Update: Sadly, C-FZVM and the pilot was lost during logging operations in British Columbia Canada on October 4th, 2021
C-FZVM a Kaman K-MAX K1200 operated by Black Tusk Helicopter Inc is used to fight the many wildfires the Province of British Columbia in Canada is experiencing in this unprecedented hot summer of 2021. The K-MAX helicopter has a unique design, with its intermeshing rotor system and only one seat, it makes the helicopter unusually light and allows it to lift about twice the weight a Bell 214 could lift and is a perfect fit for aerial firefighting.

They sound so nice, the overlapping and alternating blade sound is so unique.
The K-Max is one of the coolest helicopter's ever. But the view behind it was breath taking!
Never seen another helicopter resemble a Dragonfly more than 3:25 to the end. What a cool machine!
Haha, yes
Fantastic capture! May I feature this engine start up in one of my next episodes? Of course with a link back to your original video. All the best to you and happy 2024! 🎉
Thank you. Great machine and nice livery.
Many thanks!
I saw a prototype intermeshing blade helicopter crash in the early 1950's in Moorestown NJ killing one of the two test pilots who bailed out too low. The synchronizing gear failed and the blades contacted. I believe it was a Kaman HOK-1.
Such a cool machine, I want to get footage of one of these things so badly. Great catch!
It will eventually make it to Nelson, hopefully 😁
Quite frightening to watch ! Whole lotta shakin' goin' on .!
What a nice machine!
I think so too!
Excellent catch!!
Thank you very much!
very cool machine... nice catch!!
It sure is!
Mean machine!
Nice video!
Thanks!
Sensacional.
interesting how it wobbles a lot in 0:28
Me encanta este Helicóptero.
👍
This one was the one that crashed a few months ago
Dune Universe
👍
What a funny looking machine
Sure is
❤
Красивое инженерное решение.
More cool than pretty :)
👍
Q: if a rotor fails or is failing is their a way to jettison it off the copter? Anyone know?
👍👍👍👏👏👏
Thanks
How long does it take for the rotors to get up to speed for takeoff?
This bird crashed in Killam Bay, BC and unfortunately the pilot did not survive.
Yes, sadly it crashed with no survivors.
I was a co pilot briefly with the guy that passed away in that crash. Sad.
I was at the factory when this aircraft was being loaded up for delivery. Unfortunately it has already crashed and killed the pilot.
I was Garys co pilot briefly. Im honestly not surprised hes passed good guy but kinda scary stuff he did. But his accident was mechanical. Not pilot error. I just remember constantly getting into vortex ring state with him. Hot days coming into landings with too much enthusiasm. He’d always recover but I didn’t like it as a co pilot fresh out of school with all the book stuff fresh in my head. Getting stuck to a log with very little fuel on board was another less than ideal situation. He was very good just a little nuts lol. Still though he was a very good guy. Unfortunately i decided to stay in my current industry as the pay was way way better and i didn’t think i was gonna die due to something out of my own control. RIP Gary.
Fluid and ⛽ gasses.
Doesn't it shake too much?
No
Think if one propeller stopped or delayed in time 😳
They are both locked together by gear. It would only happen if the gears somehow jumped and separated for a split moment.
Wierd looking but extremely practical utility helicopter. The wheels are so tiny!
This “paired rotor” technology is very efficient as I understand and can lift heavy loads ; so what comes to my mind is Multiple PAIRED ROTORS say 13x PAIRS on a DRONE … would physics be good in multiple pairs…one would assume so … comments from experts..? TKS👍
구조용 헬리콥터로 발전시켜야 하는데
Е сли хоть одна винтовая шестерня накроется, то никакой ротации, сразу камнем вниз с обрубленными лопастями.
