I have used MINT and I’m certainly not a happy customer, so this gentleman looks a great option.
Trust me he is the best!
Do you mind sharing a bit more about your experience with MINT? Looking to have my SX-70 upgraded/refurbed
Because of you I did send a camera to Dennis and he did amazing work!!! I would DEFINITELY recommend him!!!
That’s great to hear!!
Love the transparent autofocus! I hope you’ll be reviewing the new I-2 soon 😌
No plans to review that camera at this time
@@JustAnotherChrisboooooo
@@Razzbow You do know I have to pay for this stuff right? all the videos you have seen on it already they didn't have to. I'm a small youtube channel and for $600 I can make alot of videos instead of just one.
@@JustAnotherChris I gotcha dude! Just wasn’t sure if it was something you wanted to get yourself or not. You’re still the first one to inform me of its existence 😎👍
@JustAnotherChris been a while since we spoke. I definitely appreciate all that u do. I fully understand the cost factor. Maybe if the community really wants that review, they can hopefully step up and help support it a lil more.
Git my SX-70 refurbed with Dennis and it's still rocking.
Awesome! Glad to hear it!
My SLR 680 is now also with Dennis today, unfortunately I also had to send my SX-70 for warranty, it was resolved properly. I had that 680 together with an SX-70 sonar for 150 euros in the outlet of fotohandel Delfshaven
In other news: the Polaroid i-2 seems to be on every photo channel. They all tell how it works, how it looks. Fine. I just need Chris to review it to then make up my mind on whether I get it or not. I hope that comes soon. Cheers!
I’m not affiliated with Polaroid so I’ll have to buy one and get one myself
I’m too hoping for a review by Chris. I really can’t trust In An Instant anymore because he’s now a shill for Polaroid, he only praises everything they do (most notable with their absurd speakers).
I’m afraid the I-2 has some design problem a as the I-1 did back in the day, so I’m not even excited for it until I see some real reviews.
Its not worth it 500 dollars for mediocre pictures I love the camera but the film still holds it back quite a lot and having that much features makes it worse
Hopefully sending my sx70 to Denise this week
Yes!
this is something I want to do to my sonar in the future. I definitely have no plans to abandon my sx-70 if I get the I-2 at some point. Personally i like that the sx-70 is more customizable and has a wider range of niche accesories such as the telephoto lens or the microscope adapter. The I-2 has more built in features that is appealing but gotta wait until the price comes down a bit 😅
I’m gonna wait until cyber Monday lol
I have a feeling this will probably be excluded from deals.
@@azulcucaracha9987turns out Urban outfitters had a 40% coupon that applied to the Polaroid I-2 and it was nearly $250 off!
Need an I-2 review from you 😭
I very much considered using what looked like fantastic services from him when I bought a sx-70 alpha and sonar sx-70 but just didn’t want the hassle of sending it across the ocean. Felt much more comfortable sending it to a gentleman in New Mexico and he did a fantastic job for my refurbishment. But now I wish I knew about this new high end model from Polaroid coming out. I like the idea of just getting something new with full control and not having to send it around the globe. Anyone want two refurbished sx70 cameras 😂
I went through the process of sending Chromatic Parts my Alpha 1 for a refurb and 600 conversion. It took a little while to ship but was nearly hassle free. If you've got the money for it, do it!
@@Hal_Bennett I have all the conversions done but I’m going to sell them for this new one.
The black tape on the sonar portion is me rn 😂😂😂😂
Well not for long!!!
Looking forward to the manual-mod review.
Great context as always!
Due to you exerpiernce was just curious what your thoughts on getting protection plans on more expensive instant cameras and wether it’s worth it or not.
I need a replacement cover for the Sonar unit of an SX70 Sonar but Pola Studio is asking $60 for an old part and $100 for a new one. I can buy another camera for that money!
Well then go do that. However the chances of actually finding a sonar camera for less than $100 is extremely low let alone in working condition.
In Internet l saw One for almost 500 wow they sometimes can be expensive 😮😊
ATOMIC PURPLE!!! YESSSSS!!!!!!
It's awesome!!!
I may have to do this. I have 2 sx70s that need work. Do they offer battery mods too so u can do itype?
Yes Dennis had a product called the powerbar. I have done a few videos on it as well
Brooklyn Film and Camera has let me down for the last time.
How so?
i-2 review :) Plssss....even tho i already ordered it lol..
Same Same here😂
If you want to watch the I-2 review video early I have bundled it with a massive discount on my masterclass. cre8academy.thinkific.com/courses/master-the-art-of-instant-photography
So this mods makes it so your able to use your phone to take a photo. I would love to have something like that
Yes that is correct
I am literally addicted to your videos, very good videos. What would you recommend, buy an sx70 (like 70 dollars) or a sx70 sonar (240 dollars) and contact Dennis to do maintenance and be able to shoot 600 and itype films and maybe change everything to full manual control (although I am a newbie in this about photography in general) OR buy a MINT slr680 that shoots 600 and ytipe film OR maybe buy on camera from POLA STUDIO, I am from Santiago Chile (South America) and it is difficult to access these cameras if they are not bought abroad, I don't know, I really want a polaroid camera but I am a newbie and inexperienced so I don't know what to do.
Either cameras, great I would go with what you can get and afford. I’m always a fan of finding a camera on eBay OfferUp, Facebook marketplace, etc. then sending it to Dennis to have the work done. It will be cheaper in the long run. Other places like mint will up charge the heck out of the cameras.
@@JustAnotherChris I understand, cheap camera + Dennis, and what model do you recommend for a newbie, sx70, sonar or slr 680?
@RufleX no reason to get a 680. Get a sonar
@@JustAnotherChris Understood, thanks for your time
@RufleX anytime!
Are you going to talk about the Pola drop today?
Hey Chris! Won't you get your hand on one i-2 piece to test out? I'm really waiting for your for your impartial honest review on one before I sacrifice 600 bucks and blow up my bank. :)
I have an sx-70 sonar that needs repair and I just need it fixed and don’t need mods. Would it still be over 200
I would imagine it would depend on what is needed to be done would determine the cost
Is it fully manual? Or is it another shutter priority camera, like the mint that claims to be fully manual but is just shutter priority?
OK, Aimshootdevelop went over it. It is not fully manual, it is shutter priority.
@@lofianddiyThe Polaroid SX-70 is neither. 1/8000th of a second isn’t really true, it’s the equivalent speed if the aperture was at f/8. At the SX-70 max shutter speed at 1/180 it’s more like f/96 though.
This is inherent in the SX-70 shutter design and was a way to make it smaller and more convenient to the user, remember the SX-70 was meant to be a completely automatic camera. The only way to get around this would be to redesign the whole shutter from the ground up, which I would like to see, but it would sure be a nightmare to fit it all in the shutter housing.
How long does the Discount for Polastudio last?
Was never told an expiration date
@@JustAnotherChris thanks
Customs has been very economical with your sonar :(
Sadly yes
