100% agree with all your points. One of the more toxic things I experienced early on in DeviantArt - for example - was a trend where "superior" artists were preying on less skilled artists by taking those "newbie" artist work and then redrawing it their way to give it a "superior" look. I had this happen to me once when drawing a doodle of a manga and anime character for fun while at work! It was a sci-fi character and had its own anatomy due to it being a type of armored suit. Someone messaged me saying something like "Hey! I saw your art and really liked it and want to add it to an art piece I am doing" and I thought, "Wow! This is a great honor that someone cared enough about my art to want to add it to their piece" so I agreed. Once the person finished uploading their work, I read their description and it said "I saw other artists drawing this character poorly so I decided to make it better".. and while I agree that their art did look better (just somewhat better proportion and weight to the figures), it was a big betrayal of trust and kindness. I actually quit posting to DA for about 2014 and very, very rarely posted since until the more recent months this year! All of this after pretty much giving up on my art for 20 years until about a few months ago this year. Since then, my art views-to-like/favourite ratio is really low. I get more views than likes/favourites, so I don't know if that means people who saw my stuff liked it but didn't care to hit the like button, or if the ones who DID hit the like button maybe are the only ones who cared. It is a weird thing, some art pieces get up to 300 - 500 views but maybe 9 or 10 likes, and I'm a pessimist by nature so I consider it that my art is just no good lol. There are people that are biased towards artists with big followings and maybe go by the amount of likes they get. Anyway, stay positive Yuno, your artwork's massively improved since the earlier videos you posted! Its looking pretty damn amazing and clearly you've gotten a handle on composition, colours and style! Painting is actually the one thing that I've been struggling with (among numerous other things in art) but its a fun challenge for myself. I admit I'm a bit envious seeing how easy you're making painting look! :D Chin up! Stay smiling and only draw when you feel like happy to do so.
Aww thank you ❤ and deviant art is very toxic app for artists i m sorry u had to deal with it i mostly just dealed with the partiality between big artists and small artists and that sucks ngl but i hope people stop being so toxic haha
The person who fix your art and say your art poorly can't even do their art. What a shame for those people. Also is okay! Everyone take their time to improving their art. Don't let stinky unwashed feet comment live rent free in your brain
