It's baby zombies that make me so grateful that 1/2 block gaps exist instead of only 1 block gaps. I've had mob farms that give me baby zombies in full enchanted golden armor, and if they could get through 1/2 block gaps, I'd be a goner every time

sugar cane was originally called reeds, and was commonly referred to as bamboo before being changed to sugar cane. The name probably stuck up until bamboo itself was added.
Kind of like how stone used to be called smoothstone to differentiate it from cobblestone, and then actual smoothstone was added.
And that's not even getting into half-slabs.
In a nutshell, the spooky noise you hear when entering a cave (ones that aren't the usual mob noises) it's not dangerous and won't hurt you. All it is, is when the game detects low levels of light (lower than 5 levels or so) it'll play a creepy noise because it believes you're in a cave and they're trying to scare you. It scared me for a while too till I learnt, that it's literally just the game being programmed to make noise in the dark to spook ya
But does it have any significance in the lore?? Like idk there's another boss other than the ender dragon hidden in the overworld and it makes those sounds or smt? Idk I'm just not satisfied with the fact that its literally nothing
No significance whatsoever. It's just ambient sound. If you turn on subtitles, it just says "eerie noise." Might change if we ever get the cave update
Valerie Pitre According to Minecraft wiki, the ambient eerie noises IS part of the Minecraft lore, and so these noises are noises of when the miners are in the mines and when trouble happens. Each noises plays a significant part into telling you the story but these noises do not happen in chronological order.
Valerie Pitre it does cause one cave sound is the grunt of a blaze, which can only be heard near bedrock. and since the nether, which is where blazes are from, is minectafts version of hell, and hell is believed to be located under the world, it makes sense.

Some tips

1. Sound cues can be very important, certain spooky sounds can mean either, cave, abandoned mineshaft, cavern, or fortress
2. Jump and full swing to perform a crit
the most damage you can do ^^^^^^
3. You can hold torches in your off hand for easy placement while mining( also offhand shield is useful)
4. Rotten flesh is actually a good food source, it doesn’t hurt your health, it only makes you slightly hungry, but just eat more flesh 🤷♂️
5. An adventure to a structure spawns is always fun, like living with villagers, raiding temples( jungle or desert).
6. Axes actually deal more damage than swords they just hit more slowly
