I want to replay these games but not having an online trading functionality puts me off especially as I'm having to emulate it on my pc aswell
Agreed. I haven't gotten a traditional home console since the 2000s. Even back then I think I spent more time playing on my PC and DS than on my PlayStation consoles.

Been a PlayStation gamer for a while, but lately Sony is disappointing me with games for ps5. I'm much more excited for Switch 2 than anything on PlayStation

“I’ve never had a problem with the rail” I have, on 2 separate consoles. I thought my right joycons were breaking because they kept sliding off and after buying a new one I realized it was the rail not keeping the joycon on. This happened twice, to different consoles. Hopefully the magnets are strong enough
the idea of magnet is great but put into practice its worse then the rail system. unless they r able to to solve all the problem of using magnet. dirty stuff get attached (never put near sand) not strong doesn't hold or too strong being safety hazard. when u get a magnet wired charger soo annoying when u get iron dirt in the port. apple magnets r soo ez to dethatched using the twisting motion it got better but still. magnet is annoying to use but when it works its great
maybe just make joycons that have normal grips like the pro controllers or xbox and ps5 and 4 instead of them being flat they could make them have "cheeks" hahahahaha
As someone with rather small hands, I think making them bulkier would be an issue for children and people with small hands ... for me they are pretty good and bulkier controlers tend to be uncomfortable pretty easy. For example the ps4 contoller is too bulky, I had to buy a smaller one. Ideally they give a choice, but since nintendo usually tends to see kids as their main customer group (which I dont say is true, but they are way more child focused than playstation or xbox) they probably thought about small hands ...
@@24LionHearts only people who say that are people who don’t know better or have not seen the two side by side and/or some eye problems, the vibrancy is reduced for lcd displays and yea they can look good but oled displays will tend to look far superior, especially side by side as well as oled displays will save on battery a noticeable amount, I believe latency on oled are almost non existent as well which would mean a faster response time in theory

tbh i my only concern for the switch 2 is.... 1. joycons need to be significantly better manufactured (with hall effect sensors) 2. a higher fps screen 3. a manageable file system!!!!, if Nintendo does these 3 things the switch 2 will sell even better than the switch 1. Other things like battery life etc can fix solved with an extension pack of some sort.
at least it will be magnetically attached (well hopefully, or at least metal instead of plastic) , cause the current attachment system on the joycons have a plastic system that wears down super ez and my first pair wore down so much that it would just fall of the switch if i put it in my hand, and my current ones are getting worse. if it was metal it would be fine, magnetic would be cool tho

If the joy cons attached by electromagnetic, will it still attach if the batery is weak? I always though thats how electromagnets work. It need to have electric current for it to turn into magnet?
A LOT of current. If this rumor is true, the electromagnet will likely be a just the release mechanism so they can get rid of the phisical buttons that do that on the current Switch. EM clamps would make sense, as they only need to activate for a second or two at a time and can be pretty small (as not much force is required for activation of a release mechanism). My guess is they would only release the joycons, the actual locking in place when you put them on would still be mechanical. Basically an electromagnetic lock.
Yeah just replace the plastic with metal on metal I got mine joy cons upgraded and switch it was so pricey with nice metal. And it got rid of the railing falling off issue I did not get drift with them rather I actually just lost the grip on them first and now with my new oled I even try to take the time to make sure I am hitting the button in the back and I am still looking grip being careful it ridiculous they just need to fix main problems with the switch models at hand and not make new one!!
I think 720p resolution is fine as long as all games hit it all the time. The problem I have with the Switch isn't the 720p display, it's that most games can't run at that resolution. Those games that do look great.
They best be having an achievement system for games, I love trying to get a Platinum medal on my PlayStation games and if we could get an achievement system for the Switch 2 it’d make it more beneficial to play more games AND replay older games
I suspect they probably won't do this. I really hope not. I can't stand achievement systems. I don't think gamers realise how much having them influences development, for the worse, and negatively impacts games.
I really really hope that last leaks about the SD cards being different and limited to 256g sounds like the mistake Sony did with the vita memory cards. That might kill entirely the console sales unless the prices of them cards isn’t ridiculously pricey…
One idea I am thinking of for a Nintendo Switch 2 is you have an obviously more powerful tablet vs the previous generation. The dock however would feature a beefy external GPU (PC grade) to give TV mode superior graphics (maybe with raytracing) and higher processing power. This would give us the best of both worlds as you now have a docked console experience that can keep up with a PS5/XBox X coupled in with the already established handheld experience. Maybe they could even throw in PC/Mac streaming over wifi/internet.The only challenge would be how easy you can switch from docked mode to tablet with an e-GPU setup vs the current generation dock setup.
With games being ported to switch which is FreeBDS / Android like running on ARM, I can assume some publishers may consider to extend their affords to port the game to Linux (steamdeck native) and possibly Mac, depending on the game, iOS and Android as well, since that is a huge market for games, bigger than consoles.
There are so many games on my Switch that I am holding off playing because I just know they'll run better on Switch 2. It's making the wait really seem like forever.
I'm hoping the switch makes its foray into VR, where you strap the screen to your head (with a buy on your own plastic piece) and use the joycons as hands.
Imo switch 2 should come with 16 GB LPDDR5. It is the standard now. Even steam deck has 16 GB LPDDR5. We’re already seeing some devs have issue coding games for XSS, since it only has 10 GB of Ram, leaving only 8 Gb for games. Don’t forget the OS will prob take up 1 GB to 2 GB. Still leaving only 10 GB for game devs. When current gen consoles (ps5/XSX) have 16 GB. Devs have access to about 12ish GB of ram for games. But 12 Gb for new switch 2 I guess will be ok. If Nintendo only went with 8 Gb, it would mean bunch current ports may not happen again. Thus already happened for current switch. There were many ps4/Xbox games didn’t get ported over. Due to the lack ram on current switch,and or would make devs have downgrading game port too much to work on switch. Cus current switch only had 4 GB ram. It should have had 8 GB imo. Switch was also suppose have pascal ( Nvidia GTX 1xxx), but Nintendo went with the cheeper GTX 9xx Series gpu, Maxwell. New switch 2 suppose be using Ampere (RTX 3xxx) so that is good. Looking forward to switch 2. But yah I hope has 16 GB LPDDR5. Will give devs more freedom Imo. Also glad coming with bigger screen. Didn’t like small 7inch on switch.
the statement of the screen said "8 inch, LCD at least on one launch model" meaning there will be at least one more variant of the switch that potentially would have OLED. I would be surprise if Nintendo would launch the new switch with only LCD panel.
the library of the switch is very solid but it depends on what type of games you want to play and if you care about the graphics they will display in handheld mode, some games like the Xenoblade games are really low graphics in handheld

I have a theory for another reason they chose a 1080p screen. If they don’t have some kind of smart delivery equivalent in place for old games, at least they’ll be able to make switch 1 games run in their docked mode by default in the new handheld mode
Aaaa idk what to say about magnets they need to be really strong and also electromagnets eat a lot of curent so? Ur switch dies and suddenly ur tablet just falls because there's no electricity to leep the magnets working, there has to be either some normal magnets or ideally a mechanical system to keep the joycons and tablet together
I'm sceptical that we'd get it this calendar year. Would be cool but its already June and we dont have an official release date, no preorders, no games set to launch with it, and very little officially from Nintendo. 6 months isnt a lot of time in the gaming world. They need time to build up hype or their initial launch is going to be lackluster.
This is exciting news as it could be performance wise much better than we originally thought. It definitely looks to be more than an incremental upgrade. I hope they have some form of upscaling the old switch games to 2K resolution. Definitely a buy for me.

I honestly think the real unveiling from Nintendo will be around April next year. It doesn't seem like they're trying to replace the switch, but have it be a "successor", more like the multiple DS versions.
I think that the joy-cons should be able to magnitize to eachother so that you don't need to have a seperate piece to make the joy-cons into a controller.

Nintendo should revisit wii u style like this: switch2+docks like normal. And second console: switch without screen but you can make your switch2 as controller with second screen like wii u. What most of us want is a game console that is backwards compatible to previous generations regardless whether it's Playstation, Xbox or Nintendo but Nintendo is notorious when it comes to backwards compatibility. Most of console gamers want to have the freedom to be able to play classic/retro games without the need to log to the digital buy again a digital copy of a game they already own a physical copy or have first/third party service that is subscription based service (rental) just to play games from previous generations that we already own (i.e. Phatansy Star Online, Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes, Xenoblade Chronicles X, 1/2/3, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, Pokemon Sword & Shield).
So, it seems switch 2 games would run only on internal storage or SD express, it is just not fast enough. So, no support for regular SD? I hope at least it has 2 SD slots, one for regular to run BC switch games .

My main issue with the switch is the joycons. They need some ergonomics. They are incredibly uncomfortable after about an hour.

Magnets aren’t ideal. You’d have to remove your wristwatch and take care not to pick up magnetic dust which can scratch the plastic

Maybe they could even throw in PC/Mac streaming over wifi/internet.The only challenge would be how easy you can switch from docked mode to tablet with an e-GPU setup vs the current generation dock setup.

With games being ported to switch which is FreeBDS / Android like running on ARM, I can assume some publishers may consider to extend their affords to port the game to Linux (steamdeck native) and possibly Mac, depending on the game, iOS and Android as well, since that is a huge market for games, bigger than consoles.

Imo switch 2 should come with 16 GB LPDDR5. It is the standard now. Even steam deck has 16 GB LPDDR5. We’re already seeing some devs have issue coding games for XSS, since it only has 10 GB of Ram, leaving only 8 Gb for games.
Don’t forget the OS will prob take up 1 GB to 2 GB. Still leaving only 10 GB for game devs. When current gen consoles (ps5/XSX) have 16 GB. Devs have access to about 12ish GB of ram for games. But 12 Gb for new switch 2 I guess will be ok. If Nintendo only went with 8 Gb, it would mean bunch current ports may not happen again.
Thus already happened for current switch. There were many ps4/Xbox games didn’t get ported over. Due to the lack ram on current switch,and or would make devs have downgrading game port too much to work on switch. Cus current switch only had 4 GB ram. It should have had 8 GB imo. Switch was also suppose have pascal ( Nvidia GTX 1xxx), but Nintendo went with the cheeper GTX 9xx Series gpu, Maxwell. New switch 2 suppose be using Ampere (RTX 3xxx) so that is good.
Looking forward to switch 2. But yah I hope has 16 GB LPDDR5. Will give devs more freedom Imo. Also glad coming with bigger screen. Didn’t like small 7inch on switch.

the statement of the screen said "8 inch, LCD at least on one launch model" meaning there will be at least one more variant of the switch that potentially would have OLED. I would be surprise if Nintendo would launch the new switch with only LCD panel.

the library of the switch is very solid but it depends on what type of games you want to play and if you care about the graphics they will display in handheld mode, some games like the Xenoblade games are really low graphics in handheld

I have a theory for another reason they chose a 1080p screen. If they don’t have some kind of smart delivery equivalent in place for old games, at least they’ll be able to make switch 1 games run in their docked mode by default in the new handheld mode
Aaaa idk what to say about magnets they need to be really strong and also electromagnets eat a lot of curent so? Ur switch dies and suddenly ur tablet just falls because there's no electricity to leep the magnets working, there has to be either some normal magnets or ideally a mechanical system to keep the joycons and tablet together
I'm sceptical that we'd get it this calendar year. Would be cool but its already June and we dont have an official release date, no preorders, no games set to launch with it, and very little officially from Nintendo. 6 months isnt a lot of time in the gaming world. They need time to build up hype or their initial launch is going to be lackluster.

Keep in mind, apparently Switch 2 will require "microSD Express" storage.. we don't know for sure if all other MicroSD will work on it.
I assume they'll be adding a new part to the cartridge, sort of similar to the 3ds cartridges when compared to ds cartridges

This is exciting news as it could be performance wise much better than we originally thought. It definitely looks to be more than an incremental upgrade. I hope they have some form of upscaling the old switch games to 2K resolution. Definitely a buy for me.

Hey I’ve a question for anybody who plays a Nintendo switch, I have a Nintendo switch and my sister is going to purchase one, she wants to play some of the games I have on my switch, I was thinking if she signed into my account on her switch would she be able to play my downloaded games that way she wouldn’t have to buy them?
I honestly think the real unveiling from Nintendo will be around April next year. It doesn't seem like they're trying to replace the switch, but have it be a "successor", more like the multiple DS versions.

I think that the joy-cons should be able to magnitize to eachother so that you don't need to have a seperate piece to make the joy-cons into a controller.

Nintendo should revisit wii u style like this: switch2+docks like normal. And second console: switch without screen but you can make your switch2 as controller with second screen like wii u. Thatll complete the exosystem. 1 game platform with 3 form factor: traditional 2 form switch and 1 ultimate nintendo experience

LCD is not worse than OLED. I actually preferred my iPhone XR LCD screen over the iPhone 14 since it is so much brighter

What most of us want is a game console that is backwards compatible to previous generations regardless whether it's Playstation, Xbox or Nintendo but Nintendo is notorious when it comes to backwards compatibility. Most of console gamers want to have the freedom to be able to play classic/retro games without the need to log to the digital buy again a digital copy of a game they already own a physical copy or have first/third party service that is subscription based service (rental) just to play games from previous generations that we already own (i.e. Phatansy Star Online, Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes, Xenoblade Chronicles X, 1/2/3, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, Pokemon Sword & Shield).

Honestly I'm fine with 1080p docked and 720p handheld if it makes the battery last longer.
If that means I can finally get ToTK at 1440p (maybe upscaled), 60Hz. I may just be sold. 12GB of LPDDR5 is solid.
