Hey Myelin! "A Million Deaths are not Enough for Master Rahool" is a reference to Dune - in one of the pre-chapter quotes from in-universe historical texts, Princess Irulan is quoted as saying "'Yueh! Yueh! Yueh!' the refrain goes. 'A Million Deaths were Not Enough for Yueh!'" referring to Dr. Yueh, who betrayed the Atreides to the Harkonnens. The quote is also present in the 1984 David Lynch film.
I didn't realize until watching this, but the boss room is kind shaped like 3 sailing ships next to each other, with pipes like masts, and you need to board Avrokk's ship for the damage phase
Not to mention the almost-out-of-place World War I references: (Kaiser) Wilhelm, (Chancellor Bismarck), (the clash of German and French greed in Morocco before the war) Agadir and (General) Pershing.
@@ar1steia486 that man is literally the GOAT. And since we are throwing his voices around: He did Waddles from Gravity Falls, Numbuh 4 from Kids Next Door, and Hammond from Overwatch (the rodent not the robot)
The best part about this dungeon for me honestly was how it's not tied into any story elements, it's just a fun mission filled with references and pokes fun at the players
Surprised you didn't mention the Halo reference. In the first message, Wilhelm describes the environment as just a normal looking cave, but as you pointed out, it was created when the colony ship collapsed, meaning _this cave is not a natural formation._
I would like to point out that shortly after destiny 1 came out people believed, you actually took other people's loot from engram drops. I recall getting drops and people sending messages over drops in the middle of strike missions. So, it wasn't just end of raid or crucible match envy (which I really want back, it would work well with the new lack of blues in WQ), for a time players really believed you could take others drops.
Another small detail about Avarokk is that he bears some resemblance to Skolas. They wear the same kind of helmet, and while Avarokk doesn't have any horns jutting from his back, he does have spikes in the same posture as Skolas's horns.
I'm not sure if anyone else has already posted this, but Wilhelm and his Ghost potentially references real world history figures and/or a World War II battleship. As Kaizer Wilhelm II was the leader of Germany during World War I. Whilhelm's Ghost, Bismarck, could either be refering to Otto von Bismark (Considered to be the founder of the German Empire before its fall at the end of WW!.) or the German Battleship Bismarck. The battleship Bismarck was one of two Bismarck-class battlesips built durring World War II for the Nazi war machine.
Hah, was checking if anyone mentioned this. Wilhelm II and Bismark also butted heads just as the Guardian and his Ghost. I didn't catch the third member of the fireteams name, but Pershing may be referencing John "Black Jack" Pershing.
@@WraithzulaUnited Ah, I see so it was a refernce to the man not the ship for Bismarck. As for the third fireteam member their name was Agadir. which with a quick google shearch comes up with a city in Moroco. Which doesn't fit with the WWI history refernces in the names for the fireteam members & Ghost. Though it would have been cool if they did that, oh well.
There is also a reference to Halo and a Master Chief meme dying in a little lake while being the almighthy Master Chief. During the last Dungeon encouter, as soon as you step into that water, you die...which is funny knowing how powerfull guardians and Master Chief and yet dying as soon as they step into water.
Taniks and Avarok were both in an old disbanded fallen house called house scar (hence taniks the scarred). This also explains why they wear the same markings. (Just something I heard from another video)
RE: Avarokk's cloak... Perhaps it actually is Tanik's cloak that he is wearing. Maybe being around so many loot-obsessed guardians stuck in the caves and surrounded by so many free engrams lying around, he too became overwhelmed by the need to farm for loot of his own. I like to think he got a random drop of Tanik's cloak and is just showing off his gear, just like guardians do. Mirroring behavior of the bearers of light that the Fallen are so obsessed with.
I've played Last wish 4 times over the year, got 1k 3 times in a row Came back before sunsetting and got ran through just the boss of Scourge and got anarchy Played DSC 3 times before I got eyes of tomorrow Cheesed atheon so it didnt even count as a completion but it dropped vex on our first run In the same token, I haven't got a single multimach to drop in the last 10 IB months
I wonder if Wilhem's quip about it looking like a 'regular cave' is a reference to the original Cortana line from halo. "This cave is not a natural formation." It'd fit, celebrating the 30th anniversary and all.
Something that pissed me off with early Rahool, I had an exotic engram that decrypted into a LEGENDARY. It was also for a Hunter and I main a Titan. This happened just DAYS before the Cryptarch update.
Let's get a shout out for those first-time Vex-ers! It's funny you mentioned that about VoG and Mythoclast. That was actually me. And it's my first real memory as a guardian that I'll never be able to forget. Mythoclast was ALSO my first exotic that I ever got as well. That weapon and raid hold a great deal of significance to me as a fan of this game 😁😁
in the prophecy dungeon if you go the opposite direction to where your supposed to go on the sparrow part there's a platform where theres litteraly a easter egg collectable, it does nothing , but its there.
When you die (to anything) in the top right there is a message saying what and who killed you. For example: Hive Boomer - Knight. So when you die to the traps, it says: Wilhelm-7
Personally, I thought the flesh and blood Wilhelm talked about was just writing oversight. Like the writers forgot he was an exo or his race was changed to exo last minute.
I know Destiny Lore Vault probably puts out tons of videos that could overwhelm your youtube subscription feed, but it would look better on your end if you were subbed to them to show them your support, since you use them so often. DLV is probably fine with you just promoting them, but subs go a long way in today's world of youtube. Just a suggestion, keep up the great work!
So the Witch Queen is about the Hive right? And the Hive have taken matters into their own hands and have ghosts for themselves. Thinking about the “A million deaths are not enough for Master Rahool” and that the dead guardians found in the dungeon may only be a few of thousands, the Hive are fighting back, keep an eye on Rahool…

It's mostly just a reference to the fact that well over a million Hive were killed in the Loot Cave in search of EPIC LOOT.

He wears Taniks’ cloak and has Skolas’ helmet. Maybe he stole these items from their corpses, since he’s a pirate?
the water in the last dungeon room killing you is also a reference to halo since going in most if not all water meant instant death
Its a refrence to how bad bungie is at map making
I appreciated the “This cave is not a natural formation…” reference 😂
I had no idea about the ships collapsing damn that’s a cool detail
I just want to say. DMT and ikelos is my main combo and you’re S-tier for rolling that in your video
The Taniks cloak is also a different shade so you can look at that as a pirated version of Taniks. Or the Wish version of Taniks lol

Not sure if it’s Aussie slang too Matt but “One-Eyed Willie” is a kid’s euphemism as well. For exactly what you’d think it was. XD
If only you heard an actual 'Wilhelm Scream' used in films at some point in the dungeon...
