- In this episode of Building My Dream Shop, we continue with the Metal Roof by wrapping up the remaining Standing Seam Metal Roof Panels. We have quite a few Metal Valleys to still finish up before we can get onto the Metal Ridge Cap. Unfortuneatly we can not move on to the Ridge Cap until all metal panels are installed.

Now when I see literally any other contractor video of a building being built, in contrast to you, it makes them seem like they are building in the Stone Age. Absolutely incredible work, I’ve been enjoying this series as my prime mode of entertainment.
Absolute 🐐’s
Some things I’ve been wanting to see as I study your videos in hopes of making my own post frame structure someday:
1. How to DIY prep a pad for concrete
2. How to source materials (especially if you’ve never done it before)
3. How to choose fasteners, and knowing where they all go (building codes for the different structural screws/nails? I see you using certain fasteners in certain places but idk why)
4. How to get an engineer/draw up building plans
5. How to get inspections so that buildings are up to code and are legal
6. How to do/plan for electrical (or how to contract an electrician)
Would love your input on any of these less-talked about topics for us beginners. Thanks!!! :)
The roof isn’t even finished and still look RIDICULOUS.
Honestly wish I could afford these guys!
Good morning men of class. We meet again.
attention to detail, great work, learn something every time I watch your videos.
We need craftsmen like you in our part of the world !! Great work !!
"This is a small piece for me, but one giant roofing for mankind!"
I'm bleeding from just watching. Beautiful roof men.
Another interesting video. I hope you pay Greg very well.
The content, along with the editing, is continuously improving!
Nice “Lose Yourself” reference at 7:03
That’s it.. leave them thirsty for more.
Greg is pretty funny 😊 and keeps thing moving smoothly. 👍
That roof job is top of the line. Am I worthy of doing the same workmanship. I guess we shall see. I guess I'm going to have to watch some of your videos again just to make sure I don't forget the details when I do my next job.
The roof looks primo.
Great job as always guys. 🏴🏴👍👍
Just two dudes doin’ work. Great video as usual!
Beautiful Work Gents! Thanks
I like Greg's tool pouch snacks. When he brought out the Pez candy dispenser - that was too cool. Oh, great job on the roof too.
I have said it before but I wish you were in PA. You do fantasic work. True craftsmen.
I feel the hammer fist blow every time you do it. The little I've done, I used a rubber mallet
I wish your videos were longer, I really enjoy watching and learning from your channel
Beautiful workmanship like always,GOD BLESS
Beautiful building.
Wow I used to watch this channel alot when it first started than stopped watching it for several months. Now you have over 1 million subscribers, I'd say you made it.
These guys are MASTERS of there trades!!!
Nice job guys. Gonna be a very unique and cool looking roof.
I always really like roof day the steel looks clean and y'all's steps to achieve the finish product yeah I would do siding up there before putting your last panels on it will make a short when you finish though Greg is a Super Star
Oh no a premier! Hopefully he used exposed fastener metal roofing!
We had a supplier tell us they couldn’t make the length of standing seam we needed. Said we would have to 2 piece it overlap it. We found out very quickly like you did at the start of the valley that this is not possible. Magically they were able to make our length after we showed them that overlapping was not possible.
La squadra migliore di RUclips 👍👍👍👍👍
14:17 Always have paper towels and electricians tape around for when you might need a band aid.
Don't forget to remove the plastic coating on the roof panels. ❤❤❤❤❤
Good morning happy Saturday morning 👍👌😀
Yo I cracked up so hard when Kyle slam dunked the plastic into Greg's trash bag😂
That is a beautiful looking roof, as far as roofs go. Great Job Kyle and Greg and camera man. Excellent craftsmanship! I cannot even imagine what it would cost to hire someone that can do as good as you and Greg? I hope that you give us a cost breakdown on the roof install and material. I realize this is for your own shop but you have to be factoring opportunity costs while it ties up your time. I would also like to hear your thoughts on whether a DIY-er should even attempt it or not. Thanks Kyle and Greg and team.
Thats a beauty...
It's a beautiful building. I don't know if I would subject myself to that level of punishment for a personal shop building - the more basic the better
You know what Greg, I strive to have your level of chill. I let too much bother me. (definitely not talking about annoying bosses) 😂
Just had a thought when I saw Greg hopping from sheet to sheet when he got on the scissor lift trying to keep his shoes clean. You should put a door mat or a piece of carpet up on the lift with you to wipe your feet off. Shake it out frequently to keep it clear of metal boogers.
Good choice on stopping for easier soffit work!
Moral victories can cause more aggravation!
Great job, but every time I look at that roof, I will know there is a scratch up there. Lol
“Why don’t you use the tool I gave you?” 😳🤣👍🇺🇸
Looks like Kyle might need an IFAK in the megadeck.
Good morning guys
Get your gloves and belt on and get to work...
Haven’t seen that Milwaukee in some time
This series has elevated my enjoyment of your channel immensely. I look forward to every one of these videos. Kyle and Greg are freaking awesome. @RR - do you guys do anything in southwest Ohio?
4:50 ... "The Bigger the tape, the smaller the problem" should be on a T-Shirt!!!
its hard not to use you hand as a hammer or rubber mallet , but when you get older you will wish you took the time to lift one. at 55 i had to have a bone that joins my thumb to my wrist removed it was riddled with rheumatoid arthritis. take the time Kyle 😉 hasnt not stopped me working 😁
I do the EXACT same thing with frozen pizzas! Thanks for making me NOT feel like the only nut out there. 😂
Great move putting a mike on Greg. He's been the mysterious sidekick for far to long...
Great vid. Why for the butyl did you not remove the silicone release tape in the valley?? Thx
Hello from Kazakhstan 🇰🇿
If you love the montage leave your like👍
Woah Woah Woah. Im like 4 minutes in seems like a lot of Greg bashing going on. Keep it in check Kyle.
I think I may be slow to notice, but this is the first I noticed that Greg was microphoned up too.... Great episode, would love to see the ol' "bag over the head " trick!
Kyle I do the same exact thing when I make frozen PIZZA. Glad I'm not the only one with that kind of ocd lol
“It’s tough being you” 😂
The Metal Sales Image II Striated panels come in 24g or 26g according to their web site. Could you share which gauge you used. I get conflicting recommendations for a residential 'metal' roof in Virginia - Metal, Aluminum, different gauges - trying to make an informed decision. Thanks in advance.
Good morning
What is the thing u using in the valley so u do scrap up valley while u install the panel
Frozen pizza...you mean there are people that DON'T do that? Weirdos...
Greg, you did a great job on that teaching moment to Kyle. Looks like he learned a thing or two! Keep up the great work!
Almost! - I don't remove topping to add back on, I just cover them with more cheese and add more toppings...
@@paulcochran1721A feller Approves! :)
“Do your best, WeatherLogic tape the rest.”
Need a little touch up paint pen to hit those raw edges...and that scratch that WILL bug you until the end of time...lol 😁

It sucks how OCD bleeds into everything in life! Organize pepperoni 🍕 on a pizza is borderline extreme! Lol
Just a suggestion from an old guy: Instead of using your hand, as a hammer, use the butt end of your hammer handle to set your pieces. Your hands will thank you much later and it gets the job done without scratching, or denting, up your metal/etc.
If you haven't bled for a project, have you actually done the project? Roof is looking good!
Hey guys great job you consider solar on this roof?
I do the exact same with frozen pizza!
"Safety third kids [holding up two and two half fingers]" - Kyle
Kyle I had to laugh when you said oregano and italian seasoning, we buy cheese pizzas and add our topping, those seasonings and cheese.
"I just went off math. So, if it's wrong, that's on you" - Greg
"Why don't you hit it with your purse?" - Kyle
Pizza sounds good but I would drizzle some Garlic/Butter on top.
That's EXACTLY how you deal with store bought pizza. Wife and I do this every time! 🧀😄
I would say 2 beads of sealant to all laps should be made. Don’t just rely on 1 when there’s plenty of lap to go at. 👍🏼
Look at you trying to act like you know something
@@daveklein2826 no acting here Dave!
I tried snap locking by punching it don’t think I have the same mcgreggor bone density as you 😂 a rubber mallet and some light weight cut resistant gloves can do wonders.
Can anyone clarify what that netting under the metal is and why is it needed?
It's not needed, and likely makes oil canning more of a possibility.
Its called cedar breather. It basically is a giant spacer that allows air under the sheets to aid in drying ;also an easy way for water to escape, should any get past the stee. l
In this application it really wasn't needed ,since that peel and stick roof membrane was used.
@@stevemcginn9200thanks!
Try topping the pizza with a bit of spaghetti sauce. It needs to be added after the cheese melts, but it really adds an extra something.
Like a brand new doctor-he has no patience 😅 I’ll see myself out
Осторожнее с металлом, сегодня серьёзно порезал большой палец на руке, пришлось зашивать
Why not pour a cement foundation with plumbing. Bring in a steel building and set it up in a week.
Frame the ends and interior walls and garage door.
Hang the insulation, drywall, texture and paint.
The process is called prefab.
The foundation is also steel reinforced and stronger than a post foundation with one complete cement pour that connects where the shear wall is supported on the perimeter where the pour is deeper and tied in reinforced steel.
Offering options I would think would help your business as your post foundation, though I admit the finished product is beautiful, would more than likely not be approved in California or any state prone to earthquakes.
Also with steel no termites.
I would appreciate your opinion of that process. Thanks
This building is literally sitting on a stem wall. And no steel building is going to look like this. You’re literally recommending he changes his business into a completely different company 😂
@@smcox1991 I appreciate the take. It seems to me the perimeters are drilled holes and spaced apart then filled with cement and hardware installed while the cement is wet.
We have the USA version of Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez the hispanic boxing champ
Morning. What did you say your name is Sir? Oh hello Greg, great show. Lol
😁👍🏼
Greg, how’s it working for both the boss and the client? 😂
I also evenly space all my pepperoni and add some cheese
I have been wondering about this for several years now, is Greg an employee or a business partner?
Hopefully he ties his shoe
I do the same thing with my frozen pizzas😅
You should tie you shoe laces while on that roof !!
@7:00 eminem? 🤘
Rough crowd this morning 😅😅
If you watch the video on .5 speed they're the most talented drunk roofers on the planet
I did this and can’t stop laughing!!!
Say something Gregg understands but someone else wouldn't
I guess you didn't capture it, you just let it slipped lol
Somebody please send Kyle some gloves!
What do the neighbors say about the huge shop in their backyard
Who cares what they think
A lot of crap talked on Greg for a guy who left the backing on his tape when he installed the panel twice.
“So you can judge and correct me”. Things getting salty. They need a vacation.
