The classic Jimmy Diresta saying (if it looks straight it is straight) I’ve been following you since you built his dream shop
videographer is a magician in post production and filming...WOW!
Kyle, it was awesome to see the real owner and boss on the job. 🤣🤣
Damn Kyle.......you are a professor of construction. Every important detail was clearly explained / defined and shown. And you both make it entertaining. Always great content. Thanks!
QUALITY SELLS ITSELF
ALL DAY LONG!!!
Outstanding Job,
and Great Video! 🇺🇸
Kyle, you've outdone yourself on this build, absolutely fantastic great work for you and Greg.
It looks so clean, I love the shadow lines.
WOW! I love the BLACK. I built my own 12,000 SQFT pole building 30 years ago and sure wish I would have had your videos back then. Mine are still working good but your details are something to be proud of.
Love the look of the black siding
Your attention to detail is amazing. This building is extremely well built. Your great-great grand kids will show this building to their grand kids. It will still be standing firm.
Looks great guys! Great video and construction detail / training also! Love it.
First time seeing black siding, wow great choice, man that looks great,GOD BLESS
The two of you should be patting yourselves on the back with each part of this build because it is awesome. Hopefully you will throw a big party at the completion for every last person that put in their skills to your shop.Stay safe and can wait to see this outside done so you can get to work with the inside.
Wow, that’s looking amazing. You guys are doing a great job and really good content to go along. Thank you.
That looks awesome.Great attention to detail and explanation.
Looks amazing, great job. It'll be a real show piece of your work when its all done.
It's beautiful. Very detailed. Real pro! I'd like this done to my house. Nothing like this in the neighborhood. Fantastic!
"If it's looks straight, it is straight" Jimmy Diresta
Better watch out, Jimmy trade marks that phrase and he'll want a cut of ad revenue!
I hope you realise that when potential customers see R&R HQ 2.0, you'll have more business than you know what to do with! Excellent work Kyle and Greg.
Kyle, this is absolutely fantastic work from you and Greg it looks stunningly good
Absolutely an impressive build 👌 👍
Awesome framers of course! Looks great!
Great attention to detail❤️
Looking awesome guys. Wife's approval said it all.💥💯💥💯👍👍👍👍👍
5/4 refers to the dimension of natural wood when cut green. After second cut or planing it's 1" (and sometimes a bit, as it can vary from mill to mill). It seems that manufacturers of composite materials have adopted that basic measurement to describe the final thickness, so as to ease visualisation of the dimensions of planed natural wood and composite wood products equallly.
its refreshing to see how thoroughly you two build this thing, being knowledgeable about manufacturer specifications and then actually installing the products according to them rather than just cutting things and banging them up
Kyle, Greg
That black siding looks great. Good job guys
Your building is looking great. Nice touch with the ceder shack upper on the front .
Whoa! I was not expecting full goth. Awesome!!
Awesome looking building!
Very cool with the shingled look up high on the wall.
Looks great! Love the black
Wow, what a look! Love it.
Gorgeous building!
RR HQ is looking amazing! Love the channel, the professionalism, and the attention to detail! 🍻
Kyle and Greg. I really like the way you strain the details.
Five quarter is saw mill size. Once dried it gets milled down to one inch. Same with 4 quarter. Dried at 1 inch and milled down to 3/4 inch.
I've always liked board and batten siding.
Dam, that looks really good. Really nice work guys!!!!!!!!
That black B&B looks great. Always liked B&B but have never seen black.
Excellent work and explanations of the various processes. personally, it's all a little too dark for me, perhaps it may contrast better in person? But it's your building, so you do whatever you like! However my wife loved it,
The building looks great
Absolutely looking great 👍
Looks terrific!
I seen that little show where you were interviewed by? Anyway beautiful little family ! I remember that ! Great looking building enjoy!
It's looking beautiful. Can't way to see the next color.
I did the same pattern, board batten sidewalls, lap gables
Love it! Very manly looking! Good job!
Kyle kick it up a notch do a awning roof over the garage doors with timber frame knee braces!!
Seeing more and more of this, I got a chance to design a timber frame home with black exterior and I was drooling myself while working on the drawings.
I love installing smart side it is a beautiful product. Y'all do verry nice work 🤌
They blue is disappearing. I thought of the blue as a memorial to Blue from the movie Old School. You’re my boy Blue! 😂
"If it looks straight, it is straight." --Jimmy Diresta
This is going to be one beautiful looking building.
Black on Black does look awesome. But i wonder what the Grey would’ve looked like for the trims and corners
Excelent job looks awesome
When you have 5/4, it is the “rough cut” when you plain it down you remove some of the surface to make it smooth. This thins it down to the finish thickness.
This doesn’t get planed down… it’s manufactured
@@RRBuildings Ah, but if everything else marked as 5/4 is actually finished to 1", it makes sense to not confuse too many folks who are expecting something marked as 5/4 to be 1" 🙂
4 quarter is a rough sawn measurement. After the milling process is will become thinner making it a 3/4 final measurement.
Looks awesome Kyle! 😃👍🏼👊🏼 .... Jimmy!
Hi Kyle
Wow it looks awesome brother, great work as always...!, from your friends here in Lima Peru
George and Carmen
Damn good looking structure!!!
Stop showing off by 2 gunnin the new Paslode coil nailer lol. Building looks great. Loving this series
Looks awesome, Kyle!
Big Stretch is the best caulk ever...did some farmhouse window frame trims outta cedar years ago after installing new vinyl windows in my 1st home...similar to you...All 5/4 cedar glued with titebond waterproof glue and pocket screwed them together..one coat of Zinzer shellac based primer, then a coat of alkyd primer and lightly sanded them...caulked them in with Big Stretch...two coats of Finish paint...went back to the house 20 years later...never repainted in 20 years...trim still looked good...no cracks in the joints or the caulking...I was amazed
You could have used that 'shadow line' from the soffit for that angle tool too...also caught the 'baccer' rod comment...lol...get one of those expansion joint guys to do those joints like they do on a commercial building...they got the good stuff...looking good bro...Nobody will be leaning on that siding in the sun during the summer...Cant wait to see the gray
Kind of surprised you didn't put the same rain screen material behind the smartside like you did on the roof.
Me too, though he cited condensation as the reason to do it on the roof (metal), with wood you don’t have to worry about that so it’s fine - though I know Risinger always preaches rain screen!
Weatherlogic is an approved drainage plane and with the two together I get 50
Year warranty on siding and sheathing.
Probably because the sheathing behind the siding is water resistant materials
@@RW-to2fy I mean, yeah, but if there is a concern about water sitting on the painted horizontal trim you'd think there would be the same or more concern for the unpainted rear of the siding that has an even harder time drying. Maybe I've just been watching too many of Risinger's videos.
Diresta!!
Amazing work as always guys. 👍👍🏴🏴
Looks great!
THANK YOU. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
Looks amazing
looks amazing ...i wonder what it would look like if you did it all in that stone....?
"If it looks straight, it is straight" Jimmy DiResta
Hi that’s vinyle looks very clean
Looking great!!!
like Risinger says. its not about keeping water out, its about letting it out.
*Video Summary: Installing Smart Side Siding*
* *Project:* Installing black board and batten Smart Side siding on a large building with multiple wings. (0:00)
* *Goal:* Complete the black siding on the north wing of the building in this video. (12:12)
* *Key Details:*
* Smart Side siding is 16 feet long and requires breaks at wall plate lines for movement in traditional stick framing. Since this is a post frame/balloon frame, full length pieces can be used. (14:44)
* The siding is installed over weather logic for drainage. (27:26)
* A 3/8" spacer is used between the siding boards and above flashing. (5:48, 17:28)
* Pre-assembled Smart Side trim is used for windows and doors with butt joints instead of mitered corners due to the movement of the siding material. (28:56)
* Special head flashing is installed above windows and doors to protect the horizontal trim from moisture damage. (27:31, 41:56)
* A belly band board is installed at the top of the lower section of siding to break up the wall and allow for proper flashing. (15:34)
* LP Smart Side shakes are used for the gable ends. (43:48)
* *Next Steps:* The next video will cover installing the Cory gray siding on the remaining sections of the building. (47:59)
*Video-Zusammenfassung (in Deutsch): Installation von Smart Side Verkleidung*
* *Projekt:* Installation von schwarzer Smart Side Verkleidung in Stülpschalungsoptik an einem großen Gebäude mit mehreren Flügeln. (0:00)
* *Ziel:* In diesem Video die schwarze Verkleidung des Nordflügels des Gebäudes fertigstellen. (12:12)
* *Wichtige Details:*
* Smart Side Verkleidung ist 16 Fuß lang und erfordert Brüche an den Wandplattenlinien, um Bewegungen in traditionellen Ständerbauten zu ermöglichen. Da es sich um einen Pfostenbau/Balloon-Frame handelt, können durchgehende Stücke verwendet werden. (14:44)
* Die Verkleidung wird über Weather Logic zur Entwässerung installiert. (27:26)
* Zwischen den Verkleidungsplatten und über der Blechverwahrung wird ein Abstandhalter von 3/8" verwendet. (5:48, 17:28)
* Für Fenster und Türen werden vormontierte Smart Side Leisten mit stumpfen Stößen anstelle von Gehrungsecken verwendet, da die Verkleidungselemente arbeiten. (28:56)
* Über Fenstern und Türen wird eine spezielle Blechverwahrung installiert, um die horizontale Leiste vor Feuchtigkeitsschäden zu schützen. (27:31, 41:56)
* Am oberen Ende des unteren Verkleidungsabschnitts wird eine Bauchbinde angebracht, um die Wand aufzulockern und eine ordnungsgemäße *Blechverwahrung* zu ermöglichen. (15:34)
* Für die Giebelenden werden LP Smart Side Schindeln verwendet. (43:48)
* *Nächste Schritte:* Im nächsten Video wird die Installation der Cory-Grau-Verkleidung an den restlichen Gebäudeteilen behandelt. (47:59)
i used gemini 1.5 pro (2024-05-16)
Great job as always
Wow c'est juste trop beau vous pouvez être fiers de vous bravo.🤩👏👍
The immortal words from Jimmy Diresta, "If it looks straight, it is straight."
Kyle, this look is sick man 👍🙌
The boards are called and measured in improper fractions. That's why you get a 4/4 and 5/4 and others.
Here is an example. 5/4 in a proper fraction form is 1 1/4, Which is the thickness a board is cut.
They only measure the cut, not the planing they do afterwards. For example, for a 5/4 board, the lumber mill cuts it to 1 1/4 which is the proper fraction form of 5/4, and then they remove another quarter of width, planing it smooth.
Hopefully this helps someone to understand it better.
You guys are in long pants, long shirts, then jackets, then shorts and t-shirts. Glad we are not the only ones with Sybil for weather...
Looking great.
Very nice siding
That’s what I get for watching 2 days late. Everyone already put Jimmy in for the quote.
I need a hoodie like the one you are wearing with the RR logo on the back
Looks Sweet
You know your going to hv massive request for that building ? I call it the “ The complexity of Darkness” !
Looks dope brother.
That will be one hot house in the summer with all that black!
So is really is good enough for the girls you run with, glad for the confirmation 😅
I like the paid promotions of Paslode siding nailer, then switch to the pneumatic nailer when it counts.
lol...you have no clue... we shoot 2.5" nails on trims especially the 5/4 trims and the paslode is max 2". also it's not paid promotion or I would have said so in the video description
Oh ok, makes more sense. But wow not paid by Paslode, you get all boned up over Paslode, thought it must be a paid promotion some how. Keep inhaling that Paslode gas though, it will make your asbergers better, my guy.
You need a white marker pen so that you can see the line on the black siding. I believe that Milwuakee has one that is an Inkzall that comes in both white or yellow to mark on dark materials.
Re seeing your pencil marks on the black siding, check out white or yellow leads for your Pica-Dry pencil. They're a little more brittle than the regular graphite ones, but with a lighter touch, they work fine, and can be easily seen on dark material. They also have a red lead, but I've never found a use case where white or yellow (or graphite) wasn't a better choice.
Curious to see how you finished the outside corners of the garage door. You showed the top trim but didn’t show how you finished the sides. Wondering if you used an lp corner or just butted them together?
Looking awesome
The lift still had reach, he just wanted Greg to hold him. 😂
