MTV Unplugged was around for about a year before Tesla did this performance and recorded it. But I agree that this performance helped to jumpstart the unplugged thing and drew a lot of attention. I think this album proved there was a market for acoustic albums. Tesla should be credited with at least that part -- proving the market existed.
Unplugged was around and must watch TV long before Tesla toured this acoustic show in 5 cities. So more a product of the MTV but definitely took the concept to a different level. I was there that night at the Troc and it was phenomenal
I love Frank Hannon's passion for all kinds of music. He is master and student of various stringed instruments. His solo stuff is awsome. I love how he added a lil Heart intro into that. Tesla had the balls to add acoustical work from the start. Modern Day Cowboy had it.....all the other 80's bands wouldn't have done it. Tesla also rejected the make up....which back then , the record companies damn near demanded it. Why these guys ain't in the Hall of Fame I'll never know
Crazy that they aren't performing arenas cause the lead singer can still kill it and has a strong voice. They are performing at house of blues here in dallas in may
Tesla recorded this at the Troubadour in Philly. (Sorry if spelled wrong) They were on tour with Motley Crue I believe, and they did a few acoustic show in smaller venues during the tours day off They did a few songs on live radio station in NY to promote there show and the song “Signs “ became a requested hit in NY The record company heard about it and asked if they recorded any of there live acoustic shows, They recorded this one and released an album around it fill with mistakes and foul ups. It’s a totally awesome album
Thanks , that’s very cool. I knew I was sorta close. It’s been a min since I thought about it. I’m an old SF Bay Area dude. Use to watch Troy play drum with Eric Martin in their band 415 way back in the day out here. Have a great week ahead.
Great reaction. Great song! All the songs on this album were acoustic (I think) except for this part on this song!! Guitarist Frank Hannon is awesome!! Keep up the great work!
They will be playing down here at the Georgia national fair in Perry Georgia October 10 this Tuesday I wish I could go but I got to work I just delivered a load of produce down here at the Georgia national fair and getting ready to leave as we speak
Five Man Acoustical Jam is one of the greatest shows ever!!! IMHO it's what really kicked off the whole Unplugged thing 🤘

I think Frank Hannon is a very underrated Lead and Acoustic Guitarist... As well as the other musicians in Tesla .
I've seen Tesla 16 times over the years. They are kind hearted real peoples just like the rest of us. Always taking time for their fans.
Was at this show at the Trocadero in Philly.......... An amazing night no doubt
I've seen Tesla 3 times since the debuted in the mid- eighties and man they do not disappoint! Fantastic live!🤟🤟👍👍
What a great rendition of that song. Cudos to whoever sent that in
Growing up in the 80s and 90s was amazing! Seeing all of these bands live in their prime was a blessing! Words can't describe Tesla live.
some of the guitar work in the beginning is from Heart's "Crazy on You". Give that a listen if you haven't already.
Love this song. I remember my high school crush singing this song to me as a teenager. Brings back memories, thank you.
Great band and great group of guys. Still Rockin today just as bad ass as ever.
Little sampling from Nancy Wilson, Crazy on You. So cool Frank
I saw these guys this summer for the 12th time since 1987. They are always great.

Tesla is still touring, always amazing, so many great songs!!!
This kicked off the "MTV unplugged era"!! Back when MTV was actually about music

Close...it's the Trocadero...awesome venue...I've seen many killer shows there over the years.

The most ICONIC unplugged
My favorite band from that era. Not a glam or hair band, just a good ol rock and roll band. Been listening to them for over 30 years.
Tesla always Kicked Ass!!!
At 4:50, that is the 5:26 Heart song 5:42 “Crazy on You” intro.
The movie “Rockstar” starring Mark Wahlberg and Jennifer Aniston used Jeff Keith’s voice in the songs. That’s how phenomenal Jeff’s voice is.
Recorded at the legendary Trocadero Theatre on Arch Street in Philly...I've seen many awesome shows there and its still kickin'...!!! 😎🎸🎶
Great reaction. Great song! All the songs on this album were acoustic (I think) except for this part on this song!! Guitarist Frank Hannon is awesome!! Keep up the great work!
My coolest teacher used to take me and a couple brothers surfing every morning before school started.🤙🤙🏄♂️ Mr. Scott!!
My young 20 something ass didn't think Tesla was cool enough.....I was fucking wrong, I crank this song whenever I hear it.
Saludos desde Colombia . Una tremenda Banda . Muy escuchada por nosotros .
Tesla were always a good live band..and Frank Hannon was one of the best guitarists on the scene back then
Still is

Easily one of the greatest power ballads of all time.
The best live band I've ever seen.
To have a Good Time and still Tour, and get Paid is Rock And Roll!!!!!
Filmed at the Trocadero Theatre. :)

Incredible song from an amazing band.
