hey! i was wondering if you could make a video explaining IB? i’m confused about what subjects you’re taking, how many, whether there are exams/coursework etc, and you could talk about whether you like it/recommend it or not too, i’m doing A-levels and it’s pretty different! love from england xx
I’ll be going into IB this year (so equivalent like Y1 of a levels). I agree, I would like to see what subjects she chose and maybe provide some tips.
To try to help with your confusion: IB is basically 6 subjects (some are fixed, e.g. you have to do maths) + a 4000 word research essay + TOK (similar to philosophy and you will need to do a presentation and write an essay). For the 6 subjects you are graded internally (e.g. for languages you will need to do a speaking test grades by your teacher and moderated by the IB) + externally (final exams you sit at the end of the 2 years). Similar to A levels, ones IB grades are mostly dependent on those external exams you sit (so it would be something like 20% of your grade is based on those internal assessment and 80% on those external exams - just as an example). I don’t want to make the IB look more difficult than A-levels because they are the same difficulty in terms of content for subjects and IB is viewed as equally difficult with A levels for universities in the U.K. but I know that it is considered collage level in the US. Hope this helps (oh and you also have to do CAS but that’s just shows that you have a life outside of IB).
