Your lighting is great, camera angles great, instructions clear and not over-stated, and yay for fast forwarding your repetitious sewing tasks! It’s no wonder your channel is growing so quickly. And of course, the flower in the middle is a great starting block.
Hi Joan! Thank you so much! Your thoughtful comment and encouragement is so sweet! I do try, so I'm glad that my hard work doesn't go unnoticed. I loved the flower, too! ;-) Thanks for watching and commenting! I'll see you on Wednesday!
Loved your pop of flower scrappy block. This is the first time I have seen your video. I am expecting company for Easter so my plans are to clean house and cook, but now I am too excited about making scrappy blocks! Therefore, think I will turn on my machine and make blocks. I will clean tomorrow!!! Maybe. 😂 Love your video, thanks for sharing.
Hi Dorothy! You know what they say - "Housework can wait, sewing can't." Oh wait, maybe they don't say that, but they should! LOL!!! I have to step away from the sewing machine today and get some things done too. Don't you just hate it when life gets in the way of sewing? ha ha! I'm glad you found me (I'm a new RUclipsr) and I appreciate you watching and commenting. Happy Easter!
Loved your video and I love how you used the flower in the middle and used compatible fabrics of colors from the flower. Just found your channel and I am so happy I did.
Well hello and welcome, Lorraine! I’m SO glad that you found my channel! I’ve been doing this for about four months now. On Wednesdays, I post a midweek video and you never know what that’s going to be. Then, on Sundays, I post a tutorial. Here and there, I have been known to pop in with a chat or a live stream, here and there. I look forward to getting to know you better and I hope you have a great day. Happy sewing! If you’d like to, there is a Facebook group called Marie’s Scrappy Creations and people post their scrappy items there. It’s a great group, if you would like to join us.
@@MariesScrappyCreations Thank you Marie for the nice welcome. I have subscribed to your Facebook group and anxious to see all of the scrappy items everyone have made.

@@MariesScrappyCreations yes I’m a new subscriber, I just ordered the strips of material from Etsy, I have some material not a whole lot of variety so this will help. @@nancystrebel3339 Well welcome, welcome! I bet you will love the fabric you bought from Kimberly over at MyFabricAddiction1. Flower is word of the day. I love this video because you are so straightforward. Your instructions are clear without a lot of chatter and it's so easy to see the way you sew. I'm very glad I found this video. I've watched a lot but you are the best! Thank you so much and I am definitely following you for quilting techniques. I am a lady 78 yrs of age, a total beginner in quilting and I love this style. Thank you!
Hi Sharon! Thank you so much for such a sweet comment, so good to know I was helpful! I did want to say though, that I'm not exclusively a quilting channel. I just started this channel about 6 months ago and after years of making quilts, I was left with a LOT of scraps. So I started this channel in hopes of using my scrap in as many different projects as i could. I do here and there make quilt related videos and right now we are doing a Quilt Along ( a beginner friendly Sampler quilt). I make a lot of household item like potholders, pillows, and plus I make tote bags, zippered bags, etc. I'm glad you subscribed, but I did want to explain what my channel is all about - Welcome Sharon!!!
That’s so sweet, Connie! I can’t remember how many videos I have out right now, but I’ve been doing them for just about two months or so (I think, lol). Welcome!!
Marie, I just found your channel and have been binge watching while I make Christmas stockings for my daughter and her family. Am posting my comment on an older post but loving what I am seeing so far. I love scrappy and you do an awesome job of sharing your talent. I am in sunny Florida where we have had a few cool nights in the 50s. We consider that jacket weather so I can't imagine Maine weather. Marie is a family name for us so love your name. Will be looking forward to more of your posts. Thank you so much for sharing.
Welcome to my channel! Making Christmas talking sounds very fun! I made up a stack of them 3 or 4 years ago. I put fur at the top of some of them. Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment!
We could! That's similar to what we do in our scrap quilt swap group. Each month that we swap Crazy blocks,, most of us will do a theme... such as in February we would sew a Valentine day related one, November might be turkey related, etc. Maybe we should start one here on my group/channel in January!
Awww, how sweet - thank you for your comment, Carla! I was just thinking that when I filned this particular video, I was still kind of nervous about explaining things. I'm glad you enjoy my content and I appreciate your taking the time to comment !
Hello! I hope you were able to have a wee bit of fun today! I was trying to sew, chatting with my daughter and playing with my granddaughter today. I now glad to be sitting and watching your video. Thank you for posting this and your time.
Hi Brenda! Thanks, I did have fun... I finished a baby quilt that had taken quite a bit more time than I had anticipated. I used a ruffle edge and never having done it before, I kept hesitating so it ended up taking longer than it should have, lol. Sounds like you had a great day! Grandchildren are the best,, aren't they? I'm so glad you stopped by to watch and comment. I hope you have a great week and get to have a lot of sewing time, too! Take care!
I love the Flower in the middle and liked your idea of doing all the middles the same. I really like your block and material choices. So colorful. My first time watching your channel. I will be back.
I'm still learning about quilting just from watching videos like yours. I can't wait to get started, once settled in my new home! I like your "flower" theme... and look forward to watching more of your videos!
That’s wonderful! I do make quilt block videos, but most of my “creations” are using my leftovers from having made quilts for years, sewn into projects like bags, potholders, etc. I did do a quilt along, which you can find under my playlists, where I have 12 more blocks. I hope you have a great rest of your week, happy sewing!
I really like this flower block. After watching your videos I'm not as intimated about just sewing pieces together and making something beautiful. Thank you
Hello Rebecca! Yes, I love making any kind of scrap blocks because I get to use up all my odds and ends of partially used spools and bobbins full of whatever color thread there is in my box. Something about using those up is so satisfying to me. Thank you for dropping by and commenting!
Hi Brenda! I hope to do it soon. I’m only trying to space things out, so I’m not doing all one type of project. So, I vary between bags, blocks, etc. I also try to vary the degree of difficulty, too. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Hey there Lisa Marie! I hope you're having a great day. I'm sewing/working away on baby items. I can't give away too much, as my daughter has already watched all videos up to this point and I can't give any more surprises away, lol. We'll catch up soon. Thanks so much for always watching and commenting! Take care!
Yes Beanze, in fact I plan to do one in the not too distant future. You’re not the first person to ask me that, so it’s definitely on the horizon. Take care!
I loved watching your video today. I make a lot of crazy quilts. Many years ago my first one was all hand sewn-I must have ben "crazy". I use to hand quilt the blocks with crochet cotton and herringbone stitch. Now I machine stitch with different colours and zig zag. Love the flower theme .
Hello Maxine! Oh I just love to hear about crazy quilts! If you’re on Facebook, please feel free to join our Facebook group, it’s called “Marie’s Scrappy Creations.” It’s a fairly new group, but we have a great group of people going already. People share pictures of their projects and it’s so good to see everyone and what everyone is working on. Thank you so much for watching, commenting and joining us!
Hello Miki! I hope you're having a great weekend. I agree 100% with you - they're my favorite, too! I hope the ladies in the group didn't mind me showing off my blocks, lol. My great grandmother used to make scrap quilts out of blocks really similar to the crazy blocks, so from some of my earliest memories, they've been a part of my life. Thanks for stopping by, watching and commenting. Enjoy the rest of your weekend and take care! :-)
I love this & how you used the flower as a center point. I always have a hard time cutting up a pretty print. This is a cool way of displaying it and then creating something fun around it. Thank you for making this look easy.
This is my first time watching your videos. I have been quilting for 15 years but never made a crazy quilt. I love flower fabric so you have given me a great way to use my scraps!
Good morning Donna! Thank you so much for watching and stopping by to comment, it’s much appreciated. I love scrap quilts, but especially crazy blocks. I’m glad that you found my video helpful and I hope to see you again soon.
I love the flower in the center. I only do hand quilting so I need to figure out how to do this and still be able to trim my block without having it fall apart. I love scrappy quilts and all the colors and patterns of the fabric. Yours is just beautiful. Thanks for showing how you make yours.
Hello Cindy! Thanks so much! I started out sewing every part of my quilts by hand, so I've definitely been where you are. I didn't make this type of block, though. I would think that if you were to use the tiniest stitches you can make it would help when you cut across the seam. Best of luck and thanks so much for watching and commenting!
I love the flower, esp the 5-sided center piece of scrap for the starter piece Marie. I have found that just using an odd shape center piece of scrap using a precut 6.5" paper square motivated me more to make my crazy crumb blocks, esp when I had some crazy strip starters already made up. Now I need to make some more starters, as I've already completed 9 blocks & I need several more blocks, possibly 12 or 18.
Hi there! Thanks, I thought it "popped" enough to make it a focal point. I loved that piece of fabric that I took it from, too. I really need to use more bright colors. Getting started for me is a big thing. Once I know what I'm starting with, I can really get right in there, but I get too choosy sometimes when it comes to my centers. I will catch up on chat soon, I promise. I have that app on my phone and the rest is on my computer, lol. Today, I'm hip deep in baby projects because I have a lot to do before I can put them in the mail and they need to go into the mail soon. Enjoy the rest of your weekend... or is it over over there by now? I get confused with all the time zones. Ok, I'm off to sew. Take care and I'll chat soon! Thanks for dropping by, watching and commenting!
Omg I just think that's the coolest thing ever! I am not at all new to sewing but have never quilted. I just recently started a new stash for quilts I want to make but I could totally use all the scraps from dresses I've made to make quilts doe my kids!!! Thank you for this wonderful tutorial!
Hello and thank you so much for your comment! This is one of my favorite blocks to make and I love to color-coordinate my scraps while making it. I also love choosing a focal point for the center of each block. It really can make such a difference in the outcome. I hope you have fun giving it a try - I bet you'll love sewing some!
Thank you Joan, I'm glad that you liked it. This has been a very popular video and I love making crazy blocks. They're probably one of my 2 top favorite blocks ever. Thank you so much for watching and dropping by to comment.
A new subscriber from the UK. I really loved watching this crazy block coming together as I’m new to quilting. The focal flower in the centre is a great idea. I’m definitely going to try one of these. Thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos.
This is the first time I watched your crazy quilt tutorial using the FLOWER center and I loved it. I am a quilter with tons of scraps. I'm making 28x28 mini quilts for my local animal shelter's Cat Cages. which have wire bottoms. They were using towels and I knew I could improve on that and use up all my scraps. They love them. I'm certainly going to try your crazy quilts, too. Thank You.
Hi Julie! Aww, that’s so sweet of you and I’m sure they appreciate it. Not only the shelter, but the little kitties. About a year and a half ago, I had a whole bunch of fleece fabric given to me and I made stacks of square cage liners for one of the local pet rescue centers. I also bought a bag of catnip and made a bunch of toys to donate. I know they always need the bedding, and what a great use of your scraps. Even though they can’t talk, I’m sure that the little kitties love all those colors, but we definitely know they love the warmth. Thank you!
Absolutely loved that block. Yes I first used a foundation to sew on but not any more lol! I have to say I loved it before squaring up so i'm off to use up the left over strips I have from the Chick (in your last tutorial) and make an Easter 5 sided table topper. Instead of a flower I'll have bunnies or eggs for the centre. I'll post a picture in the facebook group...Thank you Marie it doesn't matter how many years we've sat at a sewing machine there's always more to find out x
Hi Jo! Hope you're having a great weekend... well, I think you're way ahead of us, but it's 9:30 am on Sunday as I write this. ;-) Isn't it funny how we learn things one way and then try something new? I still use foundation piecing sometimes, but it depends on the project. Yes, I kind of hate to cut off the edges to square them up, because I always like the bit I'm cutting, lol. But, I do know it'll get used up, as that's the fun part! It sounds like you are busy busy, with another Easter/Spring time creation - good for you! I look forward to you posting it on group when you're done, thanks for that! I love to see everything that everyone is working on. I think it sounds adorable with the bunny or eggs in the center! We do always learn, don't we? I've learned so much from others and that's the exciting part - like you say, there's always more to learn! Take care!
I've got some beautiful material with flowers. This would be a wonderful way to use some of it. I'm still learning n I think I could do these flower centered blocks thank you
Hi Rose! if you have a lot of flowered fabrics, what about if you made each block with a different flower in the center? I think that would be a beautiful idea! Thanks so much for visiting and for commenting!
Thank you so much Marie, I really really enjoyed watching you create this gorgeous and stunning crazy block with the central Flower. It’s looks like really really good fun, so I’m going to have a try at doing this. Thank you to for all your tips and tricks that you’ve shared with all of us today. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
How wonderful would it be to make a quilt with crazy quilt blocks that all framed a flower in the middle! This was the first of your videos I have watched and I am new to quilting. Ha! I just realized this video was from awhile ago. still a wonderful block!

I love vintage fabrics and using big flowers, little flowers I can't wait to finish the fall wall hanging I currently working on then I am going to give this crazy quilt block a try. I am seventy 79 (going to be in Dec 26th) 8 love the idea of just sitting and sewing scraps together and making something beautiful. I have a crumb block video that I put up last week and then I have a scrappy ladder block pattern that will be coming up in a few weeks. As long as you're not putting the same fabric or the same shade of color next to each other, anything goes... just let your creativity flow. I'm glad you're enjoying my content and I look forward to getting to know you better in the comments. Take care!
@@MariesScrappyCreations yes I’m a subscriber, I’m working on hot pads now with my crumbs It’s addicting Lol. I got the strips from Etsy p, they are great
What a beautiful crazy block and “flower” 🌹 eye candy! Thank You!!
Glad you enjoyed it!!!
Love the flower in the middle, all the colors make the flower pop out.
Hi Linda! Thanks so much, I thought so, too. I appreciate your viewing and commenting. I hope you have a great day! If you're on Facebook, we'd love to have you join us! Its all so new... the RUclips channel and the facebook group, but people are starting to post pictures of finished projects, etc and we have a great group of people already.

Love the red flower in your crazy block.
Oh thank you! Thanks for watching!
I really love your flower square. I really enjoyed your videos and just found you. I will binge watch now.
That’s so sweet, Connie! I can’t remember how many videos I have out right now, but I’ve been doing them for just about two months or so (I think, lol). Welcome!!
I would call this block “flower power”. Thanks for showing - anxious to try one for myself.
They're so fun and pretty! Have fun!
Love this and will try- I love Flowers so much!
Hi Debra! I'm glad you liked it and I hope you have fun giving it a try. Take care and happy Easter!
Marie, you are the flower in my garden....
Such a sweet comment ❤️
Beautiful quilt block!! Love the flower in the middle! Love Pioneer Women fabric❤️🌺
Thank you! Yes, her fabric is beautiful, isn’t it?
Omg we could do a sampler one each month. January, snowy scene, February hearts, March shamrocks, April rain showers ect. 😉
We could! That's similar to what we do in our scrap quilt swap group. Each month that we swap Crazy blocks,, most of us will do a theme... such as in February we would sew a Valentine day related one, November might be turkey related, etc. Maybe we should start one here on my group/channel in January!
@@MariesScrappyCreations or tutorial like you are having now.
Marie, I just love your way of just going with the moment. Your friend from New Mexico, Carla 🎶 💖 💐
Awww, how sweet - thank you for your comment, Carla! I was just thinking that when I filned this particular video, I was still kind of nervous about explaining things. I'm glad you enjoy my content and I appreciate your taking the time to comment !
Very pretty flower center.
Hi Lucila! Thanks so much!
I love the red flower in the block!
Hi Vickey! Thank you! I appreciate your stopping by and commenting. Happy Easter!
I love this block ! really like the flower "eye candy"!
Thanks, Sharon! I love lots of eye candy!
Take care!
I love the starting flower in bright red. It's been wonderufl watching.
I’m so glad you enjoyed this! Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment and play along. Happy sewing!
Love the flower center...
Thank you! 😊
I love the Flower in the middle and liked your idea of doing all the middles the same. I really like your block and material choices. So colorful. My first time watching your channel. I will be back.
I'm so happy you enjoyed the block! Welcome, welcome!!! 🥰
I love the “flower” and the colors you chose with it…awesome…
Thank you! ❤️ 🌼
Really wonderful flowers are always pretty in quilts thank you great idea
Hi Tracey! Yes, flowers are perfect in quilts. :-)
I really like this flower block. After watching your videos I'm not as intimated about just sewing pieces together and making something beautiful. Thank you
Thanks so much! I'm so glad that you find my videos helpful! You're welcome ;-) Thanks for your comment!
Love the idea of using up all your leftover threads.
Hello Rebecca! Yes, I love making any kind of scrap blocks because I get to use up all my odds and ends of partially used spools and bobbins full of whatever color thread there is in my box. Something about using those up is so satisfying to me. Thank you for dropping by and commenting!
Love crazy blocks. Can't wait for your crumb blocks video!!! Keep going!!!!
Hi Brenda! I hope to do it soon. I’m only trying to space things out, so I’m not doing all one type of project. So, I vary between bags, blocks, etc. I also try to vary the degree of difficulty, too. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Beautiful Crazy Block! Love the flower!
Thank you!
Excellent tutorial!! Thank you. I have been given 6 bags of Disney Scraps. Can't wait to get started.
Ooooh, Disney scraps... that's going to be adorable!!!!!
What a lovely crazy scrap block you made!!! Love the flower in the center as your focal point! Keep on 🧵 sewing!!!
Take care!
I love the colors especially the flower center.
Hi Diane! Thanks so much! Welcome and thanks for watching and commenting!
Marie.. would you be able to do a video on how u store your scraps..
Yes Beanze, in fact I plan to do one in the not too distant future. You’re not the first person to ask me that, so it’s definitely on the horizon. Take care!
I enjoyed video for using scraps with the flower as the center piece. Thank you.
Thelma
You are very welcome, Thelma! Thank you so much for watching, and taking the time to comment to me, it means a lot. Take care!
I love , your explanation is so clear.... thanks
Thank you, Rosa! I'm glad you found it helpful!
This is my absolute favorite 😍 block to make!
Love your block the word of the creative word is flower.
Thank you so much! I’m so glad that you like the block and the “flower” 😉😘
What a delightful technique. Your flower was very inspiring.
Thank you, Pilar! I appreciate you watching and commenting! I hope to see you again soon!
So pretty💖 I love the flower in the center. I love scrap quilting💖💕😊
Hi Linda! Thank you! I love it, too! Happy Easter!
I love this & how you used the flower as a center point. I always have a hard time cutting up a pretty print. This is a cool way of displaying it and then creating something fun around it. Thank you for making this look easy.
Thank you! 🌼 🌸 I know exactly what you mean about not wanting to cut into the pretty fabrics!
@@MariesScrappyCreations It's late Sunday, not quite midnight, so almost Monday morning lol
Beautiful flower scrappy block!!
Thank you Joan, I'm glad that you liked it. This has been a very popular video and I love making crazy blocks. They're probably one of my 2 top favorite blocks ever. Thank you so much for watching and dropping by to comment.
Love how you use a flower to center a block ...so pretty!
Hi Shari! Thanks so much for playing, watching and commenting! I love the spelling of your name! Happy Easter!
A new subscriber from the UK. I really loved watching this crazy block coming together as I’m new to quilting. The focal flower in the centre is a great idea. I’m definitely going to try one of these. Thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos.
Thanks for subbing! I hope you give this fun block a go… they’re great fun!
Thank you!
I like watching you sew.
Awww, that’s so sweet. Thanks! I love making crazy blocks!
Loved the flower block, really pretty.
Take care!
We're way ahead 3pm in the afternoon here xx
You're very welcome Mags and thank you for all your wonderful comments! I'm so glad you liked this crazy block.
How wonderful would it be to make a quilt with crazy quilt blocks that all framed a flower in the middle! This was the first of your videos I have watched and I am new to quilting. Ha! I just realized this video was from awhile ago. still a wonderful block!

If you want to email me at mariesscrappycreations@yahoo.com and tell me your Facebook name, etc., I can send you an invite to the Facebook group. Because unfortunately I was getting way too many members all at once, so I shut off the ability of people just coming in without an invite.
What a wonderful idea for those flower scraps... love the process.. Thank you!
Hi Llyn! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! This one has been a favorite and has more views than any of my other videos. I have a crumb block video that I put up last week and then I have a scrappy ladder block pattern that will be coming up in a few weeks. I showed it on one of my Wednesday videos and people are waiting on that one. It's one of my favorite blocks of all times. Hope to see you on Sunday!

Love the idea of using a flower as the center, give you so many color options to choose from.
Hi Liz! Yes, indeed. Most of the time I just use whatever color is next in the scrap bucket, but I think sometimes it’s fun to coordinate the colors and the block with whatever I’ve used in the center. Thank you for commenting and watching!
Today I came across your program & was so happy you explained n a easy way how to make a crazy block. I now subscribed so u can show me different ways to make blocks
