That is a really good idea on off cuts, makes good use of otherwise scrap material. Another bit of cheap insurance is to stain the sub-fascia board with a solid stain deck stain. It lasts a very long time as it will never see the UV rays like the deck boards do. We try to use the same colour as what the metal trim will be. We'll do all sides of the board as well, just in case there is a water leak. From a homeowners using a roof rake to remove snow, that might damage shingles, trims and gutters, etc. Something that we started doing a while back is to also use the roofing barrier to go over the board as well, especially going into inside corners on a wall surface. It's a really simple to do, cheap per cost of the entire job, gives the homeowner piece of mind. I cannot tell you how many times doing that could, would, have saved the repairs that we do. A couple hundred bucks would have saved thousands. Sub- material prep is the most important, spend the bucks there, it'll save you a ton of money in the long run. JMHO. Great stuff your posting, very much looking forward to the smart-side install..!!😎👍
A pole frame structure is impressive I watched the build of the 48' x 80' building, impressive; the 3 day build of the framing. However the best part is now the interior walls can be changed if once lay out is done and you do a walk thru the building to see if any interior walls be added or moved. This is the benefit of this build opposed to stick framing build of a house. PLUS your crew can come in do the exterior shell and a homeowner could finish the interior of the house. Enjoyed watching the channel. Thanks😁
Interesting seeing how you guys do it over there! Metal is super rare over here in England, we use upvc for all our fascia, soffit and gutter. Yours looks great though, such a clean job
@@DrMJJr it's uv stable, only thing it does is expand slightly, but we make sure it's installed with slight gaps to allow for that, they're covered with trim so you don't see it
Accepting our mistakes is growth in humility, something tells me that if you were doing this for a customer you would re-order the correct size soffit material
You need a gutter guy that does custom corners instead of the off the shelf corner boxes. They will look 10 times better and you will only have one seam hidden right in the corner. Also instead of those kick outs for the down spout have him pickup custom set backs. Any decent gutter supply company can either make them or order them. Most gutter guys won’t do either because it takes more time and more skill, but if you like attention to detail. The end product will be way better. Also over time the screws they use for down spouts will rust over time and debris will get caught on them. Rivets is the best option to join everything together. Been doing gutters for over 25 years. Just my opinion.
I do a lot of aluminum soffit with lp or hardie fascia. The most cost effective way to do it would have been f-channel on the wall of the shop. And then nail the soffit to the bottom of the sub fascia. After that u bend up an aluminum L flashing to cover the cut end on the sub fascia and then nail it on the face of the sub fascia. Then u just roll the lp fascia over top.
I thought you were talking about porridge until I looked at the video and saw that you meant porch. I was like "wow these guys really switched it up! "
Really coming together and looking good Kyle! The only thing that would drive me nuts with the soffit is, since it’s all black, the white “dots” visible from the backside of the panel secured to the porch beams. Looks out of place with all the black. I know it’s minor, but once you see it, it’s hard to NOT see it 🤪
Your craftsmanship is second to none. I really appreciate the insight and content. What is the square foot cost of your materials for a barndo in your style. We are planning a build and wondered the added cost of the upgraded materials.
While many RUclips channels promote products, RRBuildings actually use it. If Kyle uses it on his own building, then you know it is going to be a good product. The SpeedLap soffit design is excellent, wish i'd had it on my house when I built it.
I understand your point but Kyle and Greg always do it their way. Made for TV/Reality is everything but meaning, it's all a show. These boys are way too good for that nonsense.
Downspouts are always an issue. I have thought about installing 3 or 4" pvc in the wall for your downspouts and have it come out at the bottom. All hidden.
So my wife and I are building a bardo in central OK right now. But I heard you’re doing board and batten siding. Is that metal board and batten? Just curious cause I saw where you’re applying some additional tape where your patio cover attaches to the wall for moisture protection. Do you recommend that for people using metal board and batten?

I would almost certainly use a mini-ex to dig the trenches on that sie before I'd use the skid steer trencher attachment. Why are you use a trencher over a mini ex?
You really need to pick up a Dewalt 60v blower and retire that baby 20v Milwaukee blower. I've got thousands in Milwaukee tools, but their blower doesn't hold a candle to the Dewalt 60v.
Shop is looking great. Love your attention to detail. Thanks Kyle.
I have that same small yellow ladder- use it so much. And I Saved big money at Menards!
That detail using the roofing as the fascia is genius, awesome job
Great idea adding the black fascia metal before fascia board! Looks beautiful!

Love the craftsmanship!
always amazing how much of the building thought and processes are to keep water out.
13:04 words to live by, gotta respect that attitude
On my soffit, I used a 3” aluminum facia then covered it with a 6” azek trim.

17:36 wouldn't you want the front fascia over the side fascia to not see the seam?
Kyle, from years of doing soffit when siding houses, I staple the J-Channel. Just my tip. It will hold great.

Nice nailer, I want one.
Can’t wait for those doors!!!
FYI, You covered the wood with the tape so you dont see the wood, however, the other side has white on the inside of the J channel.
In which video you reviewed the new cordless coiled Paslode Nailer?
You should do more gutter installation videos
Never fails, even when you say you made a mistake, that Greg didn't catch I might add, it still turned out great... Lol
Just wondering why you’re not putting an air Barrier behind the board and batting siding?
The Tom Silva of post frame. Get RR on tv already!

Are the support posts 6x6”?
Is that the paslode sidling nailer, we aren’t supposed to see!?
17:19 is this the new Paslode we weren’t supposed to see yet????
How do you finish the bottom of the porch post? Or do you just leave the bracket exposed?
The gutters look a little small for the size of roof/building. Is that because the building is so big or are they only 4” gutters?
Hey Greg & Kyle Why do you staple the soffits instead of screwing them ?
Wygląda dobrze.
Nawet bardzo dobrze🙂
Let's see. Hmm. Perfect!
Downspouts are always an issue. I have thought about installing 3 or 4" pvc in the wall for your downspouts and have it come out at the bottom. All hidden.

Hey Kyle, have you gotten your hands on the new dewalt framer? Thoughts?
Should I taped up the corners of the facia

Are you going to put a metal Tee's on the front to dress up the wood beams?

Are you gonna build flairs new shop ?
Really nice. Are trees potentially going to clog the back gutters.
How do you rate the badger belts man?
why do you not 45 the corners for fascia board but for metal fascia? i like the look of 45, but installing is so much easier end to end

I'm really getting good curious how Kyle's going to weatherproof the paint. 😂
Spend the money and use PVC for the tile instead of perforated. Perf is just gonna clog up and collapse.
