Love Richard Marx i still own his albums from years and years ago when i bought them. Right here waiting was and still is my favorite song by him. And angels lullaby by him i sang it to my son after he was born and rocked him to sleep with that song what a beautiful song.

What a cool story! I have loved Richard since 1988, have 16 of his “albums,” and never knew this story!

the title of this video is misleading, he did not write this song for Barbara Streisand specifically, he wrote it for his wife Cynthia Rhodes at the time he was busy touring and the song talks about how much he missed her while he was touring. He had already written the song for his wife before Barbara's manager contacted him, he initially decided to give this song to Barbara since he originally did not want to record it, but Barbara rejected it so he then decided to record the song himself.

But you didn't mention that she recorded your song, "If You Ever Leave Me" duet with Vince Gill on her 1999 album, "A Love Like Ours," and your recording of, "The Power Inside of Me" appeared on her 1996 film soundtrack to "The Mirror Has Two Faces." Nicely done, Richard from Chicago!

A little bit of a different story than what I recall hearing back in 1989....
I heard it was written for his wife Cynthia Rhodes while he was on the road touring, the song describes how he was missing her.

Harry Balls maybe that was true too. I mean the lyrics was always ‘right here waiting’

Yeah it was true, but that doesn't mean that he can't give the song to someone else to record. He has probably made as much from writing music for other people to record, than he has his own releases.

yes he wrote this song for his ex-wife at the time, he had already written the song before Barbara Streisand's manager contacted him. The title of this video is misleading, it made it sound like he wrote the song specifically for Barbara but that's not the case.

Yes, but he's gotten divorced from her since then and remarried to someone else. So I can't blame him for not mentioning her in this explanation.

I don't blame him for not mentioning his ex wife in his story. He's remarried to another woman now, so it makes sense to not add that part.
