- In this episode of Building my Dream Shop, I tackle some crazy roof details. Why did I do this to myself? I truly made this roof way harder than it should have been or needed to be. Think all this work was worth it? Let me know in the comments down below.

I spit out my drink with the pixelation! LOL🤣
I was kinda disappointed to be honest…😁
💯
Absolutely hilarious 🤣🤣🤣
The editor was having a good time.
I laughed so hard my wife gave me the side eye!!
Michael the videographer and editor… @1:45 the butt blur for the win! LOL. Nice work my friend.
❤ the pixelation detail 🤣
Nice roofing detail as well 👍
“Does it matter? Hell yes, it matters!” Could be a T-shirt!
I have always said if it isn’t hard it’s not worth doing it has made me over the years. Miss a lot of sleep and questioned whether I was a mental nut job😂 but the things that are hard to do. I pull in my driveway every day and look at them and just smile. Glad I did it. I think you’re the same way.
As an Architect who also has a builders licence in Australia - I salute you!
When you started, all these details you are having to deal with now were at the front of my mind in how you would achieve them and also, from the beginning a thought of dread for when you got to this step, I knew it would be full on!
Keep it up, loving this series!
It's all these little details that make the work excellent....This is one of the reasons why I love watching your videos.
Ditto. Well done, Kyle & Greg. 🫡
Every time we get to the "Ta-Da" point, you go to another level of minutia. Amazing attention to detail, Kyle.
Passload has been around forever! I’m 58 in April, and my dad used the on the job since the early 70’s. We used the framing nailers and ram shots to fasten the bottom plates! They’ve become less popular in Oklahoma over the decades though!
Best looking bird nesting or wasp nest location I have seen on a shop! 😂
exactly what I thought too it'll be fun trying to get those wasp nests out of there without that scissor lift
Yep, also rat, squirrel, raccoon ...
Not the way i would frame or flash a return.
@@ted7xI’m no builder ace like Kyle, and my sense is maintenance will be next to none because of all these details and layers of protection. So impressed.
I just commented the same thing.
Great job as always guys. 👍👍🏴🏴
Meticulous, awesome, and even a better celebration at the end? Fun too!
Phenomenal work. There isn’t many guys out there who even think at this level let alone do the work at this level. I’d love to work with you guys!
What a showpiece of modern construction. Congratulations, guys! 🎉
Looks great! Thanks for showing us the details!
Great video, Kyle, as usual! I love the details in the flashing you did.
You guys are doin such a awesome job!!!
Great job men!!
Looking GREAT!!!!!
looks amazing Kyle and Greg.
Amazing work, as always.
RR Buildings with the Bozeman Build publication!! Kyle, you the man! Congrats on all your success!
Sharp, loving it. 😮
The black looks awesome!
Love the train in the background
It was all worth the extra money and work! awesome looking detail! Can’t wait to see the LP siding go up.
Thx for blurring views! Work is great.
amazing detail
Looks awesome 👏🏻👏🏻
Looking good, and the details are always meticulous as always!
The paslode coil nailer has been asked for for 20 years.
Having installed miles of fence pickets with 400 ft of airhose, this will be a welcome change for many.
It's a good thing this is a ss roof ,and only will be done once.
If shingles were used and standard siding needing paint every 20 yrs would be high $ in maintenance .
Am guessing the dormer/gables have added a minimum of 30% labor and 40% in material costs.
This is where a modern shed dormer shines.
No valley ,and can be added onto a standard A-frame...without changing the trusses below.
Either way it looks great!
Looking good
Great work like always..
Good work.
Looks very nice excellent job
Very nice Kyle. You are so meticulous! Impressive and hope that I would have the patience to do it as well as you do, should I ever tackle this sort of roof job.
Smart Job!
I’m thankful for the pixelation, that wasn’t the sort of valley I wanted to see more of.
The stuff you guys were using for caulking back in the 70s use to build grain bins it was used on the seams of the rings that stuff is awesome 👌
Kyle got the cake!
You're briliant worker, man. Respect from Russia.
Yellowjackets will love those niches no matter how well they are weather sealed. But if you spray the surfaces with a residual like Bifenthrin every spring that should keep them away.
Doing God's work, Sir! Godspeed!
Super clean and I thought the same thing using coil stock on the flashing detail probably would have to buy a whole roll but great details man it looks great
I think you might regret the smart siding on the facia up against the end of the dormers so close to the valley. It looks great, but the way those areas collect moisture will most likely reach the back of the siding. Also, some through the roof on the back side of that flashing cap would help it stick.
They look cool but I stay away from that stuff for that reason. Ease of install makes for a smooth job
...and a smooth renovation when the time comes!
Good morning happy Thursday 👍
If the customer really wants it, is willing to pay for it, and knows that it has the potential to cause more problems, and cost down stream. Sure do it. On the other hand it doesn’t hurt to look out for your customer in the long run and steer them clear of doing things better.
I love the detail of your work, you take the time to use one piece instead of hacking 2 or more to do the same job.
That’s some remarkably intricate/complex trim cutting.
Amazed at how you did that clever. Pixalating youre Butt Kyle 😆😅 maybe the Laydees would like a lingering look.😋 thanks for the series loving it!!.
Butt Pixelmania😂😂😂 Kyle, you make my Day👍👍👍
I bet your Wife told you that you have to pixel your butt😁
That black really did turn out nice all you have to do is think about how the rain is going flow and then you’re good to go
Looks so Frankenstein sharp.
Give Kyle a piece of scrap metal plate , a rusty old scissors and in 2 minutes he'll make a beautiful origami for you 😅
I know you love smart siding products...Have you ever used any Miratec?...Simply amazing stuff...hard as a rock and doesnt swell after getting wet...I built 3 large sets of custom farm style shutters almost 2 years ago...the end cuts have been laying in a small trash wood pile, 100% exposed the whole time...the ends where I cut them off are still like the day I cut them...ZERO SWELLING after 2 years of rain, snow, sun...MFG by Jeld-Wen...Coming along nicely guys
If you were installing regular double lock standing seam then you can just hammer over the seam instead of having to use z-bar, it's pretty sweet. You'd probably like installing it more too.
23:23 missed painting a nail head. Had already gave the video a thumbs up. Thought about pulling my subscription.
I'm sure it was intentional, just to make sure we were all still paying attention.🤔 Now Greg's gonna have to climb up there and double-check all the nails, and it's all your fault.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😊
Kyle for the win!!!
Looks great Kyle and Greg! Are you going to clip the ends of the rake fascia? It's just a tiny triangle, but I think it looks nice when it's done.
At 4:00 ... your protecting plastic looks really like the Golden Gate Bridge ... 🙂
If u want the ability to slid the metal on the mastic smear a little calk on it
Investing the time to make a detain as nice as possible is like doing something you hate because your dad told you that it builds character.
Whats up with the beard, Kyle? You look like ZZ Top! 😁👍🏼😁👍🏼
Being kind of a perfectionist, i hated doing trim work-i would rather put up the whole damn building myself if someone else did trim. Mainly because i stressed myself way out every single time cuz it seemed like i was never happy with the result. You couldnt see it from the ground, and people would tell me all the time how great it looked. But nooooo, i knew- i knew it was there and it bothered the hell out of me. Anyway, i saw your roof layout and am ecstatic that i dont have to trim that out 🤣. I figured it was gonna be a pain in the rump, but also knew it would look cool when done right, and kyle (&greg) was the guy to do it. Very, very nice job- it's gonna be a one of a one if a kind showpiece when finished. I'm gonna be a little disappointed when its finished, one of my favorite rr builds, but I'm sooooo looking forward to see the end result. As always, another great vid, i really enjoy watching the effort you guys put into your vids and builds.
In my opinion doing all this work was worth it because the aesthetics of the roof are fantastic. Compliments details made by expert tinsmith.
I do standing seam detail all the time transition from head wall to sidewall around fascia cut head wall flush with outside of fascia come down from valley with sidewall even with bottom of head wall trace the pattern of head wall on back side of sidewall cut out 1/2 in bigger bend to go under head wall seal and rivet
Only-Roofs, coming soon!
Can’t wait until your done the roof ahaha
Thanks for blurring out stuff. You did us all a big favor, lol.
Do you use a z closure on the top side of your rake trims, or do they just lock in the cleat on the fascia?
On your gray buttle spit on your finger and wipe it on the tape where you don’t want something to stick for a while. It doesn’t affect the tape and will stick as soon as you put pressure on it.
For the tricky pieces you need to slide up with butyl tape already on the piece, try Windex or Fantastic spray on the roof and the taped piece....slide away.
Starling Birds will nest in that area. For sure!
Find homebuilding magazine is like Playboy or penthouse to construction. That magazine has taken years off my life and a lot of money out of my pocket.😂😂😂😂😂
At one point you said we would not be able to see what you were doing, soooo You would Try to Tell us what You were doing. I that point I knew that I would know what was going on, because You would have No Problem with Telling me what was going on. I say this with Love because I toooo am a Word Smith. Just ask my wife. Anyway....Thanks for your attention to detail. It is sort of a Lost Art now-a-days. PS: Greg is a Saint.
Where in the world do u get the cordless siding nailing I didn’t think they were available in the states
would it be easier to install the soffit before the roof there to simplify the detail
Great video!
Where can I buy that Anitek shirt with the hammer? 2:10 18:33
What paslode are you using for the fascia?
I give it a 9.6 on the pain in the ass scale.
Birds nests and wasp nests are all that is good for bro.
My roof had details just like this. I hated every minute of installing my standing seam in them.
Wouldn’t it have been easier to do this flashing work before the roofing sheet goods of the overhangs are installed?
Hey Kyle, is the "double beaded butyl tape"... from company B?
On a black roof you should have done some boxing to make that detail better. It's like a woman said she wanted it to look a certain way even through it doesn't work.
I see the red barn and I want to paint it black
im ol Greg!! see if anyone gets that reference...
Ooh. First comment! Love this series Kyle!
Glad you enjoy it! Thank you
Great job with the pixelation! Now my wife is acting all hurt and disappointed! She enjoys learning building science seriously, but she also enjoys the Kyle and Greg’s Butt Show! Be careful not to alienate some of your most dedicated fans!
Looks great, however not a fan of making/building something that cannot be repaired w/o deno of this part of roof. Ray Stormont
Why not just leave the sheathing off of the upper roof and then do the flashing (hard part)?
2:03 Yikes…cutting over your leg! 🩸 one slip and your bad day is here!
Camera man preventing that OnlyFans video from happening
Nice work and looks good but not great. I'm sure it could be improved somehow.
Hey! Don't you dare to cut out on the butt shots! It's why I'm here!
You blurred that magnificent ass? How you dare!
What were you thinking
After all this mega fancy challenging metal work isn’t there going to be birds or squirrels under that soffit detail? Going to end up caging it anyways don’t ya think!?
😃👍🏼👍🏼👊🏼👊🏼
Hilarious how your butt is blurred out.
You guys crack me up sometimes.
Why can't we have cake?
