She is so amazing, I’m a pretty new fan, but after seeing a trailer for “Nowhere Inn” (movie she did with Carrie Brownstein in 2020), I was intrigued, and went on to binge everything she’s ever done lol. I think I love the newest album the most, but what I really love is how versatile she is. So many of her songs sound like they could have been done by completely different people, she can make a great pop song like Lady Gaga, or a great psychedelic song like Pink Floyd. So, so good.
I keep coming back. Bassist killing it! Cato’s dirty tone! The dueling guitars! The horns! The vibe! Her band is awesome, but this is my favorite rendition of her many fine variations.

Just saw St. Vincent open up for RHCP at fenway in boston. It was a full, harvest moon! Man, what a bad ass show. Highly recommend seeing her and the band. She kicks ass. And designed that guitar from the ground up. Dave Grohl plays her guitar sometimes. Go to a concert. See her live asap. Very good.
A true showcase of power, was St. Vincent with Stephen's house band who we know are the best in late night TV. The blasting horn section, swapping thirds on guitar. Love it!
They're supposed to be top notch. It's not unusual or just by chance that they're great. These "house bands" are typically comprised of session musicians aka best available in their craft/instruments.. 🕊
Despite being a crusty cynic about music, I dig Annie. Her music has textural changes that capture my ear. Even copped some of her sh*t... Also digging the horns here.
Just amazing stuff - very different from the way the song sounds with Annie's regular band and back-up singers, but damn, this is good. Love the way she and Louis work together, and all the band members really bring it. Groovy as all hell.
Like the other elements of this episode, this was recorded quite a while ago, likely when she spent basically a week with the show. Steve couldn't get back from the Emmys on the left coast till well after 12.01 this morning (14 Sept)
Interesting. Maybe you could get Larkin Poe, Molly Tuttle, or Tyler Bryant and Shakedown on your show. Larkin Poe was on stage with Willie Nelson the other night.
As much as I like Cato and the Late Show Band, I have to say that St Vicent's performace of this same song at Jimmy Fallon with her own band was way way better. Still good, though.
Yeah I think she just decided the era proper of this album’s promo is over. Marina did the same thing with Electra Heart too, one day she just showed up to a radio show to do one of the last singles, post tour, and didn’t wear the Electra Heart getup. I’m struggling to remember what one would look for to find that on RUclips, but I remember having the same thought then, like oh shit the era is definitively closed
Who mixed the guitars? Turn them up. She clearly was not in sync with Cato here--two different styles of players. Both terrific but this was shaky. Love her, though.
Love St. Vincent and love Louis Cato! Thanks Stephen Colbert for having them together on your show!!
She reminds me of Prince. A real artistic vision and originality.
St. Vincent’s music has never been for everyone; but MAN, does she kick ass.
That’s fine. I don’t always like to share 🤷♀️
Хуйня!
I disrespectfully agree.
@Ryan Seacrest I'm genuinely curious, how do you find it derivative?
Besides having an awesome stage presence she has crazy good guitar chops! What a performance!
Great. Confident. Talented. Annie passionately delivers anything she does 👌
To understand just how good St. Vincent is, just look at how Louis and the band are reacting to playing with her!
She's so cool it hurts my teeth.
Because i know what youre relating to i loled so hard that it hurts my skullcap.
What is this? Who is this human with that voice? The song started and I was like, "Oh heeeeeeeeeelllll yes!"

Saw her at the Royal Albert Hall last week. Unbelievable artist and performer.

Stephen's new band leader rockin out with one of his favorite musicians? Dude must have been out of his skull with excitement.

First 4 bars it's gonna be awesome. And didn't disappoint.

Louis Cato and the band are beasts!!! you know they pulled this together with maybe just one actual rehearsal with Annie... Total Pros!!!

Stephen Colbert is the Honorary Chairperson of the St. Vincent Apreciative Fan Society.
I first saw St. Vincent on the Colbert Report an decade ago.
Very Cool
St. Vincent makes it possible to live in a world without David Bowie
nicely put 👌
Never thought of it like that, but you're right. This song in particular rings Bowie-esque. And look at Louis GO!

AMAZING
Her stuff with David Byrne is super fun too. Love that guitar she has.
Spine-chilling!
