CYC X1 Pro first check vs Bafang BBSHD

  • Опубликовано: 13 сен 2024
  • We tested the new CYC motor with a 50A firmware restriction at 55V against a Bafang BBSHD with 45A shunt mod at 57V.
    CYC (Gen1):
    • compact size
    • better ground clearance
    • lighter
    • better torque
    • Bluetooth display with many settings on the smartphone
    • company claims a 65A controller in the future by stock and probably up to 20S
    • easy changing 104 mm BCD chainrings and cheaper. But restricted on one chainline
    • nicer housing and better bearings
    • in the beta period
    • small company which is interested in feedback and improvements
    ✔️ 3000-5000W New Gen2-Version can be found here: fasterbikes.eu...
    ✔️ 1500W CYC X1 Stealth: fasterbikes.eu...
    ✔️ 1000W Bafang: fasterbikes.eu...
    • cost less
    • more display options and accessories
    • by stock only 30A
    • 1 nylon gear, which breaks easier but produces less noise (can be replaced by peek or steel gear)
    • different chainrings offer a variety of chain lines
    • Bafang refuses cooperation with improvements
Both bikes are not fully finished and some final wiring has to be done. We like to be flexible in changes 😊

The CYC X1 really comes to life with the BAC 800 controller with a 52v or 72v battery. It becomes a beast with the ERT BAC 400 or 800 give it a try, So much smoother, and better throttle control as well as torque due to the controller's amazing performance. Same with the BBSHD so much more power with ERT BAC 800 controller its a beast. Fantastic review though
    Cheers

Thank for a great comparison. The ASI BAC 800 is showing much promise with the X1 PRO. The BBSHD is also running on the ASI. At 20S they both run much better with lees strain on the drivetrain. Less amps used. Both are 45mph. The X1 will be superior with final ASI tuning.

I like the amount of watts/amps the CYC can pull, but they should really do something about that noise. It's the only thing preventing me from buying this thing (and maybe the shipping time). It's one thing that the sound pitch itself is not pleasant to listen to, but it's another that it's loud.

I think it's important to note what little difference pushing your bafang over 30 A has. There will be a minor speed and acceleration bump at the cost of much shorter range and accelerated wear on the nylon gear. Also the bafang got the EggRider which I think is essential since you can use a EU legal and off-road profile.

    • @fasterbikeseu
      @fasterbikeseu  5 лет назад

more power is always good to have, if you want some. It doesn't mean I'm always using it and the daily riding is done at a similar speed and power. But good to have if you are in a hurry… 30A is fine and seems that the HD is good also with 45A. And I'm not sure if a Eggrider is fully legal in the EU, since the power can be restricted with a button, when you see the police.

@@chargeriderepeat7024 Switch to lower gears and it will be similar in noise. Only reason it's is due to nylon gear, which most throw away if they run much higher than 30A. There is no reason to buy bbshd in the first place, if you don't plan to change this gear. Bbs02 weighs less and has better alignment, larger chainrings and is capable of running 30A too.

Google the desription from here and you will find how to: BBSHD 45A shunt mod
The shunt measures the amperage of the controller. There are different shunt values to choose. E.g. Half the shut value and the controller thinks to provide the same 30A, but provides 60A instead, but shows 30A in the display. I have tested it for a while and I would say, it isn't really worth it, since using more power, the motor has a overheating problem. Also the 45A feels like 10% more, because of the saturation of the motor. It is fine for a few short boosts, but you have to watch out for the nylon gear.
Also you need a battery, which can provide the power, like 50A continuos if you want to use it for longer in the flat.
