- A lyrical number from Dorothy - not a rarity as such, but this track was omitted from the President CD rerelease of the 1979 Dominion concert - however, President did include more of Dorothys asides to the audience and two extra numbers not included on the vinyl: a duet of "I Remember It Well" and the great song recorded by practically every MoR artist working in the seventies, "Feelings".
The song had previously been a hit record for the McGuire Sisters in the US (#11) and Joan Regan, a contemporary of Dorothy Squires, in the UK (#9).
Dorothy was a wonderful larger than life character. She was an amazing concert performer, I saw her perform on many occasions. She had the ability to have you laughing one minute and crying the next. She sent herself up mercilessly. She gave her fans time and never failed to sign autographs. For my money she was an all time great. We will not see the likes of Dorothy again. I recommend any of her live recordings as testament to her talent.
Amen
The date of this concert was December 8th, 1979.
Classic and beautiful recording. I CANNOT IMAGINE WHY IT WAS OMMITTED FROM THE CD. i was at the London Dominion that night and what a night. I met Dorothy arriving for the afternoon rehearsal and was hugged! Not only did she give a fantastic performance for the `We Clowns` LP which was not released until 1984 but the second half was a recording of her musical! `Old Rowley` concluding with the hits medley, so listeners have no idea Dorothy is referring to more than what they can hear.
this remains of of my favourite Dorothy Squires recordings
Wonderful so emotional There was only one Dot.
The original was by Joan Regan
Joan Regan was the only British singer that Dot had a good word for!
@@tomkent4656 And Joan said wonderful things about Dot, and I loved them both.
