You are not the only one that hates gravel. In my HOG group there are people that have been riding for years and feel the same way. They avoid it every chance you can. Straight on its not a problem, just easy on the breaks. No high speed turns. If you have to put your feet down just know they may shift around a under weight. I think you are correct about courses vs real world riding. Maybe look for an class for offroad riding. Just to get use to unstable surfaces,
Gravel is a hoot. First time I experienced it was on a 190hp sport bike with a giant rear tire. The only thing I have to remind myself of with loose surfaces is to favor the rear brake over the front.
Always love seeing your riding adventures. You are doing great! Teddy hates gravel too. Definitely a challenge! Love seeing the covered bridges. I don’t think I’ve seen them before. What road is that you are taking?
Alaskan here. Summer in the interior are hot, in southeast are mild. Camping gear would be same what you would use in Maryland. Visit capital city before heading north from Whitehorse. Camp here on the beach while watching whales go by. Sunshine Cove in capital city is the place
I'm in my late 50s. I've only been riding about 5 years. I still get nervous in certain situations. I don't mind gravel roads on my bikes, as long as it's not thick gravel.
Nice ride, bridges! Riding in gravel is tricky, but you'll get it. Sounds like you can add that to the things you practice, especially since you're heading to Alaska!! 🤔 Doing great, keep moving forward.
If your going to Alaska expect gravel roads. Take an off road class & get your skill level up first. Motorcycle riding is fun however you can't be scared when road conditions change. Never stop learning.😊

Good advice and hey...don't have anymore run ins with gravel lol
I’m glad I’m not the only one that gets an itchy nose when they ride. 😂😂
OMG! I'm glad I'm not alone!!

You started riding at almost the same age as me!! :)
I respect being cautious. I ride a 380kg Wing, that I can tip toe to the ground. Taking the time is the key.
I'm definitely probably overly cautious lol
Nice ride, bridges!
