  • This video is not a tutorial but a demonstration that a negative scraper can cut dry pine cleanly. It was in response to comments that you can’t do it.
    Watch to the end to see the grind I put on my scraper.
    The negative scraper is a tool that my Great Grandfather used a lot and passed the grind on through the family tradition. #woodturning #scraper #tools #handmade

    You're a master! Love watching your skills. I will not be attempting this, though 😁 Will continue honing my gouge skills and learning the 'feel'. Your 'feel' is incredible, and wonderful to watch you administer it. Especially the skew!
    Thanks for posting your videos. Adam from Tasmania, Australia.

    Great video as always, would like to see you make something unusual perhaps where several turned parts come together and obviously making a longer video. Best regards..Terry..

    Interesting video, when would you favour this chisel over your skew?

    • @woodturner21
      @woodturner21  Год назад +4

      I never use a skew on faceplate work. And never use the scraper on spindle work.

    Nice work! How often did you have to refresh the burr to turn this piece?

    • @woodturner21
      @woodturner21  Год назад +1

      I didn’t refresh on this piece this is real speed and not edited it’s exactly as you see it.

      @@woodturner21 I thought so but wanted to make sure. Is the scraper HSS or something more durable? Your great grandfather was way ahead of his time! Thanks for the videos…I love watching.

    Do you slip stone the top or do you go to the grinder to sharpen both surfaces when you feel it is not working for you 🤔

    • @woodturner21
      @woodturner21  Год назад

      I grind the bottom bevel regularly. I only grind the top bevel occasionally.
