I think Greg is doing a great job channeling his inner Al Borland. Gotta start doing a little salute 😊
I dont think so Tim
The #1 thing most people miss when doing work this good.... is he made a bunch of mistakes in the past and hopefully at the same time was taught good practices. I'm no where this level but I've built projects that are bigger by 100x. It's refreshing to see seasoned pros like RR putting out content like this. Normally I'd just walk through a project and admire good work or bad work and go about my day. Thank you for this channel! You actually have taught me a lot and I have the upmost respect for you because you are the elite and thank you for putting out content like this!
The geometry and cuts for the T Ridge caps are a thing of beauty !
Kyle, can y'all he hired to come out to middle Tennessee Nashville area and build a barndominium? You guys are the best. Im now going through your entire 39 video playlist and truly blown away by the quality and attention to detail.
I like how you say it both ways, ruff and roof, and sometimes both in the same sentence!
😄 I noticed the same thing. He usually says "ruff", but once in a while a "roof" makes an appearance, and I think, "so you DO know how to pronounce that word!"
57 min video on ridge cap I stall, now that's ballsy. love it guys
I bet it's useful for the few applying these techniques to the metal roofs they do. I'm the part of the audience with a short attention span and not a huge fan of installing metal roofing. I don't mind it as a product but cutting and bending metal, not for me.
You guys fuel my fantasies. To build something awesome that is.
That is so remarkable. Thanks Greg and Kyle for the lesson. I hope that I can do this on my own build.
I'am your fan because I love perfection and you work are nearly 100% to be perfect congratulation both of you and few times your son have done an awesome job 🇵🇷
Thank you so much 😀
@@RRBuildingsThe world is changing for you from GOD.
Are you Irish?
Dagestanis (Caucasians) are very similar to us
I really like your work. High quality👍
Met with my local versetta stone rep today fianlly gonna use the product on a job i have coming up. He asked where I heard about them and I told them "RR Buildings" and he had no idea what I was talking about which was wild.
That's just a derelict of job duties in my opinion.😅
@@mattiefattie3895 I mean I have to imagine these guys have done more for promotion than their entire marketing/pr department? Lll
Absolutely perfection! Great job!
It's about time! I have trying to get you too use a vented Z for a long time.
Keep up the great work and God bless.
I really like watchin you guys work. The attention to detail is amazing.
Its all in the detail, great job as always
I'm loving those new vented precut Z trims, that roof is superb gents🤌
You guys are amazing! Incredible work.
Masterclass!
Just finished my outing at Top Golf in Myrtle Beach SC and soon as I arrived back at the suite, I jumped onto the computer to check out the next episode of RRBuildings 'My Dream Shop' Watching this video is an exclamation point to the long busy day. It's 9:26pm est.
Love the videos that building is awesome bro that is what I call a garagedeaminium 😮
Tough job but I think you guys nailed it. Well done!
Amazing details!
Great work, love it 👍
I like that ridge cap detail where the peaks come together, sort of a ridge cap within a ridge cap.
GREG--best marital advice I can give you (from 28 years on happy and still in love) is something, believe it or not, we found on one of those tacky "faux barnwood" signs you get at Cracker Barrel with the wire hangers and that has been in our bedroom ever since. Here's what it says, and if you live this, you will survive and be happy too:
"Don't go to bed mad. Stay up and fight."
(smile--seriously!)
love the attention to detail on everything you do. I wish you and the Perkins crew were closer to each other and could collab more. Your videos are quite relaxing and i love the longer format as well.
The ridge cap is awesome!!! I think u did a great job!!! Don't under estimate ur work!!! Great videos!!! Looking 2 do a small house and garage.
Really enjoying the camera work - loved the pan & zoom on the blood covered plastic.
Nearly an hour-long episode!, feature length! Awesome! Thanks for experimenting with a longer vlog, hope we see more longer videos in the future
Good morning happy Thursday 👍 😃🙏🙏🙏✌️👍Great job
Gute Arbeit Jungs!
Sheetmetal workers. Been in HVAC all my life . Good work
Be proud of your parter, push them but be their cheerleader as well, a relationship is work, and just like the amazing building’s you create when you put in work with Kyle, you will create something long lasting, high quality, safe, beautiful and valuable in your marriage with the same will and attention to detail.
Hey Kyle, I'm impressed with your work as always. I often cut my fingers at work too. When that happens, I stop the bleeding with instant glue 👍👍👍🇯🇵
This whole series makes me wish I could go back 6-7 years to when I had my standing seam roof put on and I could have gotten it done right.
On a long ridge, you can lay out ridge caps from end to end and string the point straight. Then you just walk along and mark the edges and hold off an eighth.
congratulations Mr Greg on your upcoming nuptials. Biggest thing for success is working things out, especially when they go wrong. Your partner is someone to spar with, both intellectually and practically. Which normally coincides with one party conceding (spoiler - that generally means you). And Trust in each other.
Longtime subscriber to this channel and i just gotta say that i miss toolsday. 😢
Trim carpenters on a roof, and i am here for it!
When you were bleeding Greg the your red logo was overlaying it.
Got me to thinking on why you chose red, barns aren't red....bloood is 😅😅
In Aviation we typically install the rivets that are exposed to the outside of the aircraft with sealant. We call it installing the rivets wet, to prevent water from seeping through the head of the rivet
Gregg, as long as you invest in each other, delite in hearing about your differing days and work to make time for each other you will have the first five points of any good "great marriage equation.
Wow that looks amazing very nice job 😎🥃🥃🥃🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮
Great looking roof, if your roofing supplier does not have a touch up pen for scratches you can go to a auto parts store and match up the colour with an auto touch up paint pen, just a thought.
Hey Greg. Ephesians 5:25-33. Love ya.
Хорошая работа.
Layout your two roof lines, both sides one on top of the other. measure where the z vents would put the outer edge of the vent top hem on both the 5/12 and the 4/12 roof, and a tiny discrepancy will be seen in the distance from the Z metal on one side to the other in each roof case. At a guess, you probably need to fudge the last couple of z vents to get the closure closer to the metal at the intersection. I wouldn't be giving a lot of those "other fellas" too much credit- some of them can't get the nearly the "pop" you do when you do one your way.
Super Glue and some Vinyl tape on the cuts.
Man, it was almost a great job, Sorry about the alignments not looking right. You probably see every day too. Great video editing. 👍👍👍
QUICK TIP…. CARRY A LITTLE BOTTLE OF SUPER GLUE [ BRUSH ON WORKS EASIEST ] FOR THE LITTLE CUTS 😉
Day 3 magnetic boots. Good decision.
We used to use a hammer at the same time as bending works most of the time
Well hello there!
Consider making a jig for installing the ridge cap cleats
Kyle, we are really enjoying your videos, and it was great meeting you and Greg at NFBA show. Have done the difference between Spray Foam and Rockwool? Thank you for all the helpful hints and techniques.
You are very professional, I am Nicaraguan, I live in Miami, FL, many Latinos follow you, you should put subtitles in Spanish, thank you, blessings 👍
Have you ever thought about “wet setting” your rivets with your through the roof sealant? We do this a lot in my field of aviation maintenance to seal rivets in fuel tanks, as well as the pressurized sections of the fuselage.
Kyle, a one foot ridge cap template will be easer to move around next time. Always improving.
The Amish would give you an excellent lesson on no caulk seals from multiple complex angles! Get with them.
The ballet with tin snips....bleeding on the soloist in the pit...lol
Your familiarity with this roof system ...and difficulties --no problem...
Careful roof will last and ensured lifespan keeping you dry...Get er done..!
To hide rivets and approach the manufacturer requirements, maybe you could use shorter pieces of ridge flashing? Half length pieces leads to double the fasteners.
You need to carry a tube of super glue to put on your cuts to close them
35:12 was like an old school action movie, but instead of Greg catching an MP5 it was the caulk gun lol
Greg, just remember that "what is hers is hers and what is yours is hers and all will be well"
Never 😊...what's mine is mine..never give in..
@@2nickles647. Yep, and if she doesn't like it, I'll give her directions to the highway
YES^^^^^^😂😂😂
@@rickbusch7911 yes sir. I've worked very hard for the lifestyle she has. I don't ever give in. She may want fancy new rides. Bigger diamonds to wear to church and show it off. Noooo Sir. Enough is enough
Barring a tornado that roof will be there for your grandchildren to enjoy a dry building. They will be like grandpa built this building and we have the video.
Really love this series of videos, digging the high quality work and detail
Give us a shot of that ridge cap again it is off 1/64 th near the end !
Get time to install newly commissioned RR Buildings weather vane - or two or three.
Whenever I say "it's good enough" I usually follow it with "ill just lose sleep at night"
WWGD!!!😁
You need a band aid sponsor!!
With as much time as you spend on the roof, I would think you would have your harnesses on. One slight slip results in 20 foot fall. I realize that sometimes the safety harnesses are a PITA to deal with, but any fall will put you out of commission for months. Not sure if that convenience is a fair trade-off to you long term well-being.
Kyle, you need a 6” hand seamer.
Gotta work on that Band-Aid channel sponsorship!
👍
For a happy marriage this is the best advice my wife and I ever received. When you fight, fight naked. This advice has served us well for 24 years.
pitches are not different... for the valleys to line up... the stem of the t ridge would need to extend beyond it's current point by the amount the ridge cap is elevated from the valley... unfortunately there is no way to correct for this because then the top of the t would not line up with its ridge... love this channel... you guys are awesome
Not at single drop of water will get in, in the next 1000 years!! When I win the lottery I'll hire you to build my dream workshop here in Portugal! Cheers!!
Episode brought to you by Band Aid
Happy wife = Happy life Greg
You need to keep some superglue in your bag, for every time you slice yourself open!!
hey navy seal lookalike roofer , lone survivor lol, u dont have time to bleed, red cross stalking u for blood drive lol, nice work sir
We need a counter for every time Kyle says double beaded butyl tape 😂😂😂
8:43 Greg making sure the camera guy is hearing this too.
That is a bad ass ridge system. I am very curious how that works out 10+ yr. Down the road , I’m betting it’ll be lots better that half backed out screws or dealing with all those damn rivets.
😊😊😊😊😊
Bob Vila of the modern internet age.
I'm surprised they don't make T shaped ridge caps for where two ridges meet, so you don't have to do all the cuts and sealant and math. They could make them in a bunch of common angles - Ts, Crosses, etc. Maybe they do.
Right when Kyle thought he cut his hand, a movie ad for Echo popped up, and it started with a bloody hand hanging there. 😅
To have a happy marriage, you carefully lift the fold and shoot the goo in. I saw it on youtube.
My wife is from Thailand and she takes care of Johnny the siamese cat. She is a clean freak and only because she moved from our house in the country where the cat found her to soi 24 in Bangkok she allowed the cat in the house. The process included the cat box etc. with a person who won’t let you come in the house with shoes and wants to wash my feet when I come home you can only imagine how clean she is. We are talking cleaning toilets every day sometimes multiple times. The cat gets his butt cleaned after he uses the box. Now anytime the cat goes he calls her to clean the box and him. She says he’s calling MA MA . Just like he heard her calling her mother. Johnny came to America and he’s living in Texas. It’s been cold so he won’t go outdoors yet. That cat is at her feet most of the time when he’s feeling good and he always wants my attention. They are both very sensitive 😂
The cat hasn’t gotten a shower yet but if he would let her it would be all the time.
Johnny doesn’t have the cleanest paws around
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
You gotta do a cut counter in your videos
try using super glue on the cuts after glue is set use sandpaper on the rough spots
Easy.
Kyle, I have a question about what you think is the better idea. Looking at having a post frame home built over a basement. The layout I'm looking at is similar to your new shop but just one end would have a perpendicular section compared to the rest. After doing the valley detail on yours, do you think it's worth the extra money to have the garage, which would be perpendicular to the rest of the house, have a higher side wall so the other roof line dies into a side wall instead of what you did on yours? Thanks for any insight, I've been watching for the last 5 years getting ideas. Edited to say I'm also wanting a standing seam roof also.
to find the center of the peak you could use a bipod and plumb bob. or a bipod and laser. then measure from the laser out 6" or whatever out to the mark
Could you make up one section of the z channel with a piece of roof vent as a template to make your starting marks to snap your line?
I think Kyle needs a bandage company sponsorship 😅
8:45 Greg looking back like...
Question: What is the best ridge cap system to use on a non vented roof using that same metal roofing material?
So you seal it and it doesn't let anything in but it's supposed to be a vent right? How does the air get out but not in? I have a headache. Sorry, you guys are doing a good job.
