It’s not trespassing … you weren’t walking on the tracks and the station was open … the engineer is such a angry person that he can’t even think of a logical reason to justify kicking you out
Exactly if I was at that station and heard him on the radio with the train dispatcher I was just leave and never come back. He is an idiot and the fans are probably black and he's doing it because he's a racist, that might be the cause. He might be just an angry person.
I’m assuming that Carlsbad Village is probably a spot for “ticketed passengers only” as a reason to prevent the homeless, but it does also include railfanning.
Railfans were more than a regular thing when I worked last year up to June 26th, as a Brakeman for that of Adirondack Railroad, and probably will be as well for if I get hired on at Northern Plains Railroad after my interview with them tomorrow. I personally enjoy interacting with them on the job, just as much as I do here on RUclips. As many have probably already stated so far, just as long as you all aren't on company property or near the equipment, unauthorized, have at it.
So.... 3 or 4 juveniles with cameras standing on a platform rail-fanning - quietly mind you - are "trespassing" and "giving blowback." Nothing said about the adults behind them running across the track trying to beat the oncoming train. Seems to me the adults were the trespassers and the juveniles did nothing wrong.

I’m gonna play devil’s advocate here. I worked at North County for a while. We had problems with railfans talking or making comments on the radio, messing around on or near infrastructure, trespassing on the ROW to get different angles, and being a general nuisance on platforms (being loud, acting like fools/making crude gestures when trains passed, making the public uncomfortable by having recording equipment set up while they’re just trying to go about their business, etc). CBV was a hotspot for that sort of behavior. Technically, if you aren’t a ticketed passenger or are loitering on the platform for a long period of time, you are trespassing. You admitted in the comments one of your friends flipped the engineer off, which is the sort of behavior that contributed to railfans being seen as a nuisance. Also, that drone footage, while cool, was shot waaay too close to the trains and infrastructure. If I was out there working and saw that, I’d be uncomfortable. I wouldn’t have cared enough to say anything, but there are guys working there that do and probably would’ve yelled at you or called you in. That said, at the end of the day, foamer kids being dumb was pretty low on my list of shit that bothered me. Especially at CBV. That place is a graveyard.
I bet the engineer thought that the "trespassers" were the people using the pedestrian crossing in front of the train? Otherwise...there's no reason to call it in. Did y'all get chased out?
