    You have explained that EBT forms complex with both Mg2+ and Ca2+.This is not the case.Ca2+-EBT complex is unstable. So if we want to estimate Ca2+ in pH 10 using EBT indicator we have to add little Magnesium salt to get initial wine red colour of metal indicator complex(which is Mg-EBT not Ca-EBT).

    The role of reaction conditions in complex formation like pH to be taken into consideration. The complexes of most divalent metals like calcium and magnesium are stable in ammoniacal solution.

    Sir, PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AND ANSWER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
    when we add EDTA to the complex of ebt and metal ion .
    Then EDTA forms complex with metal ion and ebt starts getting free .
    So, why don't we get the slow change in colour instead of sharp end point.
    And let's say when 95% of ebt gets free, so, why not the blue color of free ebt dominant the wine red color of 5% complex ebt ?

    • @RAHULKUMAR-lb6nv
      @RAHULKUMAR-lb6nv 6 лет назад +2

      Sir please tell me answer of this question

    • @pkclasses100
      @pkclasses100  6 лет назад +2

      Actually we are using only 2-3 drops of EBT, but amount of sample is very large as compared to the indicator i.e. EBT. So, all sample/ analyte will not react with EBT, only a fraction of analyte will react with EBT. When titration is carried out with EDTA then first it will react with free analytes; and at the end it will replace EBT. That's why sudden colour change will occur; and reaction is not that much slow. Hopefully you got the idea.
      Thanks and keep watching.

    • @RAHULKUMAR-lb6nv
      @RAHULKUMAR-lb6nv 6 лет назад

      But when we put excess of ebt then also the result is same. So sir how can this be possible

    • @pkclasses100
      @pkclasses100  6 лет назад

      Try once in the lab.... It will not that much sudden if you will add excess amount of EBT, you will get the intermediate color which is combination of Blue and wine red in between.

    • @RAHULKUMAR-lb6nv
      @RAHULKUMAR-lb6nv 6 лет назад +1

      Sir I have tried this in lab many a times and so what I experienced, was that when I used 2-3 drops of ebt then it was giving light color and when 10-12 drops then the color was dark
      That's it
      And no other thing I noticed
