Ok so all the points u made are actually fairly universal to any vehicle that u may want to overland. And when said breathers, know that u are not alone. TOYOTA DID THAT ON EVERY 4X4 THEY MADE! I had to do breather mods for both axles on my tundra. And I will be doing a snorkel as well. I’m just waiting on it to ship. Awesome video man!
I subbed because you said you're doing this full time! :) Keep growing fam!! 👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks fam!! 🙌 Means a lot!
Greatest video about all the information 👏👏👏👍👍👍 Thanks 🙏
Woohoo can't wait to do this!
Awesome video man!!!
Great list bro!
Just bought my FJ 2 weeks ago and love this channel
Awesome work mate 👍 and love the plug to your Aussie folk down under 🇦🇺. Keep it going great content.
Haha thanks for the support as always ✌
i just got my 2023 fj cruiser and subbed to your channel lots to watch and learn , i previously had a ford ranger wildtrack 3.2l i still miss that truck
Amazing Videos!
Hello from Australia 🇦🇺. Keep up with good work you are putting into the channel 😊
Thanks!! ✌
Subbed for sick ass videos and sick ass FJ. Video quality goes crazy too.
🙌 Haha thanks
I'm looking to buy 1. I love your channel!
Great Video.......giving me inspiration
Yes go get it!!
Nice dude! Small hands strike again!
The small hand is quick and elusive.
My dude, just found your channel & been watching several of your FJ videos the last couple days. I'm currently using a Silverado as my overlanding rig, but have always liked the FJ. Liking your content man, new follower 🤙-Josh
Amazing man, thank you for the support!! 🙌
@@stokedtour you bet👊 Hey I just test drove an FJ yesterday. 2014 with only 75k miles on it...but daaaammmmn did it have some rust on the underside. Not just surface rust either, we're talking replace the rear axle and parts of the frame type rust. Are you having that problem with yours?
Thanks nice video
Just spent a few hours today giving my 2007 Solar Fusion the blackout treatment with Plasti Dip - mirrors, door handles, grill trim, etc. Great videos, thanks.
Oh it's gonna look greaaaaaaaat!! Excited for you
When I painted mine, i took them all off to spray them. There are lots of threads on FJC Forums with pictures to show you how to remove the elements 👍
I used lots of masking tape and newspaper, but any overspray can be wiped off with your hand. An exacto knife is handy to separate the part from any rover without pulling the Plasti Dip off the part.
Let’s gooo just got one
YEA BUDDAY!!!
Hello, I'm interested in getting a Coastal off road bumper like yours(but 3hoop). How do you like it? Did your bumper/winch weight cause any forward "rake"? Is the winch bay easily accessible? I'm running 5100's leveled 3rd notch/Stock springs, wondering 4th notch? Thank you in advance.
Great video and love your FJ. Just one comment on the snorkel; these are mostly to improve the quality of air intake (up near the roof there will be less dust compared to in the wheel well where the stock air intake sits). Yes it will also help reduce water intake if you go through deep water, BUT the caveat is that there are many other components that will get f*cked when you go that deep so the snorkel isn't going to safe you. Anyway, just saying that people should be very careful treading deep water no matter if their snorkel reaches 100 meters high!
Awesome video man! I recently picked up a rhino rack platform on fb marketplace for a decent price. Yes, even after watching the videos you mentioned about those racks failing. From my research, the system seems pretty sturdy on the FJs. Not super thrilled about the low off road rating, but I'm not planning on putting a RTT on top. Definitely feel like a nice roof rack is one of the most useful upgrades for the FJ as it has such a small cargo area. Gotta upgrade my suspension and get some skid plates and mayybe a bumper and winch in the future. So many things I wanna do! Lol
Awesome man, great feedback! Good luck on the upgrades ✌
I have a RhinoRack pioneer platform with backbone on my Aussie FJ - from memory, when I bought it the manual gave a clear load capacity rating specific to the FJ and it was an amount that was more than enough for me - however, now when I check RhinoRack’s website specifications it’s all become a bit guarded / vague
I think that whilst utes (single or twin cab) have great overall load and towing capacity, pretty much all of them have low roof load capacity (as per the Tyler Thompson and Ronny Dahl threads) - this is not really an issue with most wagons
16 x 8mm bolts. That rack is not gonna fall off.
Made me feel old. So I gave you a like. 👍 lol
Hahaha awesome
Is that the Coastal DIY bumper? I have no experience in welding but I’m looking to get one.
Yup! That’s the coastal DIY bumper - I got a friend to help me weld it
Mmmm.. The South African versions here already have the front Diff and Transfercase breathers relocated to next to the Fusebox
But yeah, also had to extend the rear locker and diff breather to the front.
Also looked far and wide for the load ratings of the roof mounts over here without any luck.
But every second FJ here has a Alu-Cab Expedition Tent(rtt) on the roof, and that thing is like 80kg with full 270 awnings, the lot without any issues on our forums.
But mine also felt a bit loose around the corners with a FrontRunner Roofrack and Tentco RTT.
About to do a full Tough Dog suspension upgrade
I guess they updated the locations for the new ones! Good to hear that you haven't encountered FJ's having roof issues. Good luck on the upgrades!
Not sure if you've covered it but wondering if you've added a transmission cooler just for good measure.
Mine is a manual but yes that’s a good measure for the auto transmissions!
Hey guys, for my fj cruiser I only have one gripe that is the steering wheel does not telescope. It’s positioned a bit too far from me and it gets super tiring after long drives...
Is there any mod to fix that?
You can buy aftermarket steering wheel spacers or quick disconnects that will bring the steering wheel closer to you.
I'm never going to go overlanding myself...not at this stage of my life...but I tell you I will live and experience a tiny bit of it through your amazing videos....Good luck Sam!
Thanks for the support!!
What bumper is that? Have had bumper option paralysis for a while now.
It's the Coastal Offroad bumper!
So when is the FJC meet up?
10:03 "You're gonna need some small hands to go and find it" [taps his face] Hahahahaha
🤔
Like. What is the brand of your front bumper?
The front bumper is a self-weld kit by Coastal Offroad!
@@stokedtour Grazie! Thank you!
@@stokedtour Do you have a video of the front bumper install? I'm purchasing the same bumper, and would like to follow suit in not exposing the control box - where/how is yours located/mounted?
@@daSpliffy Unfortunately I don't have a video of the install and the welding. I mounted my control under the hood. I had to get longer cables to extend into the engine bay
@@stokedtour Cool, thx much, that does seem to be a popular FJ mod... No way to fit it inside the bumper eh? My brother in law will be welding it up, I wonder if he could just tac the mounting brackets within the bumper... thougts?
For the fj, the Old Man Emu heavy duty dront struts are rated 500lbs above stock. And the medium is 300lbs above stock. And light is 100lbs.
I have the heavy fronts and medium rears, adding roughly 800lbs of capacity to the fj. I've also installed JBA upper control arms with heavy duty ball joints. It doesn't really help with weight capacity, however it does help control (on and offroad) the weight as well as bring caster and camber geometry back to good compared to being lifted with stock control arm and ball joints
But the breathers are one of the most important things you can do. I wish I would've done mine sooner so I didn't destroy my rear diff. 😕 oh well, live and learn. But I've also been stuck in deep water and actually sucked in a little bit, thankfully the air filter stopped it 👐 got lucky with that one for sure.
Great advice!
The only problem in the FJ is the torque.
May not be a problem for rocks but in the sand it’s very important.
The chassis, body, suspension and options are the best but it’s not taken as seriously due to the low torque compared to competitors
Interesting - yeah we don't have much sand over here!
Hey bro where ya been? Just doing a bro check!
Thanks my guy...needed to focus on other things to make ends meet cause I just wasn't getting enough from RUclips to sustain. New vid coming soon tho!
Why have I not watched this video yet? 🤔
🧐🧐
I agree on the roof carrying weight. Cant find it anywhere.
Been following your posts from South Africa. We can still buy brand new FJ’s and they are very sought after in Namibia due to their great dune riding abilities.
Hi!
Question about the transmission breather. Are you sure it can't be raised without dropping the transmission? I found a couple of videos in which people raised their FJs' transmission breathers, but they made no mention of dropping the transmission. For reference, here they are:

Thanks,
Phil
Hey man! So my FJ is a manual transmission, and so I think the setup is a little different for me regarding the transmission breather. When I reached back behind the engine to feel for the breathers, I only felt the one that was from the transfer case. When I reached in further into the body of the transmission, I could feel the breather was just a nub that sat on the body of the transmission unit. Check comment #8 on this thread: www.fjcruiserforums.com/threads/breather-location.53197/
@@stokedtour Got it! I figured it had something to do with whether your transmission was manual or auto. Yeah, I wouldn't want to drop the transmission either lol. Thanks for the reply!
What year is your FJ Cruiser???
It's a 2009!
Why would you, they quit making those POS's years ago for a reason!
