He's got the right truck that's for sure
Cant you two just get along😅 and mic Greg up so we can hear the great banter and Gregs superior ideas easier.
I agree on the mic for Greg.
😂👍 couldn’t agree more. They should take turns leading.
Yes, please get Greg a mic!
Greg really is a mastermind. He doesn't over complicate things as much as the boss does.
One of the unappreciated traits of a good supervisor is to be able to recognize good suggestions and the knowledge to say no to those that aren’t.
Love it when you guys nitpick on eachother 😉 ... just means you know what you are doing, and dont need to think that much about it. 😎
Thx again for bringing us along.
I realize you don't do the concrete work, but if you get a chance to do video on concrete stem wall prep, form, rebar, & pouring that would be a great addition for those of us trying to figure out all the steps.
remember he has been with you building for years now. you have built his mind to think the same way you do.
minny you.
love your show.
Great job as always guys. 👍👍🏴🏴
I love watching you work. The way you and Greg are bickering at 11:43 it sure seems like you're brothers. It's clear, though, that even though you're the boss, you guys are friends. It makes it a joy to watch you two work together.
I can always respect a business owner who's been going as long as you Kyle and doesn't stop working in the trade. I wish I can achieve something like this in the future I have no plans to stop working. Best of luck in the future Kyle God bless you Sr.
Thanks Kyle & Greg. 😁👍🏼
Thanks for the video. I'm used to working in ten thousandths of an inch. It's refreshing to see the same level of precision when working on the other side of the decimal point!!!
The 10" bit had me rolling!
I live on Stony Point. Drove by a couple days ago. Looks amazing!!
Many years ago when I worked in a Morgan door shop and putting together interior doors, every time you walk about the build table, always do something to the project. No wasteful steps.
I swear you guys have a brotherly relationship. Y'all remind me of me and my younger brother
They did a really nice job on that concrete!
The new 2.0 shop is exciting and well deserved. Suggestion, make the entrance to and the office door and bathroom-toilet ADA compatible. Parents get older.
these guys are right in your backyard. Very short commute! BTW, just saw your listing on Zillow. Beautifully done! No way anyone would think this home is over 100 years old. Good luck! Hope it sells soon!
Wow! Just found it, too. Figured out that earlier this summer, driving from Ohio to Minnesota, I drove through Amboy, just a couple miles west of the property!
Greg is a good sport!
DAMNN!!!! that is square AWESOME layout skills!!! I have found that fiberglass tapes stretch way more that metal! Yea a fiberglass tape may be good for property lines but when you are building something a 1/8 of an inch off multiplies it's self and it could turn into an inch of in 20 feet if you don't watch it
Man, you guys are hilarious with all the back and forth bickering.....Just like my brother and I. The 10" forearm measuring method though. Priceless.
I agree with some of these other guys, Greg needs to be mic-ed up.
Hey Kyle I know it’s not part of anything you do but I was wondering is there any way you could cover how they make the concrete footers for your builds? I can’t find anything on RUclips that has awesome looking footers like the builds you start with. I know you said they are normally 8 inches wide, are they wider at the bottom and how deep do they normally pour them? Thanks love the work!
this gotta be one of the funniest builds you guys did. Love the content broz keep um coming!
I keep reading give Greg a mic. I love that idea.
3/16” on a 80’ wall….those are some next level concrete guys you’ve got there.
Wow...that's amazing.
Have you heard of using the SET-3G™ High-Strength Epoxy Adhesive with the Titen HD® Heavy-Duty Screw Anchor?
Beatiful vídeo .
Gregg measures in handbreadths lol great job guys
Your builds are fun and very well done. Thanks for sharing them with us! Is there room for a collaboration with a master electrician?
"Lasers don't bend through space and time... well I think they do" - spot on. They DO bend in space and time because of Earth's gravity. The bend is so tiny, however, it's practically unmeasurable with today's instruments, and, since the whole geometry of space itself is bent (yes space actually does have geometry, weird stuff), everything in space bends with it, including the concrete foundation. (And this is not about the curvature of Earth's surface, that's another issue.)
Im a magician and use sharpies like theyre going out of fashion.. I would LOVE an RR custom :D
I wondered what was going in where the old IBP hog buying location. Now we know. Look forward to the build.
You guys are amazing
I checked their website. I’m going to pick up some manure spreader apron chains lol
I didn't realize this was RR was improving my view as i come into Dixon, until I drove by today and saw Greg slaving away while Kyle was talking to his camera.
Who knew there were so many different farm chain options.
I’ve personally done takeoffs and priced both for conventional stock 2x6 framing with trusses on 24 inch centres a conventional build with labour and materials compared to what you are building. I watched all the extra labour and materials you use and there’s a lot of extra cost in building what your building.
I can build what your building with the same results and detail faster and saving the customer money.
Some of your builds require so much material in your roof system and to much labour.
You might convince some of your followers but the numbers and materials don’t lie
As you know steel expands and contracts so surveyors have a chart for temperature and what the steel tape will change with the temperature. That’s how they stay so accurate with long distance measurements.
Can you build a post frame building with a hip roof, or do they have to be gabled? I'm learning a lot from your videos, thank you!
Love your videos brother!
Good day from Michigan. Can you please make these videos longer? Just when they get rolling along there are over. Question: when you cut these into L's, do you prime the cut ends?
I wasn't going to watch this entire video yet here I am. Watched it.
Kyle, you talk about thermal bridging as a consideration while building. How do you combat that with the concrete footer you have, and (I'm assuming) the concrete floor you're pouring eventually?
I’ve always wondered why you don’t mark the first post at 7 10 1/2 ,then put the tape on 8’ on that mark then you don’t get confused on the remaining numbers.
Turns into the Building Comedy Channel with Kyle and Greg by now...loved the discussion of the 10" equivalent...glad that Greg didn't pull his pants for comparison...
🤣🤣🤣
As been said already, that foundation is a dream to work with, that building will be nice!
Thx for showing!
👍👍👍
Greg was right. You dont want to hook the corner. Hook your chaulk line.
Nah..not time to retire. Time to expand to a second crew. Greg can handle a build with an "apprentice" which you checking in from time to time. You take on a Greg2 and train him right for a while until he can handle a second and run his own crew. Then you get to drive around in an upscale 1 Ton pickup fifth wheeler with all the bells a whistles and be DA BIG Boss. A very loud train for on your rig would be cool too 😉
Haha, not knocking him, but I can’t imagine Kyle ever being able to handle that.
All of that wonderful talk about measuring based on your forearm reminded me of a joke from the Falkland Islands war. Three British commandos are back in England and are told they will be given a combat bonus for their service, but how MUCH will be based on them choosing any two points on their body and that many pounds sterling per inch. The first guy, a private from London, says "Tip of me left hand to tip of me right hand arms outstretched, Sir!" they measure and pay him. The Corporal says "Tip of me nose to the tip of me toes, sir!" and they likewise measure and pay him. The tough battle-hardened Cockney sargeant major snarls, "Tip of me pr*ck to me ba*ls, sir!" The officer is skeptical, but goes to measure and is stymied, "My God man, where ARE your ba*ls?!?" The sarge snarls, "Goose Green, the Falklands sir!" (Smile)
I must complement Greg on his brush technique, 16.30. Effective, stylish and minimal effort 😂
At 4:40, you talk about girts flush with concrete wall. What do you do when it is an ICF 8” thick foundation wall with 2.5” thick foam ICF wall on each side of concrete wall? I am currently considering setting the 2x6 columns 0.5” from concrete edge and sheath with 1.5” thick panel (1” foam attached to 0.5” OSB) so I can get to being flush with the ICF foam exterior wall (0.5” concrete offset + 2.5” ICF = 1.5” girt + 1.5” OSB panel). Am I safe to set columns only 0.5” from edge of concrete wall? Thx
Been a carpenter for 21 years. In my experience people lose their mind when you do anything that isn’t the way they do it. Especially the commenter’s on YT 😂
Nice vid! Let’s put a mic on Greg so we can hear him too ;)
Can you forward any information on the brackets and fasteners that you're using and where to get? T Y in advance
is it possible to do the pad and the wall at the same time? bringing out the concrete guys multiple times seems to be wasteful
Great job site.
The 2 best post frame builders in the buisness kyle and greg aka " captain chicken legs " LOL
Just a heads up. Your forearm and your foot should be the same length. So if you know your shoe size you know the length of your forearm from wrist to ditch of the elbow.. if he wears a 10.5 then the sd bit should be about the same length as his forearm.
I see you’re well versed in polish metrology
do you trust those bolt in brackets any less than the wet set??
Hello from Ohio!
As en ex surveyor myself would it not be cheaper and less chance of mistakes (inches are madness😂) to get a surveyor in and get him to stake out all the brackets?
Me, runs instantly to my tape measure. My left forearm is exactly 10”.
Nice worksite…
I said it before and I'll say it again, you should give Greg a microphone so we can hear his comments and his side of the story!!
Put a mic on Greg so we get a complete conversation. 😀
Mic up Greg!!!
Hey Greg have you ever used the Hilti hammerdrill with dust collection on it?
Greg is my Fav. Cause he brings donuts. That ain’t happening with Kyle…LOL
I’m sure it’s been covered to death but if you’re starting with a grade beam why not just go with conventional stud wall construction?
Get poor Greg a mic so we can hear him 😅
Greg needs a mic!!
17:35 That makes sense to me 😀
You really need to get a mic on Greg!
I thought for sure Greg was gonna say "I don't mind the verbal abuse, it's the beatings..." lol
You know... If one of you had a ruler tattooed on the inside of your forearm, arguments like that could be avoided. 😁
If you need to measure 10 inches, we men have this "secret ruler", you know?!? It is ALWAYS 10 inches long! It basically defines 10 inches, so you can never be wrong!
The only downside: It's not really consistent...
Dumb question for anyone who knows... Why pour the concrete wall and then wait for a significant amount of the construction to get done before pouring the slab?
Guess ask this question before don't think I got an answer. Is that a wall on a footer or just a grade beam.??
Any chanc you guys can add what materials cost the consumer overall in your videos???? Understood labor is a big part of the overall cost but obviously your teaching people to build their own/DIY.
Ok. You kids get along like an old married couple.
Fun fact wrist to elbow is your shoe size
What chalk line does he use?
How come Greg doesn't have a mic?
I bet if you asked Midwest to make you corner brackets, they def would.
(they do make a corner-only bracket. SW60 and SW80)
I always blow my holes out to get all that dust out 👀
I agree that Mike needs to be miked.
Подскажи пожалуйста название поясной сумки для инструментов. Спасибо.
Are those Keen Sparta work shoes??
Greg was comparing and thinking about another part of his body that's ten inches.
You gotta trim the arm hair too, adds length. It’s called the ‘optical inch’ 😂
Dam Gregg u got some small feet lol 😂
When you were framing y was it 8’ 10 1/2”
Y wouldn’t your poles be at the exact 8’ and only your end ones be different
You need to Mike Greg
Can greg have a mic
Forearm = shoe/foot size
#gottamicupGreg
Kyle's way or the highway
How much does one of those brackets cost?
Kyle is going to do a cost breakdown when he builds his new shop.
(about $70ish)
wheres the dirt work, pier, concrete work video???
it looked like 11 1/4 inches
Definitely need to mic up co worker,
👍
nice work cowboys🙏🌴👙🥂🍾
