i flip tarot for myself. i find that the art contains symbols that i subconsciously attribute to my questions. then it gives me food-for-thought. "a focusing tool".... excellent way to express it. you are exactly right.
cards only works when i flip for myself because another person can't make those subconscious connections that my own mind can.
sometimes i can achieve the same insight by looking at a painting or analyzing good literary work.

Tropical Astrology doesn't have whole lot information to give out . Which is sad .
Using 1 birth chart and Zodiac signs . That isn't much to go on . Probably why some Tropical Astrologers starting to lean towards Vedic Sidereal Astrology .

@@94nolo I was a skeptic to especially astrology. I can't argue if someone else thinks it's BS for theirs. For me this stuff has always been on point and kinda eerie.
Mostly though I take astrology to be the same as a philosophy, bible or any religious or spiritual text, or a school text book. I think it's more passing on actual practical knowledge about different energies of the electromagnetic kind. I think people get caught up in the Gods and mystical bits too much in a lot of this stuff and don't realize what's being shared. Usually it stops at being allegory for human behavior or personality but what if they're allegories for how nature or the universe works. The things things they knew. Would be no different from our comics.

It's great to discuss beliefs in a safe and non-judgmental way. Well done. I believe, no matter the belief system or tool that an individual uses such as tarot cards, the Divine will meet you half way and use your understanding of the world to guide you, assist you, and show you that you are loved. If you listen to NDE's, the other side uses your understanding of religion or spirituality on this earthly life to guide you on your journey during the NDE. For example, during an NDE, if you were raised aa a Buddhist, you are not likely to interact with a Divine being you would associate with Jesus, however, if you were raised as a Christian, you might. The divine knows us all intimately and knows how to get our attention and interact with us in a way that we understand. When necessary or when you ask for help, the Divine will get your attention one way or another.

I agree. I dabbled with it and the thing is - whatever I expected of the reader to tell me, they told me. It's a pattern. Just telling me what my beliefs are. Once I learned to be honest with my mind and acknowledge my beliefs, I dont need a tarot reader to tell me. I simply need myself to consciously create the life I want without others confirming I'm on the right path. When you know you know :)

You bring up a concept known as "confirmation bias." It's a good reminder to all of us how common and easy it is to ignore information inconsistent with personal belief. That game of Taroc is to this day a very popular gambling and social custom in many parts of Europe, really--divination and gambling are intimately entwined.

It’s not just tarot readers who filter things through their own belief system; it’s other intuitives as well. But those energies can change leading up to a big event (like an election).

I do believe that tarot readings are or seem to be a mirror of what what is happening in the moment, but of course anything can change from one day to the next. It does pick up on energy so I do believe they are a good tool if someone needs affirmation on a particular situation or question. But I just view them as divination tools and I will agree that divination is an old practice, but it doesn’t mean that the ancient people did tarot, however they probably used a different divination tool or technique. But like with anything, you really have to know what you’re doing and you have to have an understanding of what they mean. There are times where in my immature stages I did misinterpret tarot readings or meanings. However there are times when I was actually on point about something, but again I find that it mostly mirrors the moment and yes that moment and situation can change.

So would it not be better to let go of our beliefs? If that could be done could truth enter then? If our beliefs make up the self then the killing or destruction of said beliefs would cause the self to maybe no longer exsist and if that happened would and could father save said person? Is that not what needs to be done? To make it so the only word that has any value is his word? I wonder if we are supposed to make our selfs so small that he can be all that is seen? Just wondering.

Hey John, historically people have used everything as a divination tool. Clouds, birds, cards the Bible. People want to know what lies ahead and our brains a pattern recognion machines. I love tarot for its symbolism and beauty. Women traditionally used all kinds of things for divination because we were locked out of the power structure. Then of course they were burned as witches, if they were cought trying to divine the future. I agree with you that all the answers we need are within us.

Hello John. Just as an attempt at clarification (and if someone reading this is a Reiki practitioner, please feel free to correct me) When I took Reiki one and two I seem to recall that I heard that Reiki energy *may* have been what Jesus tapped into. As he was much more closely connected and a *higher vibration* than most of the rest of us, I always thought of it like, "well, of course. We are conduits for Reiki energy, it's not from ourselves, therefore Jesus easily connected with the healing that is available to all of us, not just *special" people. And, of course, he had no need for the Reiki symbols. I have to say, I'm a natural sceptic, as one of my fellow followers commented below, and I took the two Reiki classes because the first one was a "barter" for my Interpreting services, the second one was gifted to me. I could never really fully commit to the power of the symbols, however....every single person I gave Reiki energy, I FELT all kinds of things. The energy, an intuitive message for the receiver, I had a weird metallic taste in my mouth for someone I found out was a jewelry/metal worker. Maybe all that would've happened without Reiki? I don't know.Often, when the first time receiver of Reiki shared their experience with me, it was all very similar sensations. Whatever it is it has some kind of healing/comforting energy. I know of at least two hospital ER's who have a Dr. (yes an MD! ) who will use it with permission. But anyway, another long winded comment from me. Thank you for your work, John. ~Darcy

The only way to make an informed opinion is to learn something yourself. Tarot is so abused and misused on the internet these days. different decks were created for different purposes. Read Edward Waites books to understand the symbolism and the astrological elements, and religious symbols. In Crowleys Toth deck. You have to understand the Tree of life and Egyptian astrology to understand it and its meant to help you connect with your own subconscious. Today anyone can create a deck but they are missing that spiritual connection. So if you use the right decks in the right way, they are a great tool to help you connect but if you use decks made by joe shmoe its not going to have the same effect. There was actually a lot more to it and way more history. Not everyone is open enough to receive messages without tools so when used right, tarot is helpful.

Had no idea tarot had a history of being a game but it makes sense. Without the cards people have always done "that" though. If this, then it means X. Movie Big daddy when Sandler tries to sink the put, rats. I'm not knowledgable on what exactly is considered "off limits" or a no no when it comes to most "spiritual" stuff outside a religious view which. Obviously anything of ill intent doesn't need explaining. Ouija IMO if you're going to mess with spirits they'll mess with you, so don't. It's that religious view that has me wondering if devices that were simply tools but via religion get called devilry because religion became all so many people were left with. A hammer doesn't build a house but it helps. A crystal ball can't predict the future but it could help see what I can only term as possibility or potential but not an answer. Unless it draws on something negative in which case throw it out, although it's not the ball that's doing the actual work. Are things like that tools like a weight that people would eventually move on from? Maybe a person isn't aware that it's them and some of these things were tools to help what's already there not import it.

Maybe Numerology points out probable strengths, we all have a little of everything. Same with Astrology.
I read Tarot for myself as a consciousness tool
for general insight of current states
or maybe advice on which area to concentrate on.
I look at all of the symbolism and correspondences associated with the card.
I never use it to try to predict anything. (some things, some times, it happens)
They seem to sum up what ever it is I am going through at the time,
I use my intuition for the insight, for what kind of reading to do,
    and when/which cards to draw.
I am the one in control.
The cards are NOT reading ME.
