    I just bought this - was using the SX-70 film and all of my photos were coming out dark. Now it finally makes sense that its a 600 Type camera and not an SX 70 film. Thank you so much.

      I don't own a 680. But the film door should tell you what film uses and I believe is some information just under the viewfinder on all Polaroid folding models. Only the 600 Polaroid cameras came with the built-in flash sx-70 always required a separate flash unit.

    I just bought one of these cameras from a yard sale to resell, but I didn't even know how to open it. Thanks so much for your tutorial, you saved me a lot of time!

    Polaroid Originals make a different case now. The protection in it looks a little lighter, but it is still padded well, and the case is designed for the camera to be taken out and put back in much easier. You don't need to put the case down as you have to with the Unit Portables one. And it costs 45 euros/dollars.

      @@nandorvarga4795 Unfortunately, that case is out of production by now, but you can watch a video "The Best Polaroid Camera Bag You Can Buy" from a channel called Just Another Chris, there is an Amazon link in the video description, too. It also seems like a better deal, since it costs $16 instead of $40-45

    The Polaroid SLR680 is the best you can use with 600 film. It has the sharp glass lens, sonar autofocus, the flash can easy switched off and you look through the lens resulting in better composition. MiNT Camera has a nice self timer for the SLR680 or SX70. Last I compared the same subject shot on the SLR680 vs Now+. The one from the SLR680 is sharper and has more contrast. Quality comes at an expense but I think it’s worth it.

    I've learned that a good alternative for a 680 case is a carrying case for a Nintendo Switch/Switch Lite.

    Great video. Fingers crossed - maybe I will be an owner in few days :) SX70 Sonar is not good for me. ISO 100 ruined few shots and even with frames transfer from iType it is still too expensive to get use to it.
    Thanks for another inspiring video.

    Great video Dan 🤙🏻
    I was recently given an original 680 by the family of a neighbour and Friend who passed away a few months ago.
    It’s in very good condition as I doubt he used it very much, so I’m looking forward to ordering some film and shooting with it.
    Speaking of film, I notice Polaroid Originals do several different “flavors” of 600 film. Is there any particular one you or your subscribers would recommend trying first?
    Thanks
    Rob.

      I shoot a fair amount of PO, and only really like the Color 600 and B/W 600.

    Hi Dan, Loved the video. I'm very excited with my 680 but I have a question for you. According to old polaroid manuals you're supossed to see the whole square in the viewfinder. With glasses on this is nearly impossible. How are you coping with this as a fellow glassman?

    This was so helpful - thank you! How long to process/cook? Depends on the temp I guess? Also, I put in the film shield, but should the Polaroid be pulled out immediately or let it sit underneath the shield a bit before placing it facedown? Ages ago we used to put it under our armpit, but I'm more particular now - wouldn't want it to bend. Thank you again!

      If you're indoors, you can pull out the image right away, but I'd wait or be careful if you're out in sunlight. As for how long it takes to develop these days, black and white is a matter of a minute or two, while color tends to take a few minutes to see a result and then a half hour to get a sense of what colors are going to be, with further changes slowly appearing over the next few hours. Hope that helps!

    Hello
    I have a sx70 model 1 , but also fungus on the lens and no one around to do the maintenance. Would you know any on line tutorial so I can do it myself? I found a guy who disassembled one in a matter of minutes , but his goal was the chamber not the lens and so I was let in the dark.

    some polaroids have diffenent logo it also it says polaroid land camera auto sonnar auto focus is that a differnet model or still the same ??

    • @robertknight4672
      @robertknight4672 4 года назад

      The founder of Polaroid Edwin Land just put liked to put his last name his instant cameras. The sx-70 (slower film speed) cameras were the last models who have his name on them including little Rainbow stripe camera and its variants. Land was sadly forced out of the company he created before the 600 cameras came around. There were many Polaroid camera models both sx-70 cameras and 600 film cameras that used sonar autofocus. The Wider Spectre cameras which no longer get film for also used sonar autofocus.

    • @SpookyDollhouse
      @SpookyDollhouse 5 лет назад +3

      It doesn't have a battery in it to charge. Each pack of film comes with a built-in battery that you cannot re-charge. You never have any separate batteries to put in.

      The camera doesn't have a built-in battery. The battery is in the 600 films (cartridge)
