Music is split between pre MJ and post MJ. His influence is the ultimate blueprint to musical pop culture. Period…
Him and The Beatles.
@@freebandz4332 Sorry but I don’t see any Beatles’ influence in music after 1990. Yet, let me remind you that MJ was not only a music changer but a global culture shifter. This can’t be said for any other artist, at least to the level and the longevity that MJ has achieved. MJ was, is and will always be the point of reference in music and the measurement of global success. No other comes even close to him.
@@Bozidar1120 doesn’t make sense to compare them. MJ was one man, they were a band. I was simply stating they’re the two most influential acts ever. Also to say The Beatles didn’t change global culture forever is plain ignorant. They are the best selling act in history. MJ is #2.
@@freebandz4332 I am not comparing them. I am just stating the facts.
@@Bozidar1120 MJ is undoubtedly more influential in the 21st century. I don’t see how you can say one is bigger than the other. The Beatles have more than twice the amount of MJ’s #1 hits.

One thing that has proven why MJ is the greatest of all time is that he was known worldwide before the internet became a thing. Imagine that. No Facebook, no RUclips, nothin', and yet he was known. According to my dad, the first time Thriller was on television everything stopped.
Well said. Though facebook, and social media as a whole does not garantee to stay famous. You also need talent and move people. Just like he did. Well, Michael was a multitalented person on his own unreachable level. Dont think there will be a second person coming even close to him, when it cones to the ability to entertain the world. Its a big difference in having success and be out of peoples minds some day or to stay in mind forever. Thats Michael.
@@keyboardandsounds5788 right, he is an important artist.
@keyboardandsounds5788 no, the point is, he had no social media, which meant, ppl couldn't just watch him all day everyday. On social media, u can gain fans everyday. He would have broke the internet if they had it for sure. Without social media, a lot of entertainers would be nobody's, or struggling acts. The exposure it provides is massive. And he obtained more exposure and popularity than just about anybody who's capitalized from social media. So that's what he meant.
I grew up in late 80s and 90s. His video releases use to be on all major networks at 8pm. It was no joke. He was everything and everywhere. Janet had that to an extent, but not even rock stars and definitely not hip hop had that.
Yes! My siblings and I were so excited to watch the Thriller music video. I can still remember watching it for the first time.

I’m currently watching as I type and been searching around for this on YT. But Thriller is a standalone uniquely powerful album. He gave you gangsta, He gave you pop, he gave you a love song, a love story, and a high school love story. He gave you feminine and masculine, and vulnerability. Finally, some 4K scans of the Victory Tour 🎉
Right, let's celebrate over being teased with concert footage that they have absolutely zero intention on releasing.
Kids around the world knows who Michael Jackson is. That's how you know his name will never die any time soon.
We can't wait. Hopefully, it will include many live recordings from the Victory Tour. A concert from 1984 should definitely be officially released in full length anyway. Michael was at his peak, although everyone thought he had already reached it on the Triumph Tour. And with the Bad Tour he surpassed himself again. Unbelievable.
I had the supreme pleasure of seeing Michael Jackson in person twice in my life. I was on Hollywood Blvd. when he got his star on the Walk of Fame on Tuesday, November 20, 1984. The crowd only saw him for a very brief moment when he climbed on something that made him stand taller. When he got down after what seemed like 10 seconds, we all groaned. I saw him again at Dodger Stadium with his brothers during the Victory Tour. I can’t remember the exact date but the concert was rain delayed for over an hour. Then we watched as stage hands came on stage and mopped all the rain off. That took forever. Then we got a magician as an opening act. I know that Michael loved magic, and this guy was really good, but after the rain delay and the mopping, we just wanted the concert to start. I never forgot that Michael introduced his parents during the concert, and they both came on stage. We cheered and clapped like crazy. Honestly, if we knew then what we know now about how Joseph Jackson treated his son, we would have booed him offstage. 😒 I almost got to see him 3 times but got there too late. Somehow my sister and I found out where a scene for the music video for Thriller was being filmed. It was this area of Los Angeles where there’s a lot of train tracks. It’s pretty much in East LA. When we got there though, he’d already left. This documentary is going to bring back a lot of beautiful memories. Oh, and of course I saw him on tv for the Motown 20 Special. When he did the Moonwalk my jaw literally dropped 😮
Edit: I also know exactly where the Thriller house is. My Godmother lives up the street from there. The area is called Angelino Heights. They film or at least used to film a lot of tv and movie stuff up there. It’s walking distance from Echo Park Lake. It’s super close to downtown. The tv show Charmed filmed the exteriors of the house there too. The Thriller house is like 3-4 houses away from the Charmed house. I grew up walking up and down that street to go to the liquor store at the bottom of the hill to buy candy or play Pac-Man. They filmed that stuff late at night so I wasn’t there and didn’t find out about it until I saw the music video. I’m almost sure that the only person who was at that location was Ola Ray, the girl in the video. They probably shot the scenes where the zombies are trying to break into the house on a Soundstage somewhere else.
At what point did he introduce his parents? Any other cool info on the Victory concert? Did he throw his hat in the audience? Sometimes he didn't... What clothes did he wear? There are pics of him in rare jackets and costumes on tour. I can't tell if they were dress rehearsals or actual shows...
@@sunnydennison3302 I’ll never forget the Moonwalk during Billie Jean though. That was freaking magical! The drummer that toured with them was Jonathan “Sugarfoot” Moffet. He was and is a beast! I saw him during Madonna’s Who’s That Girl Tour. He was also the drummer for the ill fated This Is It Tour. In 1984, the Jackson were EVERYWHERE. Jermaine, Reebie, and even La Toya, as well as the brothers, had songs in the charts along with music videos to go with each song. Let’s not forget the infamous Pepsi commercial too.
@@sunnydennison3302 I keep trying to reply to this comment with the answers to your questions but You Tube keeps erasing the comment. 🤬 My answer’s too long I guess. 🤦🏻♀️ Ok. Reader’s Digest version: Don’t remember when his parents came out. Wanna say it was towards the end of the concert. They came out of the left side of the stage.
@@sunnydennison3302 I don’t remember if he threw his hat at the audience at the end of Billie Jean. They opened with “Wanna Be Starting Something.” Michael wanted to do this concert alone but his father had different ideas and he shoved the Jacksons into the tour. I heard that Mike was furious!
Awesome. I almost saw him October 2001 at a record signing in lower Manhattan, NYC. It was a month after 9/11 and that was the reason why I didn’t go. I knew about it before tragedy and i planned on going. After 9/11 i thought it was gonna be cancelled (because everything else was) and i couldn’t believe it when Mike released statements that he was still gonna make the appearance. When I saw him on TV when he really showed up i was floored. The place was packed. I wish i was there. But my health and safety was more important.
No one will ever top Michael. No one. Ever.
I never forgot when I BEGGED my Pops for that album back in 83 ( I was 6 yrs old ) & and I INSTANTLY knew then at that young age that the Great MICHEAL JACKSON was a phenomenon. I wanted the jacket with the zippers, glitter socks, did the Moonwalk in school & parties whenever my Pops wanted to impress company... lol
Such a nostalgic piece of untouchable artistry that Micheal Jackson created with the Unmatchable Quincy Jones leading the way. Of all the unskippable songs on that classic piece, LADY IN MY LIFE is still one of my favorite songs on that album to this day. Can't wait to see this movie/documentary.
I’ll never forget when I was little watching the Motown special and he was performing, and all of a sudden……..he does the moonwalk 🫨🫨😱😱🤯🤯🤯🤯it was unlike anything I’ve ever seen to see a man seemingly glide , backwards. Yeah I’ll NEVER FORGET THAT!!!!!
Thriller spearheaded and revolutionized popular music, video, and culture as we know it for the last 40 years and will continue to for probably the rest of the century. It established Michael Jackson as undoubtedly the most influential and popular entertainer of the 20th century. Jackson broke racial barriers in MTV and other mainstream music platforms and changed the way music videos were choreographed, shot, and produced. Pop culture has never seen anything quite as groundbreaking since Thriller and likely never will.
i love Thriller but nothing will ever top The Dark Side Of The Moon
@@wickedhouston5538 I love The dark side of the moon but nothing tops Thriller 💯

Thriller has spent 500 weeks on Billboard. The Dark Side Of The Moon has spent 985 weeks on Billboard
Thriller Album is something this world ain't never seen before that man is right even if the album came out today it would be even more intense than it is
Michael didn’t dim his musical light for anyone. He knew he wanted to be the greatest and he did that.
Michael is the reason why I’ve been pursuing music for 15 years

"Before Thriller....and After Thriller"
GREATEST ALBUM EVER
I was about 8 years old when he died, so I didn’t really care. Now all these years later, I’m staring to appreciate his extreme talent. Better late than never I guess.
I want this in cinema!! I will gladly sit for 3 hours and watch an MJ story any day!!
This looks great! The level of fame and influence MJ had and still has is unmatched, RIP MJ 👑
No matter what "he did", Michael Jackson is and always will be the King Of Pop, his legacy will never end because of an accusation that's never been proven.
Exactly. That's the rational conclusion.
So the question mark or in this case speech marks dont matter just because of Thriller? I say stay away if things are grey. You may regret it big time.
@@jponline79 is Paul Mccartney, Elvis, Jimmy Page, David Bowie, etc allegedly making love to teens a "grey area" for you as well, making you "stay away" from them, lest you "regret it big time"?
I read this in a newspaper long time ago "The two most loved people in the world were Jesus and Michael Jackson"
Finally a documentary on this classic album. This album & other great records kicked started the awesome Decade called the 80's at the end of 1982. I can't wait to see it.
Should have been at theaters
Probably should! But the others weren’t so why would this?!
@@pressurejawn Bad was in the theater.
It was showing at the Chinese Theatre in LA.
I can’t watch this 😢. I’ll cry just thinking about the man in the mirror. Rip MJ.
2024 is about to be Michael's year with the biopic move coming up.
Glad I met the king of Pop a month before he passed I will hold on to that meeting. Can’t wait to watch this documentary!!

This Documentary is a MUST SEE.

victory tour, thriller and beat it B-roll HD film footage, wow, i wish they show that in its entirety rather than just focus on the interviews.
