this was one of our favorite days on the trail and it was our anniversary which was a bonus ☺ We had seen people walking along the road last year on our road trip through Scotland and thought "I wonder what hike they are on..it looks beautiful here!" and now we get to share it with you ❤❤❤ hope you enjoy the views and beauty as much as we did! (watch our road trip next if you haven't yet: ruclips.net/video/n3F9QEvPY7U/видео.html)
I have to say that I have watched many videos about the WHW, mainly from backpackers, but your videos are right up there in terms of content, information and enjoyment. Thank you so much for putting out this series of films.
Really loving your journey across the WHW. My friend and I walked it for the second time in April this year. We stayed at some of the same accommodations as you but we were in the bunkhouse at Kingshouse, which was also fabulous. The cost of your room for the night at Kingshouse was what we each spent on accommodation for the whole of the WHW and we stayed in bed & breakfasts and bunkhouses. I know it was your wedding anniversary and don’t begrudge you the luxury at all. I just want to highlight that it is totally possible to stay in good accommodation on a budget. Watching this has made me want to hike the West Highland Way again next year. It’s addictive!
Kingshouse (hotel) rooms were definitely overpriced and because we landed on a weekend it was a two night minimum. We heard bad stories about the bunkhouse being under staffed and neglected. We definitely noticed the issue of understaffed personnel at the hotel and restaurant. But…the food was pretty good and the views were amazing!
This is my favourite day on WHW. You crossed Rannoch Moor One the true wilderness areas of Europe. Rugged and spectacular. It’s raw beauty always leaves me in awe
Your vids are top class & give anyone a real feel for this hike and its scenery; the drone shots really help in that regard. Having just completed the WHW a month ago, you're making me want to do the whole thing again.... well apart from certain Loch Lomond sections! 14:45 🤣 Oh yeah, the times I had to stop to put on my fleece, take it off, take off or pull on my overtrousers - boots off for this cos they don't make the holes big enough - for impending rain which then passed me by!
Belated Anniversary Crystal and B, only now getting around to watching your latest videos on the WHW and it looks so AMAZZZZING ! When I find 10 days in my schedule, I’m going to put on my shoes and rucksack and head North 👍xx
Thank you for all these vlogs. As a Scot I try to never take my country's scenery for granted. For such a small country it amazes me that there is always a new area of beauty to discover.
We just finished a terrific 7 day WHW trip- total 101.9 miles. Your videos were very helpful as well your AllTrails app recommendation, they ought to sponsor you. Thanks
How beautiful! That was one of my favorite days of the walk. It was still cool in April when we walked, but sunny and windy and there were a few toasted people at Kingshouse when we stayed there. ☺
Happy Anniversary to you both what an amazing way to spend your anniversary..I'm missing your van adventures but loving seeing the country and places I'll never see through you
I love your videos. My genealogy is, Irish and Cherokee with a splash of English…lol.. anyhow, you Guys are trekking one of my dreams. I’d love to hike Scotland and Ireland. Thank you, so much, for including us in your journey. Many prayers as you step forward. ✌️❤️
Happy anniversary! You really have lucked out with the weather? I feel your struggle with the shifting clothing with shifting weather. We will be spending two weeks next May in Scotland doing outdoorsy stuff (a couple nights at the Oak Tree in Balmaha!) but following three weeks in England doing city stuff and we typically pack very light. We will have to make some difficult choices, like perhaps not packing “nice” clothes at all 😭
Having done the walk 7 times and wild camped mostly it's nice to see the alternative accomodation options 😋 kingshouse had a lot more character before the renovation but it's a great spot for an anniversary right enough. Congrats to you both.
Hey Crystal & Brian you are still in Scotland, how long has it been? Very experienced with trekking doing the prep with your feet & yoga stretching! 👍🤗 Scotland is beautiful & rugged & I hope popular tourism doesn’t spoil the countryside? Happy Anniversary 🎉🥃🥃❤️🏴
Wonderful to relive our WHW with you, and congratulations on your anniversary! Can I ask what month/days you were walking? We started on June 9th and finished on the 16th and had sunny, warm weather all the way. Great video work and editing, BTW!
I am in awe of Scotland's beautiful mountain range. Do you ever when your trekking sing out" the hills are alive with the sound of music "(from the Sound of Music) ? God's creation is awesome.
Crystal! Will you put out some awesome info on the WHW like you did for the Camino? Im struggling to find locations near trail or to navigate their websites. Your a G and shockingly I am finding it harder to book this trip then any other..even with the WHW website.
Id love to do the WHW, But i wouldnt do it myself. No fun in that. Well not for me. May is probably the best month to do it 👍 July has been a wash-out 🙄
We hiked with a day bag. Our suitcases were transported from hotel to hotel by a luggage transport service. For 3 months we were traveling to other countries before and after this trek hence why we had suitcases.
I have no idea if I'm commenting on the correct episode, but I want to congratulate you on being able to choose a gluten free diet. My husband has no such choice. Were he to have even a nibble of glutenous bread (like you did) he'd be bloating and suffering from dreadful diarrhoea for the next few days; it's worse for coeliacs. Doing so also helps persuade others that everyone's GF diet is about following a fad. It's already hard enough to find GF food at all - far harder than vegan food, of course - without you filming yourself proving it isn't really necessary.
Its a real shame about the toilet paper all over the place, unfortunately thats Britain all over, i dont understand why people do it. Im hoping to do the camino this year and enjoying this series of films, but the camino is calling.

This was filmed back in May 2023.
Stretching was a big part of our daily morning routines. Very important!
Wonderful to relive our WHW with you, and congratulations on your anniversary! Can I ask what month/days you were walking? We started on June 9th and finished on the 16th and had sunny, warm weather all the way. Great video work and editing, BTW!
Thank you! We were on the WHW the last 2 weeks of May 2023.

You only go up to days 5&6, but you said its a 10 day hike. Is there more to come? 7-10. Waiting to see you get to the end?
Episode 7 came out yesterday.
Id love to do the WHW, But i wouldnt do it myself. No fun in that. Well not for me.
May is probably the best month to do it 👍 July has been a wash-out 🙄
Yes this series was filmed in May 2023.
We had the best weather! Sorry to hear July has been so rainy.
Staying at places during the night and not having to carry a tent, what size of a backpack/rucksack did you have?
We hiked with a day bag. Our suitcases were transported from hotel to hotel by a luggage transport service.
For 3 months we were traveling to other countries before and after this trek hence why we had suitcases.
Which month has the most beautiful weather there?
We hiked late May/early June and thought the weather was perfect.
Now you know why The British talk about weather a lot - four seasons in one day 😂
I love a wooden sandwich.🥴🏴
