STAND OFF BETWEEN RHINO's -

Rhino's are special animals to see - and this morning we were truly fortunate to have seen something special
Female Rhinos can be very protective over their young and when their young approach around 2 years of age they start to wean them, this often then allows for the female to go back into oestrus.
This was fascinating to watch as this cow aggressively defended her calf, purely because the bull was most likely to try his luck and mate with her, in these cases a calf of this age can become collateral damage and thus her behaviour, and this stirred on the rest of the group, with a few young females and a young male all had something to be careful of from this male.
But what always interests me in these scenarios - just as quick as it begins it can end as well and thats exactly what happened here. The dust settled and they all went their separate ways.
