I know what you are talking about when worrying about hosting. I tend to host our families a lot. My tip especially for Thanksgiving is to do what you can days before so the day of goes smoothly and you can enjoy yourself too. I prep the stuffing ahead of time and get the relish tray, veggies, sides, pies etc done ahead of time. The day of is I make the turkey, potatoes and gravy. Hope that helps, you will do great. 🥰

Right on! Store prepared items in zip bags, write on each what it's for, then easily assembled day of. If possible, use roasters, crock pots, and picnic coolers are great for keeping hot dishes hot, using newspaper or? for extra insulation. Have others bring something. Can you tell I have a large family?!?

I host Thanksgiving every year. My biggest stressor is worrying my house isn’t clean enough! I have this complete irrational need to make sure every inch of my house is spotless before I host. So I need to start deep cleaning now so I’m not panic cleaning the day before, lol! Feel free to do a get ready to host clean with me video and make it extra long! 😉

Hi Karlie. We host each year and I like to make everything but the bird and gravy the day before. Thanksgiving morning I get up and put the turkey in, then clean while I watch the parade, and just pop sides, rolls in the over to reheat, and make the gravy.

    Oh Kerri,
I definitely relate to the stress and anxiety of hosting. My hubby and I host every Thanksgiving and Christmas for the past 14 years with his side of the family. I’m very grumpy and exhausted during this time of the year. This year is especially hard being’s my little brother suddenly passed away in his sleep four days ago. So, currently I’m planning with my Dad a memorial service .. In my experience, don’t stress over the little things. Theirs always enough food with more leftovers then you want to have. Embrace the family time and take lots of pictures. You never know when it’s the last holiday or last picture you will have with a love one. The last picture I have with my brother was taken last Christmas . I wished I had more with him but not only during the holidays but through out the year as well.

I really love the lights. I know the extra lighting helps a lot when doing anything in the kitchen. I remember the first year I hosted Thanksgiving. It was also my first time cooking a turkey. I read up on how long it would take to cook, the rest time and the carving. I let my in-laws know what time we would be eating. Of course they got to my house hours early. It was actually at the time I was just putting the turkey in the oven. She went ballistic when she saw I was just cooking the turkey. She kept saying we wouldn't be eating till midnight. That I should have put the turkey in the oven by 6:00 AM that morning. I told her to just wait and see. So, when it was time to sit down to eat, at the time I had said we would eat, lol, and she took her first bite, while of course having a smirk on her face like she thought she was going to get to say, She told me so, because she expected it to be raw, lol, but that first bite her whole expression changed. The turkey was juicy with crispy skin and so delicious. My FIL kept saying while he ate that that was the best turkey he had ever tasted. Lol. Just getting to basically rub my MIL's nose in the fact that I was successful was worth the hard work. She never doubted my cooking again. Karrie, you've got this and if people didn't enjoy your cooking or coming to your house, they wouldn't show up in the first place. So relax.

Thanksgiving suggestions- I have hosted forever. I would make the turkey and dressing. I then ask everyone else to bring an appetizer, side, salad or dessert. This way you are not doing everything. Once I get a final head count, I let everyone know how many are coming. If there are a lot of people coming -just do paper/plastic plates/silverware/cups. there are a lot of fancy ones out there to spruce it up for the holidays. This way you are not making all the food and clean up is easy. Enjoy!

I don't celebrate Halloween. We live way out in the country so there are no trick or treaters and my husband's and I aren't ones to dress up in costumes. Regarding hosting: I'm not thrilled, but another couple usually join us, including our 35 year old son. We each prepare parts of the meal so no one is left with all the work. Without a dishwasher the dishes is the hardest part of the meal. Normally I like impromptu get together with friends. Watching you clean today made me feel lazy. I fell out of bed this morning (guess I need bars) and hurt my foot so the day has been spent on the sofa babying it. Hopefully I'll be able to put a shoe on tomorrow for church. I'm a real klutz!

I don’t host things at my house. Too small and foods too expensive now days. We used to have big family get togethers. But as the generation’s die off, we are the older generation now. So I stay home. My sister and I and her daughter’s hang out together. I’m flexible and don’t mind hanging out watching a movie. It’s all good.
You reminded me of something with the baby oil. One of the girls that live down the street from me. Her stepmom would put baby oil on the bathroom tiles in the shower. Makes sense it would repel water. Don’t know how often she did it. I’d guess twice a month. I’m going to try it on my newly tiled bathroom.
Hope y’all have a good Halloween. Stay safe.

Cook ahead as much as possible. But, that requires refrigeration, so if you don’t have room in your refrigerator, you can’t do it. Sounds like you’re going to have a crowd, so ask everyone to bring a side dish (assign a different one to all so you don’t have dupes) then all you have to do is the Turkey. I live in NJ, gets very cold here, so I cook everything ahead of time except the Turkey, and then I can keep it cold on my enclosed porch (it’s not heated) and in the trunk of my car. I also tell everyone to bring their own containers so they can take leftovers home.

I feel the same when hosting but yet I love cooking lol I think my stress or panic helps keep me super organized! I start but what am I going to make, make lists, prep things that I can night before. Thanksgiving. I put turkey in this big electric roasting pan in counter, then i put my pineapple, marishino ham in crockpot, so my oven can be free for my caseroles. This year ( Ontario Canada already had thanksgiving) I RUclips’s new different things to make, like Jamie Oliver’s stuffing( was amazing) sweet potatoe caserole with nut brown sugar topping, yummy! Green bean caserole with mushroom soup and French onions, mmm, then corn, mash potatoes, I made a quick desert from RUclips jello marshmellow fruit salad. Bought pumpkin pie, apple pie, pecan pie. We ate outside weather was perfect for fall. I have a 6 foot table I put all the food on with plates n cutlery and we all ate outside on this long table I have. Turned out awesome! Thank God.
Two days before I shopped. I put all ingredients I would need in each pan I’d be using. Peeled and chopped potatoes for mash night before, prepared each caserole night before. Cooked each day of thanksgiving while turkey cooking then kept them warm with foil and cloth on top. While cutting turkey Ilan making gravy put 2 casseroles in oven to make hotter. Strategizing, organizing and timing is key!!
    Have a great thanksgiving

Put your frozen turkey in the refrigerator on Sunday before Thanksgiving.
Start a list now for each week before Thanksgiving. The final week of Thanksgiving turn your list into days. For example Wednesday clean bathrooms and floors. Tuesday clean refrigerator and stove. Monday shop for perishable goods. Another gigantic help is get your guests to bring a dish. It relieves a bunch of cooking stress on your end.
You will do fine you are a smart girl 👍🏻

I've hosted for 50 or more and rented a tent (because it gets cold here in Maryland) and host for 20 every year inside the house. The key for me is do it buffet style. Do yourself that favor. Its less stressful and everything is contained in the buffet trays. You can get the trays and the stands for the trays at Costco or party city, but I'll bet you already have them at the ranch. Also, a fresh turkey is best. Unbelievable taste, and use the rosting bags!!! You can't mess it up and it comes out PERFECT every time. They will think you're a chef! That's how good these bags are. They do all the work for you and you don't have to keep basting the turkey!!
Side note; you can also purchase your big cans of vegetables or big frozen bags of vegetables from Costco as well and then just pour them in the pans. And Voila! Easy peasy, no stress and you've made it through the Holiday and can even enjoy it!
Let me know if have any questions. Love you all. BIG HUGS 🙏🧡😊
Ps...if you don't have a Costco card. You can do one day pass as well.

But really if you plan ahead the menu, and set everything up ahead of the guests arrival you should have no problem. If anything we used to make too much, but it's great for the next day and you don't have to cook! ...Plus, after the guests leave there is a calm and you are grateful that you had everyone over and enjoyed everyone's company and conversation.

I delegate certain jobs to family members, use paper plates, cups, regular silverware (it's a MIL thing), I do all the cooking for the main meal, drinks, deserts, appetizers are brought by family. Guys do all the clean up. Us girls sit down for a cup of tea and read all of the store ads for Christmas and visit. I host Thanksgiving now for the last several years and I stress too. Lists are my best friend. I put the rough time each dish needs to go in the oven on the list for the day of and prep everything I can the day before. My biggest tip is that the people who love you never judge you, your food, or your home as harshly as you judge yourself. It doesn't have to be perfect. If, by chance, the worst happens it will be a funny story to tell years later. Take out or frozen TV turkey dinners can work just fine when mixed with good company. I try to embrace the chaos and be present for the memories. Happy Thanksgiving!

I have hosted Christmas and Thanksgiving for the last 3 or 4 years. My tip to make things easier on yourself is to choose something easy to make. I generally do vegetables and then worry about plates, napkins, etc. We use paper plates for holidays.
With less cooking to worry about you can do use more on preparing your house for company and you don’t have to stress with having so much to do.

I always have everyone come with their favorite dish for thanksgiving that way it takes the load off me. Then I like to have my stuff prepped the day before...for example my Mac an cheese it will be all put together an ready to go in the oven. Makes the day of so much easier. An always keep it simple!!! Make the recipe u know an love no new stuff an just keep it simple. U got it but I'm like u I still stress.

You should invest in a bona hardwood floor mop. It is like the swiffer but the pads are washable and the cleaning solution bottle is made to be refilled. It costs between $25-$35. I used the cleaning solution on my laminate and tiled floors with no problem. Love mine.

I live in England so don't celebrate Thanksgiving but for anytime I entertain I prepare as much aas I can't be day before, vegetables & any food that can be served cold and make a list, it helps clear your mind, just tick of things you have done. Also you could ask guests to fetch a dish or dessert.

My favorite cleaning video of yours yet! I like the ratio of music to talking and I like the usage of lyric free music!! The songs that are typically used in videos have started to make me feel aggravated every time I hear them😬 Also, I like when you put in before and after shots and your angles were on point!

My husband and I split the hosting responsibilities. We make a game plan with a written list and prepare ahead. Good luck. My husband takes the lead. He enjoys getting up early and preparing the meats.

For Thanksgiving, fix casseroles or whatever a day ahead if u can. Then pot in the oven the next day. Also, ask family members to make a dish or two so it’s not all on u to make everything.

Nice video but I’ve learned to never store dishes in the oven. I rarely used my oven, you could say never used my oven. Well, on the one occasion I needed to use it, I preheated it forgetting I had dishes in there. Needless to say, I will never store dishes in my oven again. Also, I just subscribed to your channel! Love it!

Hi there. When you put the baby oil to clean the stainless steel appliances can you use anything to clean it with the baby oil? Just wondering does it stain the cloth after you use it? If so what's best to use for it? Just wondering.

I think many are having thanksgiving anxiety just since food is so dang expensive.
Tips: place napkins, silverware and drinks at the end of the buffet table if that’s how you are setting it up. Have everyone bring something. Do as much prep work the previous 3-4 days.
Have a small basket with small craft kits for little kids to do while the adults get the food set up, or while people are visiting. Hobby lobby have some super cheap thanksgiving kits that I buy every year for just a couple of bucks.
