Listening to songs about Liverpool from The Beatles is the only way I've felt a connection to Liverpool. I'm from America. But in some of their songs about the city made me feel the love they had for it. A feeling or memory. I wish I could visit one day. Just to stroll around and see the place. Talk to people and such. Not sure I'd go on one of those Beatles tours. Would rather explore alone or with some locals.

I was born in Liverpool in 1994 in the Liverpool maternity hospital I wasn't raised in the city and I only just moved back in October last year but I have to say I've never felt so at home so comfortable, happy and safe as I do in Liverpool. I lived in so many different places North Wales Ellesmere Port, St Helens and I always felt like an outcast especially being a mixed race person. Even if I don't have the accent and I wasn't raised in Liverpool I feel more like a scouser than anything else. When I told my mum I was moving to Tuebrook she was apprehensive but I was getting verbally attacked on the daily when I used to live in St Helens and ever since I've moved I haven't experienced any hostile behaviour. Really think that Liverpool is such a beautiful city with amazing, culture, diversity history and architecture and it needs to be celebrated more.
I lived in Wigan and was never interested in Liverpool until my friend from Belgium told me how much she loved the city. So I went with her when she went second trip to the city and now I love the city too.
Interesting that you thought the architecture had a clean Gotham City feel to it. Liverpool was used as a filming location for the modern batman movies. St Georges Hall is used in the new Harry Potter movie Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
Liverpool actually wasn't used in any of the modern Batman films, however it was scouted in pre production for The Dark Knight but they decided to shoot in Chicago streets instead. Liverpool is the most filmed in city in the UK outside of London though and it feels like there is always something being filmed in the city.
I was born and raised in Liverpool, I lived there for the first 21 years of my life before moving to the other side of the world to New Zealand... This video makes me both proud of where I came from but also quite homesick as I haven't been home since I moved here 8 years ago. I'm glad you guys enjoyed the cities hospitality and history. I do feel like a day isn't enough though, there are so many other things to see and do - maybe next time.

mini dwarfdude. I was born and raised in LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND. during numerous years, And one of the highlights was the onset of the Beatles in our City who we / I saw around our City and on occasion a performance at the "Cavern Club"... I knew and met the original "Beatles manager" personally, and even spent some time as an occasional resident at his home with both he and his wife. 😁🤐😊
luna i'luna I'm not..yes it probably happens but it's not a big issue..I've worked in City centre for 35 years and never seen it or any of my friends. There is theft from shops..but no worse than any comparable City.
Ngl though, it's really rare for someone to be pick pocketed in Liverpool, and when it does happen, it's never the locals who do it. We would never want to pander to the negative false stereotypes of the city and it's people, so outsiders tend to do that instead, smh
Honestly you're more likely to get jumped than be a victim to any other crime in the city center. Can't tell you the amount of times I've been drinking outside a pub & had to stop gangs of scallies going after lone targets. I totally agree that is _generally_ isn't locals who do the robbing in the city, though I have no doubt that there's plenty of smackheads who live in one of the neighboring estates.
Perhaps not pickpocketing but plenty of other crime in Liverpool. I can always remember coming back to the city after being away and noticing. as you enter the suburbs, that all of the shopfronts have steel shutters that are rolled down when the store closes. I also remember going to pick up some booze at the off licence (liquor store for non Brits). All of the goods were shelved behind a heavy glass partition and purchases had to be requested , paid for and handed over through a small glass window like the ones they have in a bank. Liverpools reputation for petty theft is well deserved and I have had first hand experience of it on several occasions.
@Dominic Ambrose I mean he is speaking the truth and all... as a local, I can honestly say love it or hate it, Liverpool has the worst kids and teenagers the city has to offer. So much violence and theft going on, I even know a few people who have been killed because of it. Living in ignorance won’t solve our problems

Since 2008 Liverpool become more and more beautiful, the city is changed completely and has many projects that contributed towards regeneration of the city. Well done Liverpool I am very proud to be a citizen in this beautiful city
1:26 "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Brigade". Never heard of that one. ;) But seriously, great video as always. My favourite album by The Beatles is Revolver, and my favourite song is A Day in the Life.
Had a tropical fish store in Little Crosby, Lancs. called Agua Hobby Ltd., just north of Liverpool for ten yrs. The people were very kind to me. I miss them. Too bad I got bored with it. You never know you have something good until you loose it.
I am on my 3rd passport and will be visiting Liverpool and London in early nov (2017) cant wait for I grew up with the beatles and my favorite all time group yes I'm old at 68 this pilgrimage will be yet another check mark on my bucket list CAN'T WAIT. you guys are cool!
I am from the Liverpool area myself, But if you come to Liverpool, You got to see Chester also. Thats full of Roman History And all the shops are Tudor Style. Really nice City. Very old cathedral too
Just a couple of historic points Vagabrothers not one slave ship or slave was ever landed in Liverpool. The slave ship owners lived here and of course that "Penny Lane" the Beatles made famous was named after 'James Penny' one of the largest slave ship owners. One other thing the only true memorial to the 'Titanic' sinking is at Liverpool's pier head and it is dedicated to the Engine Room staff, whose fate was sealed by other people when the watertight doors where dropped. It was not abandon ship and every man for themselves for them they where going down with the ship, and in spite of this they kept the generators running keeping the lights working on the ships deck until the last seconds of the ships life. Yes before you ask I am a true Scouser
Not sure where you had your history lesson but over 1.5 million slaves were traded through Liverpool's trading ships. It's first slave ship was the Liverpool Merchant. By 1795 Liverpool controlled 80% of British and 40%, of the entire European slave trade, with over 5000 voyagers. Look up the Zong massacre, a Liverpool slave ship that brought about new slaving laws.
@@kirkbysockrobber You do not understand the slave trade, You are talking through your RECTUM. Empty ships sailed to the west coast of Africa loaded slaves then taken to the west indies, ships loaded with sugar then returned to Liverpool or Bristol unloaded the cargo then returned to west Africa and the cycle started again.
@@johnconnersnr9046 I dont understand your statement for this reason what would we British do with slaves Cotton grows in America and sugar in the west indies . The trade is as follows empty ships sailed to west Africa sometimes loaded with trade goods but more often than not empty because it was faster. Slaves loaded and transported to America and the west .indies. Ships then loaded with cotton or sugar NOW BECOMING MERCHENT SHIPS, sailing to British ports such as Liverpool Bristol and the whole thing starts again. So my statement was correct NO SLAVE SHIP or slave LANDED IN LIVERPOOL
I'm 50 years old and I've lived on the outskirts of Liverpool for my whole life. I love everything about the place There are so many places to visit, There are loads of free museums and the architecture of the city is breathtaking. The shopping, nightlife and restaurant scene is also fantastic. There always seems to be a celebration or event happening on the waterfront too. It's great to see so many tourists having a great time when you meet them in the pubs. It's such a fantastic place to live and i love it!!!
About half a mile away from the liver buildings Sherlock Holmes was filmed, Captain America was also filmed, Harry Potter was filmed in the Mersey Tunnel, Fantastic Beasts was filmed outside St George's Hall and one of the fast and furious films was filmed by the town Hall. Just a couple to mention
I love Liverpool and I could easily live there. You both had a dream time there and it was fascinating to see places apart from the Beatles museum I would love to visit 👍
Love it when my home city gets spoken about in a good way. It mostly gets dissed all the time and it gets on me nerves. I have a strong scouse accent and I don't care who or how people talk about it I'm proud to be a Scouser cos of the city i live in. Thanks for this lads really appreciate it
I feel a lot of scousers on here are telling us more in the fact they are desperately trying to convince everyone they have never heard of or experienced any crime than in what they are actually saying.
@@Gambit771 No im not saying ive never seen any crime of course i have, like anywhere,,but I feel safe here,my flat s been burgled many years ago and my bag s been dipped but thats life
@@dianeharrison4975 You've just contradicted yourself. If being burgled and actually witnessing crime is 'not having any trouble in your life' then just what is?
@@dianeharrison4975 You said 'never had any trouble in your life' and that is a direct quote then said you've been burgled and had your bag dipped which I assume is pickpocketed which is the entire point of the pickpocketing comments in the comment section. I was born and raised in the Kirkdale area of Liverpool, and I'm proud of my city. I remember the city as it was back in the 50's and 60's. In those days, it was a thriving port, with ships arriving from all over the world. It's good to see that Liverpool still is thriving, with visitors from the four corners of the world, appreciating the beauty and versitility of my amazing home town.
"While my guitar gently weeps", "A day in the life" (difficult to choos one), and Abbey Road LP. I've been a Beatle fan since I was 10, when John was killed
Great Video and loved the series. I live in between Manchester and Liverpool. I think you visited Liverpool waterfront at the wrong time of the year. The waterfront comes to life in the summer with concerts, cruise ships, festivals, Pirates, tall ships etc. Liverpool waterfront can be quite an unforgiving place in the Winter and spring months because of the cold winds from the Irish sea. For me Liverpool can seem a bit rough around the edges on first visit but once you get to know the place it is a very welcoming city and there is always something new to discover even after visiting a hundred times. As you said Liverpool has very impressive architecture. You should have made the effort to visit the Anglican Cathedral as it is one of the most impressive buildings in the country (looks grubby from outside but the inside is incredible). Manchester too has great architecture but just less. Manchester has a lot more new types of buildings. Liverpool and Manchester both have very vibrant nightlife and should not be missed. I am surprised you never went to the Cavern club as this is very popular with tourists.A short bus/train ride from Liverpool city centre there is some top quality beaches in Formby. Wales is quite close too and this is on par with the lake district for natural beauty. Manchester is close to a wonderful national park (Peak district).Manchester has developed slightly quicker than Liverpool of late. Manchester has become more of a commercial centre. Manchester is setting it sites on becoming the London of the North (The Northern powerhouse). There has been a lot of investment in Manchester lately. It is now getting a big city feel. Liverpool has a small commercial offering in comparison; however, there is big investment in Seaforth docks just outside the city centre. The docks stretch for 13 miles and a big stretch of the docks are classed as world heritage status. Liverpool's old architecture is being brought back to life so next time you visit those old derelict building will be hotels and restaurants. This is good to see as 20-30 years ago the city was in decline. Manchester too is making the most of its heritage as shown on your videos.I prefer to visit Liverpool's over Manchester because of its vibrancy. I am sure there are lots of people who would chose Manchester. It is a close decision.
I love when my home gets appreciated, specially from outsiders. Nice job lads.
Liverpool YNWA I know this is a dumb question but do a lot of people still listen to The Beatles there im sure there is

Had a tropical fish store in Little Crosby, Lancs. called Agua Hobby Ltd., just north of Liverpool for ten yrs. The people were very kind to me. I miss them. Too bad I got bored with it. You never know you have something good until you loose it.

Plenty of slaves landed in Liverpool, go do some research
@@johnconnersnr9046 I dont understand your statement for this reason what would we British do with slaves Cotton grows in America and sugar in the west indies
@@johnconnersnr9046Just name one ship!!!
Great video obviously well researched.
It's Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band not brigade.
I have only visited Liverpool once briefly in 1986, must return to see the muses.
Best city in the world
I'm 50 years old and I've lived on the outskirts of Liverpool for my whole life.
Liverpool looks really nice.
Boti Bot it is really nice! ❤️
only on this video reality its deference
norbertoss ch its literally the same as the video 😂 its not like theyve edited its appearance ahah
@@Jonnyh_Buldinios it actually looks nicer in person
Alex .Stanley it does! towards the docks and liver building its stunning
Well done, guys. You clearly did some research before you went! Very good summary of the pool..
Do you like the Liverpool accent?
It's definitely unique and a hard one to imitate :)
YangSing1 I am scouser, I have an extremely strong accent, and I love it!! I am very proud to be a scouser! 👌🏻👍🏻😍😘
No. I hate it
Aimee.....you don't have an accent---the rest of the world has one.
Yes....I love it!
Didn’t know that but it isn’t surprising to hear. Such cool architecture!!! Cheers!

Liverpool doubles as NYC and Chicago a lot. A new *large* film studio complex is being built around the art deco Littlewoods building.
A nice video and liked it very much, From a Liverpool lad :-)
I'm a scouser and proud of my city. A video you guys did of Liverpool 👍👍👍
Thanks for this lads really appreciate it
That's what I think too - so now I do videos on YT showing Liverpool at its best.
Im 54 yrs old, I ve never had any trouble in my life,,i feel very safe here im proud to be a scouser
@@Gambit771 yes i know but not violence towards me,,
@@dianeharrison4975 You said 'never had any trouble in your life' and that is a direct quote then said you've been burgled and had your bag dipped which I assume is pickpocketed which is the entire point of the pickpocketing comments in the comment section.
If burglary and pick pocketing isn't considered trouble to you then what is?
Glad to see you enjoy our beautiful city! You have to come back in the summer months next time, Liverpool in the sun is the best! When you next come please feel free to contact us ✌️
Love how everyone says Liverpool looks like Gotham City
Gotham City is a crime ridden, polluted shithole.
I can see the comparison :D
@@Gambit771 Everywhere's crime ridden and polluted, at least we've got beautiful buildings and a rich history alongside
@@aimeerose2833 Well then that is worth the non-existent crime scousers are trying to fool everyone into believing doesn't exist in Liverpool.
@@Gambit771 who's saying crime doesn't exist in Liverpool? Never met a scouser who thinks Liverpool is free of crime. If you think wherever you live is crime free then you're the deluded one
Thank you so much! Finally! Someone who think Liverpool is great! Great videos! ❤️

Mersey not 'mercy'
If you want to use pronunciations online, you’ll want to change that to Mer-zee
Silly yanks

Ahh my home town, great city with great people!!
As long as you're sound you'll be fine round here :D
I went to Cream in Liverpool in the early 90’s it was an amazing night, another visit to Liverpool is long over due.
Sounds like an epic show. Cream is legendary!
vagabrothers It certainly was, it has been bulldozed now I believe. Great video guys by the way, I will certainly watch your other vlogs.
