- Episode 254 - This week I returned to the Georgian Hall ground footpath fields as I only had a couple of hours and I know I can make quick fire finds here. This place is loaded with coins and I've had so many silver coins here. There has to be a gold ring here waiting for me!!

Man you sure do know how to put together a good video of beautiful places and fun times
Hi Jacob, thanks mate that is a really awesome comment to read. When I was making this video, I thought it was a little bit boring, a bit unexciting and the finds were less than average. But I am super pleased you took some enjoyment out of it. I guess it's not all about the gold and the silver :) Thanks as always for your support and kind words. Something very very different coming up for my next upload
Good to see you again, Gareth. A fine field of common finds, but still finds. Hoping the ladies of the house are fine. See you on the next! Cheers Gareth! ❤️🇬🇧🙂👍🇺🇸
Hi Martin, good to hear from you mate. Sarah was actually asking about you yesterday as I not heard from you in a while. it's good to see you, hope you are doing OK? The ladies are fine, Mila is getting bigger by the day and more talkative, more interested in things and asking way more questions haha
Thanks for having us along.
Hi mate, thanks so much for coming along to my channel and watching this video. You are very welcome, and I look forward to seeing you on some of my many other metal detecting videos. Gareth
Nothing like a nice rain and clouds to cool you down....and missed the wrap up! Thanks for posting another great vid. Mike in sunny Florida
Hey there Mike, great to hear from you, thanks for tuning in again this week to see what I've been upto. How's the weather over there? This was a warm sticky session featuring some pleasant and cooling spots of rain. The finds were very average and didn't feel the need to do a roundup. If I find something exciting then I will usually do one. Thanks again for tuning in and I hope to catch you on another episode. G
Thank you for sharing your experiences as always. Never a boring one buddy, as I always love the editing & great shots. Appreciated. Bless up 👊
Hey there buddy, you are very welcome, thank you for coming along and watching this short video. Your support has been amazing, you are definitely one of my top viewers and friends of the channel. Gareth
Great stuff Gareth. Thanks for posting M8. Cheers, John.
Hi John, cheers buddy, not my most exciting video in the world or the most exciting finds. But as always I try to make the best video I can make with the footage that I capture and the finds that I make on the day. Real metal detecting at its finest :) Hope you are well and catch you on the next episode. G
Some decent little finds for a few hours, can't argue with finding coins, love fields that you can go back to and still find things, hope you and the family are well, keep up the great work as always
Ayup Sam, thanks for coming along, watching and leaving a comment. Definitely not my most exciting finds ever, but I still have high hopes there's a gold ring in that field somewhere and I will find it one day haha

Hi John, thanks very much for your kinds words and as always for taking time out your day to watch my uploads. Haha there are some annoying channels out there, but that is the joy of the internet, there will always be someone who enjoys something or other. I just try to make content how I want to make it, working hard, neat editing, not coming across as annoying etc etc :) Thanks again and I hope to see you on my next episode. G
Thanks for the video.
Hi there Philip, thank you for joining me again and watching my metal detecting expedition. Hope you are having a great week, catch you on the next one. G
Always good to get a few coins and interesting artifacts Gareth. Some of the coins seemed in reasonably nick. Beautiful spot there. Nice outing. Take care mate 🦘🦘😁👍
Hi mate, its such a lovely spot to metal detect, but its only a small permission. I've been on here about 20 times now and finds are definitely thinning out. But I am sure there is an elusive gold coin on here somewhere, maybe even a cheeky Sovereign or Guinea. I'll keep on grafting here until I find them :) Thanks as always for the channel visit, you seem to support a LOT of RUclips channels, dunno how you find the time, but we all appreciate it immensely. Gareth
Some RMD there Gaz mate, sprinkled with superb b-roll and good narration. I’m out super early tomorrow morning for a quick pre-work 3-hour dig & this has got me perfectly in the mood!! It’ll be raining here too!! Great work as ever pal
Hi Marcus, definitely some real metal detecting here, always the case on my channel. I said to Ash this weeks video is pretty boring and the finds were pretty dross, but an inquisitive title and thumbnail has given this video great performance... The joys of RUclips haha its all in the thumbnail and title. Thanks as always for tuning in, watching and supporting what I do with my channel. I hope you had a grand morning you hardcore detectorist !! x

Hi there James, thanks buddy, nothing super exciting, but as always what I find is what you see on my channel. Real metal detecting and honest metal detecting, core values of my channel. Thanks for the kind words and I hope to see you on my next episode. G
Love metal detecting old footpaths! Well done 💪
Cheers from the USA🇺🇲
Hi there, as I live and detect in the Derbyshire Dales / Peak District, the whole area is littered with hills and hundreds of miles of old footpaths. This is where I have so much success and why I found so many coins. Thanks so much for watching and I hope to see you on my next episode. G
Can’t beat that scenery mate! A field is never done😊 still something special on there mate onto the next😊
Hi Mark, yes mate the scenery is awesome here, a beautiful little spot, steep hillside with a pine forest at the top, always makes for great viewing and always find stuff here. I agree, I firmly believe there could be a gold ring on here somewhere and maybe a cheeky half Sovereign or something. I will keep looking. Thanks as always for supporting my channel. G
Nice one Gareth 👍them fields are indeed never done mate 👍👍
Hi Rob, how are you doing mate? Great to hear from you as always. I know I have been a bit quiet recently on RUclips as I took a break from it all. But I am back and will be uploading as often as I can. Hope all is well and catch you on another episode soon. G
It is not a huge surprise that you’ve gone back to v.71, many of us in the US have reverted as well. I am confident that ALL D2 users were hoping that v1.0 would eliminate, or at least better control, the falsing issues at 86,87 and 88, but that has not come to pass yet. However, we can cope with that issue in v.71 as it is a very predictable, stable and honest version of software, and it’s a predictable problem that we can sidestep. We also have the heat and continually miserable weather, so your pain is shared pain! Carry on, EASILY one of the top ten detecting channels going!
Hi mate, I am going to try again with 1.1 at some point, as I have heard the firmware flashing procedure doesn't work properly. But yeah 0.71 for me is brilliant on Sensi FT. It seems like every single Deus 2 out there performs slightly differently, some people love 0.71, some love 1.1, some still have older firmware. My friend Ash still has 0.05 and he has lots of success. Thanks for your very very kind words, really appreciated. Gareth
Another great video Gareth well done on finds
Hey Bobby, thanks as always for coming along and viewing my latest escapades in the Derbyshire Dales. Not my most thrilling video and the finds were not amazing, but I was out there trying :) Hope to catch you on my next episode. G

I was having the same issue with my 11" coil, I took the coil cover off and gave the coil especially the charging area a good clean then it worked
Hi mate, thanks very much for taking time out your day to watch this video and offer your advice. That's a great suggestion, I've not cleaned the coil out for quite a few months. I'll give that a go this evening then bang it on charge and see what happens. Thanks again and I hope to see you on my next episode. Gareth

great video mate, all your videos are entertaining, your a natural for metal detecting it shows in your videos, you realy know how to make superb metal detecting videos
Hi mate, gosh some really nice comments to read there. In life I am generally a quiet person with little emotion or confidence. But with my RUclips channel and making these videos, it has given me more confidence in life. My channel and metal detecting are my 2 biggest passions in life and I am working really hard on both, I have many goals, many plans and ambitions over the coming months, and hopefully years. Thanks for sticking with me and the channel
Very good hunt partner. I love the sport. Greetings from Dominican Republic
Hello there & Greetings, thank you for visiting my channel from the beautiful Dominican Republic. What a place to live, I bet the beaches there are full of expensive gold jewelry? Thanks for your kind words, I hope to see you again on another of my many other metal detecting adventures. Gareth
Made me smile to see you finding more stuff on a path you have detected many times. I was with the groundskeeper from my permission, on a footpath which runs through and detected many times. I got a signal where we were both stood talking so I dug it and out popped a silver cufflink (two button pieces connected with a link). Been up and down that path many times. Like you said, there's always something else to find. The groundskeeper was well amazed, so was I actually. Just goes to show, never think an area is done. Cheers for taking us alone as usual. All the best bud and HH.
Hi mate, metal detecting is a funny old game, you think something is DONE DONE, then you walk on it 6 months later, 12 months later ow whatever n boom!! This is why you see me detect the same places again and again and again. Some permissions I have visited 60+ times and still putting up the goods. Thanks for your awesome comments and I look forward to seeing you on the next episode. G

Hi there mate, probably my 2 best finds of the session there haha. It isn't gold and silver all the time, the joys of been a real metal detectorist. Thanks as always for coming along and taking time out your day to watch. G
Have no idea how you get such great footage in just a few hours. You're amazing. Really enjoy watching your vids
Hello there, aw thank you so much for the kind words. I like to spend a little bit of time capturing footage of the nice scenery and the nature. I am really enjoying my metal detecting at the moment and enjoying sharing these RUclips films with you all. It is the good people like you who motivate and inspire me to continue doing what I do :) So thank you :)
If you dig a half moon then flip the plug open the grass won’t die. Leave half the roots intact and then flip it back closed when you pull out the find. If you cut a full circle then flip it open the grass plug dies and you have lots of holes in the yard. Like you did on this hole… 9:12
Hi again, you are spot on there with what you say, I usually do try to dig a 'trapdoor' style plug, but sometimes the whole thing will pop out. I've been detecting for 10 years, respecting the land and landowner is high up my agenda. I remember once returning to a permission and saw about 30 'yellow discs' and I was a bit embarrassed that I had done that. The UK is usually wet and the grass soon recovers. Thanks for watching
yea if you leave half the roots intact it recovers faster and no yellow circles.
Smashing mate and the first one I've watched on the big screen! It's a whole new world.
Thanks mate. Haha I only ever watch RUclips videos on TV, it's a much better experience on the big screen. Bout time you dusted off that detector and got out and found some new permissions. Autumn is fast approaching, prime time metal detecting time

I didn't miss the gate latch 😊 . Those woods you walked through at first would be nice to detect in, in winter time.
Another great video.
I found a little hammered on the surface with the deus.. 55! I thought it was gonna be a 5p.. definitely worth digging.
Capturing B roll always seems to be lucky for you... you always seem to find a signal.
Amazing permission 😊
Hi there mate, haha I knew you would appreciate the gate latch. I literally recorded that bit as I was leaving the field and though to myself "I know who will enjoy this" hahah. Those woods are very enticing, but I have no idea who owns them. Yes I do find a lot of signals while capturing B-roll, that's because I probably spend 30 minutes flying the drone around and recording myself on each expedition :) Its only a small permission but it was loaded with history. Thanks as always for turning up
@TheDukesOfDerbyshire A small but loaded permission is very nice.
Hopefully you find out who owns the woods at some point 😀

One quick query: I have a permission that I really want but the farmer has said no but I remember you saying a while back that you took a crate of beer and they then said yes?? Just wondering if you have any advice or recommendations of how to go about this situation? Cheers mate
Hi mate, thanks very much for the kind words. Yes this has happened on a couple of occasions. I would go back to a farm 6 months after they said no. I would dress smartly, get chatting with them, I'd even tell a little white lie n say that they said they would think about it n to come back again later in the year or the following year etc. I would present them with a case of beer or bottle of whiskey and try and butter them up. I also offer them a lifetime membership of me trying to find anything them or their family members might have lost in a field or garden etc. In some cases I also offer to do a litter pick and take away rubbish I might pick up. If you can do something in return for them, you are always going to be on to a winner. I hope this helps. G
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire great advice mate, thanks!
Number 400 , the Dues 2 does find small pieces. Are you using Version 1.1?
Hi again and thanks for tuning in and watching another of my videos. I spent some time using V1.0, then some time with V1.1. I was a little disappointed to be honest, my favourite program is Program 3 Sensi FT, I have been using this religiously for about 18 months. After firmware update, my machine became noisy, I was getting falsing issues and digging iron. Went back to V0.71 and my machine is working like a dream again and super quiet. Its possible my updates were dodgey, I may try again on 1.1 at a later date. Thanks again and I hope to see you again on my channel. Gareth
Found a rare roman gold coin ,,took it to ,museum ,and they said will do some research ,,after a month went back and they had lost it ,,any more finds keep them ,
Hi, thanks very much for visiting my channel and for watching this video. That is very shocking to hear your gold Roman coin got "lost". You will probably never find another one. I've heard a lot of bad stories regarding finds going missing at museums. I hope your gold coin turns up
Just goes to show we just never know how a spot will be. You can walk over it a 100 times and then I’ll always pull something out of the ground. I have a spot the sameway. You just never know.
Hi mate, yes totally agree, a great little field like this is never done, but 100% the finds are definitely thinning out and it becomes slightly more harder each visit to make finds. Thanks very much for coming along as always and I hope to see you on my next episode. G
You’re right about that. You’re very welcome.
What’s the trade off using a bigger coil if there is one? I know they detect deeper but what’s the downside? I’m a noob and bought a Nox 800 which came with a free 15” coil and wondering wether to put that on or the 11” for when I go to try it out.
Definitely 11 inch to start with mate👍
@@robquince3076 Is there a reason to start with the 11” over the 15?
Hi there Del, thanks very much for visiting my channel and for taking time out your day to watch this video. Well in short, bigger coil is heavier, less nimble, but covers more ground and perhaps a tiny gain in depth. If you want further information, then coincidentally I made this comparison video comparing both coils on real targets (yes it was a lot of work to make). It may help you decide on a coil:
ruclips.net/video/iZqnUIv34fw/видео.html
For me the 11 inch coil is the perfect all rounder. If your permissions are flat and the grass is like a golf course putting green, then the 13 inch is for you. If like me your permissions are steep, hilly and uneven, then the 11 inch is much more suitable. Hope this helps.
Hiya, nice video! Quick Q, as new Deus 2 user, if ok? I’m interested to see you went back to V.71. My machine shipped with V1.1 but still has some confusing signals which seem to be falsing High numbers on almost all iron. Is this the reason you went back to V.71 and if so, does this older firmware perform as well depth-wise? Thanks in advance, Jack 🤟
Hi Jack, thanks very much for visiting my channel, watching this video and leaving your kind words. Yes I always encourage people to ask questions and I always try to help when I can. I did encounter some issues with V1.0 and V1.1, I was digging more iron and getting some falsing. Going back to V0.71 cured all this. This issue is only with Program 3 Sensi FT (which is waht I use religiously). If I were you I'd have a few sessions with 1.1, then try flashing to 0.71 (the procedure is very easy). Then do another couple of sessions and see which you prefer. Some prefer 0.71, some prefer 1.1. I created this video aimed at newcomers to the hobby, I'd love it if you gave it a watch and offered your feedback:

Thanks again, I am always available to help and I hope to see you on my channel again soon. Gareth
@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire Many thanks for advice, and yes I’ll Def. try 0.71 at some stage as you suggest. Tnx again, J 🤟
@@jackrogers5923 you are welcome. Let me know how you get on
Detecting footpaths is totally illegal
Detecting anywhere without permission is illegal. However, I have permission to metal detect this field along with the footpath from the lady who owns the field. Perhaps do your research before making bizarre comments
Why does thumbnail show gold coins? You making clickbait?? Just lame… 🤦🏼
Hello, its not something I'd normally do. I would usually spend some time making my thumbnails, but this one was rushed and used a random clipart of some coins. I would not have thought that anyone would have ever thought those coins were found in this video. I apologise for this, as you can see in my 300 or so other videos I do not take part in clickbait. I hope this does not discourage you from my channel. Gareth
I’ll admit I was expecting to see those coins coming out of the ground… all good.
