    He was soft spoken, intense, troubled, unhappy, un loved, but had a beautiful very manly, sensuous voice. I hope he has found peace where ever he is..Thank you , Marvin for your. wonderful gift of song. You made this trip called life a little easy for me. You're appreciated.

    Marvin's album What's Going On should have won a Grammy. It's considered one of the top 20 albums in music history. Shame on the music industry for not giving him his due.

      For starters, it was not Marvin Gayes song. He basically stole it from Renaldo Benson of the Four Tops, wrote the album and took all the credit.

    • @timmy841212
      @timmy841212 5 лет назад +9

      @@carolynbratton7827 Renaldo didn't write it, Al Cleveland did, he based it off Renaldo's stories. They gave it to Marvin when Renaldo's band mates in the Four Tops didn't accept it. Marvin added more composition and lyrics to it after he was allowed to take credit. Renaldo didn't write the album either lol

      I Agree With You Miss Barbara. Marvin To Me Was One Of The Greatest Soul Singers. He May Be Gone But Never Forgotten. To Take A Life Is A Mortal Sin. What May Have Helped Him With His Demons Would Have Been To Get Him Some Help With His Issues. A Bullet Was NOT The Answer!!!! He Loved His Mother So Much And His Dad Was Always Kicked To The Side Lines. His Dad Didn't Like Him And Pulling The Trigger Didn't Bother Him!!! He Is Greatly Missed But His Music Will Live On Forever. Thank You And May You Rest In Eternal Peace. ✝️

    There will never be another that comes close to Marvin Gaye, he was a bad ass singer, writer, arranger, composer and futurist.His music will exist until the end of time, His desire was to cross over to white audiences and radio stations and he did. He wrote and played most of the instruments and background vocals on most of his music, truly a one man band long before Prince. The music we have today is essentially trash including rap etc. but its all we have at the moment. Marvin's music challenges us in the times we live today, with all the police killings as in the riotous sixties. Its amazing to listen to his work and see how it bridges the gap of hatred and segregation. The question remains unanswered even now...WHATS GOING ON?

    When I was a sophmore in college, the black student union had a weekend retreat at a local recreation camp/lodge, and cleared the lodge's play-room of chairs and tables one night so we could really do bizness on the newly 'recreated' dance floor. I remember that two songs in particular, Grace Jones' 'Nipple to the Bottle' and 'Sexual Healing' got even the normally shy and quiet students showing their other beings on the floor IMMEDIATELY.
    Ironic of Grace Jones and Marvin in the clip

      Once I started reading the 1st 10 - 20 pages of her memoir....I already came to the conclusion of what she was...and I feel she and Marvin were toxic for one another....she didnt help him kick his addiction to drugs.....or help him learn to manage his money so that he wouldn't become a destitute...so far what Im reading is that all she knew was drugs...sex...and being a light skin freckle face teenager that purposely had him and other grown men lusting for her
      but you cant put all the blame on her.....esp because she was in fact a kid....and had no responsibile adult in her life to guide her
