It sounds like Crow is starting to question why he was chosen by the Light, since his past actions caused so much pain. Now that he knows the truth, he Crow may see the relationship Uldren had with Mara as toxic, where Uldren was blindly loyal to his sister. I view Crow trying to test if he’s still worthy of the Light as him searching for worth and purpose in himself; to prove that to himself. Rather than being tied to his sister when Uldren was trying to prove himself to her. However Uldren was trying to obtain something Mara could never give him: respect. She seemed to love him though, in her own cold way. Ultimately, this scene seems to tell us that Crow is starting to live for himself, not for others. He may not be so naive next time we see him. Regaining his trust in us may be a difficult task.
Remember still have no idea what make someone worthy of the light and If it's true what the speakers said to goul About love Loyalty devotion and bravery Then uldren is the Reason Crow exist and Crow only has the memories for the evil stuff uldren did and he should have all the memories of uldren he did before the corrupted
Tbh Crow acknowledges that we did what must have been done so i don't see a reason why he should lose his trust in us. If anything we are one of the few people who gave him a second chance.
Mara showed him respect. Idk why people think she is completely unfeeling. She is guarded and calculated but she's not a sociopath and her desire to see Uldren and not a walking corpse of her brother is completely understandable. What we see as redemption, Mara sees as degradation.
“Uldren Sov could have defeated a Minotaur without the Light.” I know that Crow doesn’t want to be like his former self, but does that mean he sees himself as “less” than Uldren? That’s heartbreaking to me, I see him as something more, he’s an inspiration to people like Amanda, Saladin, and us, as someone who has faced adversity but didn’t give up. EDIT: Everyone makes a good point, Crow thinks he doesn’t want to be like Uldren no matter what. He’s not lesser, he’s different.
I think someone else than Uldren is better. Different methods. Another life. Another training. Different strikes. Another hand pulling the trigger. Not the one who killed Cayde but the one that brings peace to eliksni and guardians.
"...as someone who has faced adversity but didn’t give up." Seems like this adversity is a battle with the self which, if my understanding is correct, greatly expressed in VI-Isolation. Kinda brings a tear to my eyes having this knowledge about our boy Crow. Redemption.
It can be seen that way, but I'm choosing to see it as he seems to be seeing, confirmation that he is not the same thing or person, confirmation that his methods are different and his place and role are so vastly different that the outcome is different.
Maybe Savathun is trying to test whatever means she used to give him Uldrens memories to make sure she will have her memories when she becomes a "guardian"
Counterpoint: Savathun restoring all of Uldren's memories proves she can fully restore her own when she will inevitably have to commit sewer slide and be resurrected as a pseudo guardian.

I love this community discussing Destiny lore. It really shows that deep down Destiny has one of the most fascinating universes and storylines in gaming despite having a few mediocre or bad campaigns over the years.
You know, I really didn't like Crow when he was first introduced. The fact that he became a constant reminder that Cayde was gone, and his role as a hunter almost to taunt people about his past lives actions. But the writing with the character has been spectacular, and I can safely say crow is probably my favorite character now. As he is digging through the two lives he has lived I do think he will be better for it. And in particular, I think he will realize how toxic his relationship with Mara was. And I think that realization will lead him to a far more healthy state of loyalty with question. Following a cause, but not blindly. Asking questions that no real soldier would. But most definetly asking questions that a hunter always will. I look forward to the day he joins the vanguard. It will be nice to see hunters properly represented again.
Crow is one of the best characters I've ever seen because he feels remorse for actions Uldren committed and Crow had nothing to do with I think it will be interesting to see how Crow talks to our Guardian after this because if he has all his memories then I imagine he will be afraid to talk to us because of say what he did to Cayde and he might think we only took him from Spider out of pity rather than because we chose him it'll be interesting to see how he evolves

Crow is so fascinating narratively because he like the Dreaming City, stuck in an endless loop of redemption and falling to darkness, both not-so-coincidentally brought about by Rivan's subjugation to Savathun. Then there's the conflict of trying to live up to and be a better person than Uldren.
*feels like its a good place to remember my theory about Uldren/Crow dilemma* Crow is a new person, and by all means Udlren Sov already paid his price, suffering three times for his decisions. homie went through some shit so he deserves some respect for wading through it. first spider, then osiris, and now savathun. god crow just cannot catch a break
He IS a guardian, we all have a past we're not proud of, 40 years of mine I was Derek, I said I'd be watching this story closely, I'm glad he finds himself properly, accepting who you are is harder than most will ever find out. Was for me, but now, no; I am Dahnya, and in my case, always was, just evading it for 40 years. Well done Crow, you are forgiven by me, now lets kick Savathun's arse. :D
Hi Byf, glad you're back and feeling better. As always: Thanks for the great content. I used to keep asking you to finish the Clovis Bray series; I really like that evil scientists backstory. But at this point, I think do what seems the most interesting to you and/or your team. After the silly season though, family first (excluding scientific experimentation though 😏). Cheers.
Bungie can you please make the idea of Emotional Support ghosts a thing?? The idea of a ghost delivering Groceries to an old woman is one of those things that would do literally nothing for lore or story but it would a nice little add on
This will complicate things with Mara... she's not ready to let her brother go and still thinks of him (and wants him to be) Uldren. Someone he no longer wants to be.
What I'm wondering and not sure if it would still matter is if Savathun revealed ALL the details of Crow/Uldren's past. Even while they were done under his hand, Uldren was under the thrall of Riven not in his own will, and this could come up if he sees Mara given her previous machinations. But even then, bottom line is Uldren is not Crow even if they ultimately share the past to some extent. Does make me think it would be a neat idea to have Crow interact with Ana Bray, who also discovered her past after becoming a Guardian (a bit differently of course). Either way, Crow's pilgrimage of self-discovery, purpose, reconciliation and redemption continues and I'm rooting for him.
Uldren, despite being really old, is going through what a lot of young men go through. At a certain point young men crave constantly proving ourselves and receiving acknowledgement. Mara being Uldren's source of that acknowledgement is a lot like a son to his father. Mara being cold blooded strategist like Batman wished to keep each other emotionally distant. This lead Uldren to find the motivation to become incredibly skilled at whatever he set his mind to only to still not receive that acknowledgement. It's not until you are older you can look back or see how others constantly do the same thing that you realize how much of a slave you were to that mindset. But nonetheless, Crow is wandering why he was chosen by the Traveler which tells me that the entire time he was doing all of that he was indeed motivated by selfless reasons despite the level reaching incredible heights that is became toxic once he became corrupted by it. What this tells me is while Mara was alive he had the mental fortitude to keep his ambition in check and this is why I think he was worthy of being chosen by the Traveler.
Your voice would fit in good on"operation easy listening" as Amanda Holiday puts it. I wonder if he'll remember when Uldren told us to kill a gate lord as well. Back when we had a Dinklebot, and could talk.
I looked him in the eyes and dropped the Gate Lords eye before him, so I could wipe that smile off his face. I hunted him mercilessly for the pain he inflicted to the hearts of so many. I looked him in the eye with a burning rage wishing that I could pull that trigger a thousand times... But when I look at you Crow.. I see someone that reminds me of an old hunter friend.. someone I couldn't stand to lose. Someone I love. Don't stay gone to long little Bird. Your friend. Titan Sammāʾēl
I don't think bungie would do this, but it makes sense. If a guardian could control fire or lightning, water could be possible. Probably not every guardian though
Though I agree with other person, it's probably not a darkness power, Beacuse In the lore, the darkness is described as an ocean and the light is discribed as the sky
I hate how this stuff happens with words alone. We need cutscenes, Bungo. Or, at the very least audio logs. Games have done both for decades, lol. Gonna be interesting to see this duality of Crowdren Sov play out, though. Imagine feeling built for something your body did, but your mind doesn't remember, yet being so intrinsically linked, your feelings couldn't be any more real, all the while attempting to escape the shadow of the man you once were, and don't know.
So let me see if I have this straight: Crow goes to venus to basically confirm that he will lose 1v1 to a minotaur because uldren could win and that means he is not uldren? Weird way to go about an identity crisis but OK
Especially considering Crow wants to prove that he’s not Uldren. He could’ve thrown the fight on purpose. However, part of the test was to see if Glint could still bring him back.
He sort of already was. Osiris told crow to get him dead ghosts and I’m guessing the reason she wanted to learn necromancy from nokris was to revive the ghosts, then use the CoS to merge their minds
Could you maybe give some of your thoughts regarding the new trailer? Like, how is Mars back? Does Savathun know how to reverse damage done by the Black Fleet? Some insight on what her throne world is exactly?
Bungie devs have stated that Savathun got sloppy because she was desperate. I would hazard a guess that when her worm was raking her being that aggressively she had limited abilities thereby. Especially trapped within Mara's cocoon. I think she would have filtered and handpicked Crow's memories... If she could.
you want to know that i think would be cool for just like a one off thing that bungie does to make the world of destiny feel lived in, give the guardians, the vanguard, the FOTC, and house light a sort of Veterans Day Parade through the city and have both Saint and Mithrax riding a tank edit: is this random as fuck...yes, yes it is
why do the three class types remind me of the three guardian signs from skyrim? Titan=Warrior Warlock=Mage Hunter=Thief side note: Idk how i thought of this but it just popped into my head

homie went through some shit so he deserves some respect for wading through it. first spider, then osiris, and now savathun. god crow just cannot catch a break
Wait, so the Vex don’t actually teleport? They just tweak time itself so they happen to standing somewhere that suits them better?
Sounds like an overly complicated Linux program.
Fuckin try-hards.
Little good it does em
Hi Byf, glad you're back and feeling better. As always: Thanks for the great content.
I used to keep asking you to finish the Clovis Bray series; I really like that evil scientists backstory. But at this point, I think do what seems the most interesting to you and/or your team. After the silly season though, family first (excluding scientific experimentation though 😏).
Cheers.
sir you inspired me to get back to writing stories. i really like your videos about one of my current favorite game
It would not surprise me to find out Savathun conveniently left out any mention of Riven, given that Riven was working with Mothmom herself.
Merry Christmas!
We've been missing you, Byf. Looking forward to the continuation of The Story of The Awoken series.
Can we get a lore video on randy? As in the guardian who received the gjallarhorn, and as in Randy’s throwing knife?
I looked him in the eyes and dropped the Gate Lords eye before him, so I could wipe that smile off his face.
I hunted him mercilessly for the pain he inflicted to the hearts of so many.
I looked him in the eye with a burning rage wishing that I could pull that trigger a thousand times...
But when I look at you Crow.. I see someone that reminds me of an old hunter friend.. someone I couldn't stand to lose. Someone I love.
Don't stay gone to long little Bird.
Your friend.
Titan Sammāʾēl
For a moment, i thought this was a TSLAYP video when I saw the goofy looking Zavalas
ZavalaKeeps will always make me chuckle
Crow: *mentally not well*
The Guardian: HALO WEAPONS!!!
I'm really curious if water could ever be used by a light bearer or if there are any light bearers thatjjst don't need to use guns
Osiris uses his echoes and can dual wield 2 dawnblades. There must be more light bearers like him
oh you're right he even conjures just straight up golden bubbles of light interesting. So a water guardian is possible hell yeah.
@@WaterBias Stasis, cosmic or not, is really just frozen water. So maybe using water in its fluid/liquid state is actually a power of the Darkness. ;)
I'm just waiting to see more interactions between Crow and the Guardian. That should be fun
Maybe crow doesn't have all of the memories, but all that he has paint a picture that uldren was better
I hate how this stuff happens with words alone. We need cutscenes, Bungo. Or, at the very least audio logs. Games have done both for decades, lol.
Gonna be interesting to see this duality of Crowdren Sov play out, though. Imagine feeling built for something your body did, but your mind doesn't remember, yet being so intrinsically linked, your feelings couldn't be any more real, all the while attempting to escape the shadow of the man you once were, and don't know.
guilt*
So let me see if I have this straight:
Crow goes to venus to basically confirm that he will lose 1v1 to a minotaur because uldren could win and that means he is not uldren?
Weird way to go about an identity crisis but OK
Especially considering Crow wants to prove that he’s not Uldren. He could’ve thrown the fight on purpose. However, part of the test was to see if Glint could still bring him back.
0:42 Zavala’s last name is Shcrute it seems lol
I've been waiting for a new lore video for ages!
Always a joy when you upload :D
When will the season story wrap up? It's just been left at "oh we're gonna remove her worm now" but that's not an ending.
It will most likely shift a week or two prior to The Witch Queen’s release date.
Probably a few weeks before Witch Queen.
Wonder if Crow will somehow be the key to Savathun stealing the light...
I think crow knowing his past life will better balance him if he ends up being a Speaker.
you want to know that i think would be cool for just like a one off thing that bungie does to make the world of destiny feel lived in, give the guardians, the vanguard, the FOTC, and house light a sort of Veterans Day Parade through the city and have both Saint and Mithrax riding a tank
edit: is this random as fuck...yes, yes it is
Hope you feel better....good work
Is there a recap video I could watch for this season since I didn’t buy it but I want to keep up with the lore?
12:35 crow already has Amanda, zavala, ikora, glint, Saint even us but at that point all support helps
why do the three class types remind me of the three guardian signs from skyrim?
Titan=Warrior
Warlock=Mage
Hunter=Thief
side note: Idk how i thought of this but it just popped into my head
Love your videos byf! Keep up the great work!
Sorry, but Trazyn The Infinite is here to steal your comment
Thank you for the video; we've been wondering about how you were. We were hoping you'd do a video about the new dungeon, esp. how an Exo "bleeds" to death. Happy Christmas to you and yours!
Merry Christmas and a happy new year keep up the fantastic job 🥂🍷🎄
Get well soon buddy 🙏
I'd love to see more about Xur
Clearly the crow needs some new weaponry if he can't beat the minatour without his light.
Happy holidays Lore Daddy!!
I super want Byf to talk about the Witch Queen trailer and the potential of Mars coming back 👀 plus more Clovis Bray stuff
Can I get a huge group of guardians to head over to the tangled shore on February 21st 2022 to bust some scorn with the Ace of Spades one last time before they are vaulted? I want this to be a big thing so please like if you see this!
Nah. he on venus cause someone told him about particle deconstruction. he want that Vex Mythoclast.
Great vid, Byf. Love your channel man. I’m a lore nerd.
Nice! Been a minute since we got a lore video from the master. 🙂
Everyone else : MINOtaur
Byf : MAINOtaur
What I think is going to happen is he's going to the vault of glass and change the past
Man, I'd really like to see you cover the Witch Queen trailer that dropped recently, Venextron covered some interesting things that I'd really like to see your opinions on.
I would say if you tihnk there's any big lore things to point out with the new witch queen trailer go for it, that could be interesting! Though I personally didnt spot anything that seemed too big to go over in a video. Though I'm also extremely new to destiny so I might've just missed things that a more seasoned destiny 2 player might've spotted
Well as others pointed out it be interesting to hear Byf thoughts on the fact we'll be visting Mars, consider as of right now it's covered in a darkness barrier that if the Glykon is to go by doesn't play nice if ya try and push through.
hey byf, great vid, i would really like to see a break down and possible speculations u have on the new witch queen trailer
We want you to feel better and come back fully charged Byf! See you starsife
Did Ikora send him on that mission? I thought I remember something at the end of one of the weekly stories but that was forever ago.
@Grasshopper you right
Hey byf, hope you get better 💖
Good on you for getting the Booster. I'd miss these if anything happened to you ;D
I’m out of state from my pc and don’t like controllers so I’ve just been playing Minecraft thanks for keeping me up
Does anyone have a take on what Savathûn meant in week 2 by the, "Just look up." Line?
Crow is Uldren.
At about 3:00 what is that linear fusion rifle? It's not exotic and I don't recognize it
Corsairs wrath, from wrathborn hunts.
