Carbon X was also sort of heavy. They targeted ultra runners and slower runners, which tend to be also heavier than faster marathon runners. So few grams here or there doesn't matter much in that target group. Btw, when I started running and ran a marathon in Rotterdam in 3:33, I wore the heaviest stability shoe from Adidas, namely the Salvation, which was 360 grams. It took few years before I started to pay attention to how fast or light the shoe was.
I’ve always struggled with a medial cutout and my foot rolling in e.g wave rebellion pro, takumi sen 8/9. I’ve never tried a shoe with the cutout on the lateral side. i’m skeptical of those types of cutouts but being on the outside they could be ok for me?
Very interesting location for the cutout. I have a Mizuno Wave and V1 and my brain keeps telling me be carful and keep foot moving correctly but in reality there is a super hard plate there.. I asked people behind me to look (easy run) if I pronate.. They always say no.. Looks normal.. Also feel normal but my brain is not accepting this.
Hi, Alex! Thanks for your reviews as always. I have aquestion about Hoka Cielo X1. Some say one should not run in this shoe on treadmill. Is it true??? I wonder why.
The weight is a bit puzzling to me, and also the upper being relatively warm. It' s the top tier Hoka Racing Shoe, so it should be as light and minimal as possible. Love the look of that rocker but hard to consider this for racing when it weighs basically as much as a standard daily trainer for me.
interesting...think Hoka may just need another go at this one...Rocket X2 was a smashhit for me...almost favoured the RX2 over Vaporfly because of how great it felt at slower paces late in race when tired...this sounds like they need to trim weight and fix upper and will be there with Alphas...
For those that have slight overpronation concerns and have run in it, how does this the Cielo X1 go considering the cutout on the insole is on the lateral side, would i be correct in thinking it pushes you more lateral than medial, thus in turn being a bit of a savior for those who overpronate? Thanks
If you want to run a Marathon reasonably quickly, in comfort, enjoy the ride as much as you can enjoy a Marathon, and aren't that bothered about weight, this sounds like the Shoe, the big difference with The PXS1/2 is this is more stable and race legal, if your bothered by that kind of thing. Similar feel to the Wave Rebellion Pro but is more stable and has a higher level of comfort. Does that sound about right?
did you test the shoes with other laces? following your advice i did it and the shoes loses completely the upper structure, the laces are thought to be rigid to give kind of a frame to the upper, they do not go untied at all, they work very well. there are other issue that did not come out of your review during my testing, but that is not the point. the point is about the level of quality of the youtuber's review
@@AlexFilitti I think this shoes is not for everyone the extreme rocker geometry in combination with strong rebound at lower pace it seems to be hitting my knees in an unnatural way that is a bit worrying me, it reminds me of the original alpha fly that gave me the feeling that once the rebound of the zoomx was being handled by the body the pop of the air zoom pod would kick in adding an extra force that would need to be absorbed instead of being used
Tried this and loved it! So responsive… I had no problem with the heel counter which surprised me. The shoe is built for running up on the forefoot, so not sure how it would be for heel strikers.
Ordered this up over the Rocket X2 for uptempo training/longer runs. I’m not looking for the fastest shoe, but one that performs like the Adidas X2 Strung. I love the Adidas but cannot wear it due to the design of the tongue and lacing giving me hot spots and lace bite. The top end Adidas shoes all give me lace pressure issues no matter what I try. Hoping Hoka fits better!
Did first 10 k Tempo run in them. I have wide feet and they feel perfect. First Hoka that fits me TTS. They feel very bouncy but they actually reminded me of the Mizuno Wave Rebellion Pro V1. Same ride.. Heavier.. More stable.. Like a training partner for the Mizuno Wave Rebellion Pro V1. Fist I thought its like Alphafly but the longer I run it felt like a chubby brother of the Mizuno Wave Rebellion Pro V1. Definitely not a racing shoe for me. By the way.. I ❤ the laces 🎉.
Great review Alex. Seems overpriced. Can't get over the upper and those gift wrapping laces. What was HOKA thinking? How hard is to put in the ridged laces that Nike and now other brands use for their top shoes. Maybe they will fix this in V2. If they do, I'll consider them but at this price point, with these flaws, I'd rather spend my money elsewhere.
Hey Alex 😉 yes should be great to have a comparison with the RocketX2 and the AFV3 … mine weights 192g in my size 8.5us lol … but don’t know why i m interested by this shoe … I have the PrimeX strung that are really confortable but the instability on the heel scarred me sometimes so to replace my Superblast and try something different for long easy to steady runs they should be a good option but for sure they are a bit expensive ( waiting for a discount code lol) … could you make another video on it when you ll get more kms ? Thx and see you in Paris … I hope lol I will be in Paris on Saturday 13h near Champs Élysée et 15h30 at the Saloon lol 🤣👏👏👏🙏🇫🇷
No one seems to mention just how unstable they seem to be. First shoe I've ever had that twists my ankle regularly. Any ground that's not dead flat is a hazard with these
How do you already have a review of this shoe when it just came out? It takes time to get an honest review like figuring out durability and longevity of the sneaker. And this is a review channel??
Très lourd... Chez li-ning la shadow2 pro fait 275grs 10 US.... Et c'est plus abouti techniquement. Sinon ce n'est pas comparable avec des vaporfly. Certainement une chaussure marketing cette nouvelle hoka !?
Incredible design. Sometimes we forget to appreciate the intricate shaping and elaborate textures, weaving, sculpting etc.
Very interesting !! I just picked up the Rocket X2 and would truly appreciate a comparison between the 2, thanks so much Alex!!
Coming up! Thanks for the nice comment!
Yes a comparison with the Rocket X2 would be welcome.
Let’s do this!
I can't wait for your comparison video!
Great Alex! Yes we need a carbon plate battle!
Coming up!!
Yes just ordered 7 different racers🤯

Yes! Please compare to Rocket X2. Thank you and love the content! 🙏🏼
Thanks a lot for the nice comment.
Would love to see the comparison between Rocket X2 and Cielo X1
I have the Mizuno Wave Rebellion Pro V1 and I am a heel striker and slow runner but the Mizuno Wave Rebellion Pro V1 is perfect for me..

I'm about 20k into these and my ankle has twisted multiple times on ground that's anything but dead flat
Hi, Alex! Thanks for your reviews as always. I have aquestion about Hoka Cielo X1. Some say one should not run in this shoe on treadmill. Is it true??? I wonder why.
I think it's a super trainer.. Not for competition.. But the price is crazy.. Wait for the sale. Hoka and Puma have amazing sales.
Lot of people seem unhappy with the laces.
Great video, hope Mach 6 gets a review.

We’re on the same page. It’s a long run cruiser more than anything else

I'm trying to decide between the Rocket X2 and this for my next marathon. A comparison video would be helpful. Please and thank you!
Thanks for the kind request. Let’s do it!
I heard a lot of good things about the rocket x2, so I wonder how they compare!
Could you please compare this with sc trainer v1?
They should of put the X2 upper on the x1!

I haven't tested that yet. Definitely something I will update in a following video on this shoe. What other issues did you face? Thanks a lot

Would you recommend this shoes for marathon? Because I am going to take my first marathon shoes haha 😅
Yes they are marathon shoes for sure

Comparison between this, Prime X (2) and the ASICS Superblast would be interesting.
I thought RX2 has been discontinued?
No it's still part of the HOKA family. The "fast" shoes are now: Cielo X1, Rocket X2, Mach X and Cielo Road. Maybe a rotation video is needed.

Ceilo x1 or Rocket x2, which shoe has the softest foam?
I'd argue that the Rocket X 2 feels softer

Wide Hoka 🎉🎉🎉
Did you say 7mm drop?
It can't be a Hoka one 😅
Correct…and yes it’s a HOKA 😅
So true to size or 1/2 size down?
Why this shoe instead of Rocket X 3?
I assume they started two-year cycles and the next to renew will be the Rocket X family
@@AlexFilitti Will you be doing a comparison between the two?
Cielo X1 or Rocket X2?
more like the fast r from puma no?

See my answer to your other comment. Thanks for commenting and asking this great question
Compare vs prime x 1
Will do!
Too heavy, too expensive. I'll stick with my beloved Rocket X2.
Très lourd... Chez li-ning la shadow2 pro fait 275grs 10 US.... Et c'est plus abouti techniquement. Sinon ce n'est pas comparable avec des vaporfly.
Certainement une chaussure marketing cette nouvelle hoka !?
Only problem is the weight.. 💔
A Wide Hoka cant believe this😅
It’s wide in the forefoot but not through the whole shoe
more of prime-x and rebellion pro 🤷♂
Disappointed😢
I will keep my rocket X2 for sure
