- How to Play the Up & Down Rasgueado (P-AM) for Classical and Flamenco Guitar. This video includes several exercises and close-up views to help you develop your up and down rasgueado (strum) with your right thumb (”P”) and right fingers (M, AM or AMI).
This video will help you develop a balanced sound with a good tone using the correct mechanics. To execute this technique, the fingers and thumb must strum using forearm rotation rather than up and down arm movement. This is a very important note to keep in mind.
IMPORTANT: Make sure to avoid unnecessary tension since this will cause injury and give you diminishing results. Always start slowly and loosely; never force technique beyond your tension threshold.
