Thank you for the kind way you spoke of Catholics. As a Catholic viewer, when you started I was expecting a rebuke and saddened - but it was kind! Praise God for every believer who speaks of the Family with charity.
@@HowtoFaithALife oh, wow, I didn’t know that about you, Faith. I am in the same boat. Do you have a video of your testimony? I came to faith through attending a Christian school because the local Catholic school had a huge waiting list. It was there that I heard of the Gospel the first time and came to faith. I feel like we have so much in common! You’re such an encouragement to MY faith! 💖😂
I grew up in the Catholic Church as well. I am so very thankful for my foundation of faith. While I have chosen not to continue in the Catholic Church, it is something that causes me to cringe when addressed in the pulpit, if not handled with love and hope for all who seek Jesus.
I was 8 years old when I got saved, and evangelizing the priests at my school the next day. Catholicism is false religion. They persecute Christians even now and we're supposed to defend this system? Been a Christian 40 years, find Christ in the pages of scripture Nd leave the catholic church.
Just yesterday, after feeling convicted to do so for quite a while, I threw all of my fantasy novels in the trash. I was convicted due to the sexual content, magic, themes of reliance on self alone, talk of false gods, etc.. and today this video pops up on my homepage. The Lord always provides! Thank you, Faith!!!
I’m going through cancer and I purchased Christian shirts just for treatment days. I meant for them to encourage others but they’ve helped me so much. I’ve learned that so many of the nurses are Christians and I’ve had more than one pray for or with me. Did I mention I’m in treatment at the NIH, a government facility? Not at all what we expected.
Praise God for Christian nurses! I wish I was more outgoing in my faith when I worked bedside. I would pray in my mind for my patients but never with them. And I pray for you- for the Lord to give you strength and to provide for you in all the ways you need through treatment and through your life. And I pray that the Lord heals you from this horrible ailment. Blessings to you sister ❤
You truly represent a follower of Christ wonderfully! I’ve been seeing other Christian RUclipsrs that are very judgmental and speak harshly and it’s increasingly getting worse to the point I can’t watch their stuff anymore. You are really a resource I can rely on, thank you!
I know, right? I used to really enjoy Christian content, and then people started to get defensive and judgmental. Thank you, Faith for being positive, happy, & passing on your ideas to help us study our Bibles better.
I just wanted to thank you for a book recommendation you gave a long time ago, How to Read the Bible for all its worth. I read it, and then I taught it at our church in once a month sessions, with the DVD that they put out. Our group has gotten so much from learning how to apply the tools in that book to study. It is hard to read, but I feel like it helped me a system of reading the Bible where I get so much more out of my study.
I’ve read The Search for Significance and, and a Licensed Professional Counselor, use the book and accompanying workbook with some of my clients! Great recommendation!
Thank you for recommending The Search for Significance. My friend and I are working through this book together, 3,000 miles apart, and are absolutely loving it. It is so, so good. It is absolutely changing my life!
Missional Motherhood is SO good!! I randomly found it as an audio book on Spotify and decided to give it a try. I’m so glad I did - it changed the way I love my family!
I have read The search for Significance. I agree that it has hugely impacted my life as a Christian. There is a favorite chapter I read that is highlighted a lot! Very impactful!
As a Catholic viewer, I love that you are open-minded and kind to other denominations. I'd be interested in knowing your opinion on Walking With God by Tim Gray and Jeff Cavins AND Momnipotence by Danielle Bean. Love your channel! You helped kick start my journey in improving my relationship with God and diving deeper in the word. ❤
Oh, how I appreciated Walking with God! I used it along with Ascension’s 4 books to accompany The Bible in a Year with Fr. Mike (my second year going through the podcast 😅) and it added that much more depth- lovely!

The search for Significance is an awesome book...so far! I found it at goodwill and it's the best $4 I've ever spent! I was also wondering how I'd never heard anyone talking about it! Soooo good!
It took me over a month to read The Cost of Discipleship because I could only absorb about 2 paragraphs per reading! Usually, I can easily get through a book and retain the information. This is a great recommendation!
My pastor lent me the St.Augustine Confessions. I am only on page 19 and am ordering it. But your video was perfect timing. I am going to order Alan Parr’s misled as well as the valley vision the devotion book you mentioned thank you Faith for your videos.
@BelieverinChristAlways I finished reading Allen Parr's book "Misled"... shortly after it came out... and I loved it.. I trust by now it has blessed your life as it has blessed mine.... I would definitely recommend it to help anyone... who is Not sure what to believe.. or which religion to be a part of... I went thru some of the same experiences Allen did in various churches over the years.. it was good to see that I was Not alone..
One of my buddies gifted me The Search for Significance recently and I can't wait to read it. She was like "I found this in my stash and thought you might like to read it since Faith recommended it in one of her recent videos". Girl you have no idea how quick I said "Give me that. Now." When she mentioned you.
Oh, wow! Twenty years ago, when I was in a very rigid recovery program in Houston, I had to write out full chapters from Search for Significance for "homework" (along with chapters from the AA book). I hated it at the time but think back to it often.
Almost all of those are one I have read and would recommend! And, yes, I have read Search for Significance. I'm interested in the Koepic (spelling?) book. Thanks for your video.
I own RAGAMUFFIN GOSPEL - absolutely awesome and life-changing! Another great book by Manning is RUTHLESS TRUST. Oh, yes, and THE RELENTLESS TENDERNESS OF JESUS! This author has a beautiful soul and loves his Creator Redeemer!
LOVE LOVE LOVE BOTH Ragamuffin Gospel and Search for Significance!!! Brennan Manning was a compatriot of Rich Mullins and God still brings to mind Ragamuffin and lyrics from Rich and I reread Search with my husband about once every 10 or so years. Awesome list!! Will be adding two to my personal library.
I'm excited I only knew two of these books 😁 I have the Search for Significance but haven't read it. It definitely sounds like something I should read. Thank you ❤
Great recommendations! Once I get through the 12 books, I already have in line to read. I will most definitely check some of these out. Thank you. 🌟⭐️✨
Thank you so much for your book recommendations! I have read Brennan Manning's book Ragamuffin Gospel and got so much from it a number of years ago. Also, I went through Search for Significance many, many years ago with a Christian therapist I was seeing at the time. It changed my life in that it made me realize that I did have self worth imputed to me through Christ's death on the cross. I had been a Christian for years, but had struggled with self worth and an eating disorder, and this book was so helpful. I probably should read it again! Thank you, Faith, for all that you share with us! ❤
Search for significance is a very good solid book!!! Love that you had some deep and solid books . I have grown in my faith and stood stronger in my faith from many of them .Keller is one of my super go to books.
I don’t know how you find time to be a wife and a mother, and a pastor’s wife at that, plus have a RUclips channel and do Bible studies and still have time for other reading
Yes, we have the search for significance! My husband read it, and we have given away several copies. Thanks for your recommendations. I will try to start reading some of them. I even have the ragamuffin gospel cause I loved Rich Mullins but I don't think I ever finished it. TFS❤
This came just in time! My first kindle will be delivered today! How do you decide which books you’ll read on kindle and which ones you’ll buy a physical copy of?
Congrats on the Kindle purchase. I have had mine for years and LOVE it. I do this: If it is a reference type of book like a concordance, or something with a lot of maps and pictures, or something you are going to be flipping back and forth in, I get the actual book. If it is just a straightforward book, not heavy on maps and pictures and such….I download it to my Kindle. And there are a few rare books that I love so much, I have them in both formats. I hope this helps you narrow it down a little. Happy reading!! 🙂
Don't forget that you can still highlight on most kindles and on some of the fancier ones I think you can even takes notes! (If that is something that might hold you back from buying on the kindle) If I can't borrow a book from the Libby library on my kindle, then I will usually buy a hard copy. I figure that if I'm spending money anyway, I want the physical book in my hand!
The God You May Not Know by David Jeremiah Very simple, yet profound Scriptural revelation on the Person, Power, Provision, Attributes, (etc.) of the One true and living God! I was born again on October 26, 1982. I have been thoroughly discipled by some God-gifted local pastor/teachers over the years, with the addition of Chuck Swindoll. John MacArthur. RC Sproul. Adrian Rogers. David Jeremiah. David Hocking...and others... This book is a very recent read and a great stabilizer to my mind and faith in these perilous times
Do you know that being born again is a term that only applies to the nation Israel? Please visit TruthTimeRadio here on RUclips, so edifying. Grace and Peace ❤️❤️
The only Christian book that still blows my mind to this day, even after having read it a couple of times, is the Bible.❤😊 I am being totally serious here: it is mind bending, especially this Elijah-man. Wow, don't want to get anywhere close to him just in case!...😂😅
I just listened to your talk on politicizing the Gospel. Thank you, thank you for making this video. I have been teaching Bible studies for over 25 years. Every four years I get questioned about who I am voting for. Well this campaign cycle has become a huge topic of contention, because of Christians and many, many of my dearest friends politicizing the Gospel. It breaks my heart to hear the hatred they have for anyone not having the same belief’s they have. You did an amazing job explaining what we as Jesus followers should be focused on. I actually feel Christians in America are living like the Jews did, thinking they’re the chosen people and their Messiah has come to rescue them from…. High gas prices, inflation, people they don’t like coming across the border, and many other things that are definitely not heaven focused. I pray for my brother’s and sister’s who say they are followers to actually act and do what Jesus said to do. Love on another as I have loved you, by this they will know you’re my disciple. John 13:34-35
I HAVE AN 11yr old BOY AT HOME THAT LOVES WHEN I READ THE BIBLE TO HIM (though I’m still learning to read the Bible and how to explain to him some verses), ARE THERE ANY CHAPTER BOOKS YOU RECOMMEND FOR CHILDREN WITH FAITH?
“Mourning the loss of freedom”. You just gave me words for how I am feeling in this season of life as a first time stay at home mom. I will DEFINITELY be grabbing that book and devouring it! Thank you so much for sharing! This gives me hope for joy!
Dietrich Bonhoeffer- The Cost of Discipleship- changed my life! I have said to everyone I meet, it is a must read for Christians everywhere!! Get it now, read it slow and have colored pens and highlighters ready!!
I used to work at Covenant College in their Admissions Department! And, even though I grew up in Atlanta and moved to Chattanooga later in my life, I ironically attended a middle school youth camp at Covenant College when I was 12-years-old, which is where I became a Christian! I didn't know you went there, Faith! I completely agree with you; I cannot advocate Covenant College enough...such an incredible Gospel centered, Scripture-based, discipleship-driven education for its students 🥰
Thank you for sharing I’m looking forward to reading a few books you’ve mentioned also I love the tumbler you have & can’t find it on the page link. Please help. Thanks
I read You’re Only Human this year and it’s one of my favorite reads of the year! So good! Thanks for all these recommendations! If you haven’t read it, I recommend Garden City by John Mark Comer! P.S. I have also read and loved The Search for Significance! You’re not alone!
I’m reading Search for Significance for Biblical Counseling! And two other people I know have read it bc it’s helped me so much!! The title says every Christian should read it and I affirm that!!
I have the Search for Significance, but I still need to read it. Allen Parr recommended it a while back, and I grabbed it. I'm excited to dive into it now! I love Bonhoeffer's The Cost of Discipleship. Such an great & impactful list of books!
In terms of Christian living books, I love "Celebration of Discipline", by Richard Foster, "The Table Experience", by Devi Titus, and "The Pursuit of God", by Tozer.
Oh my gosh I think my TBR is the size of a house!!! 😂 Thanks for your recommendations!! Also I really hope Kerusso is available for UK/my size 'cause my ADHD/Autism is incredibly excited (esp the cup oh my gosh love the whole 3D thing eeeekkk!!!) about it!!! Lol 😂
Catholic here! Ragamuffin Gospel is so good. It may be true that a lot of older adults who grew up in the church are more liturgical in worship. I will say, however, that a lot of younger adult Catholics who either grew up in the church and came back or came into it in adulthood, are leaning more toward the emotiveness and vulnerability that you mentioned.
@HowtoFaithALife Catholics have all sorts of prayers some r novenas and some are traditional or just talking to God through prayers.. I read a lot of Matthew Kelly
One of the books that really affected my life and beliefs, especially in the areas of social justice and peace was, Jesus and Nonviolence: A Third Way by Walter Wink. It is a very short book at only 128 pages, but he is the only one I have ever heard who really explains what the verses in Matthew 5 and Luke 6 mean (about turning the other cheek, etc.). It is a pretty heavy read, but very informative.
Love your channel! “He Loves Me” by Wayne Jacobsen is another great book for seeing ourselves, value, and great worth to Jesus. If you haven’t read it - it’s dynamite.
Yes, I've read the Search for Significance. Not only have I read it, but my late husband studied it during intensive counseling with a Christian counselor. From Amazon: "Billy Graham said that it was a book that 'should be read by every Christian'.'"
I read the book you recommended from, I think your old professor - You’re Only Human (Kapic). Loved it! Another couple books I’ve recently read are The Gospel Comes with a House Key (Butterfield) and Making Sense of God (Keller). Those were great too!
Great video! I'd add Evidence That Demands A Verdict by Josh and Sean Mcdowell. Not at all an easy read but seriously thorough especially if struggling with doubts
I went through the youth edition of Search for Significance in 7th grade. It was part of the health curriculum at a private school I attended. That was 30+ years ago. Unfortunately I don't remember much about it.
Evangelicals love Bonhoeffer. I love the cost of discipleship. In German it’s just called “Discipleship”. Implying the internet and implicit costliness of being a disciple. It did indeed cost him his life.
Are you kidding me?? I literally bought the ragamuffin gospel this morning based on a friend's recommendation! God's really been giving me so many winks and signs, so I think I'm doing something right! 🙏 God bless!!
All the top 10 books on my list are all written buy CS Lewis. then Oswald chambers, then brother Lawrence's practicing the presence of god (I saw something that the theology of this was off, but I didn't see it and read it several times and die trick bonhoffer
Anything from Mrs. Debi Pryde. Absolute best Biblical Counselor, Bible based mental health books, no fluff, work books, aplicable spiritual growth. Literally anything from Mrs. Pryde. Start with secrets of a happy heart, secrets of a happy marriage, Why am I So Angry, Why Me Lord. Just an all around blessing for every Bible believing Christian. Will change your life.
Hi! I just wanted to offer up my recommendation. :) (Humbly, lol) It's: No Perfect People Allowed by John Burke If you've never read this, I highly recommend. :) It is a wonderful book that really resonated with me. Big hugs!
Bonhoeffer ... The call of Jesus is unto discipleship...which is His call unto salvation...A powerful revealing the author's famous quotes: 1. "When God calls a man, He bids Him come and die!" 2. "Cheap grace"
If you want to know everything about the life of the holy mother Mary, please read the book The Mystical City of God. Written by the venerable Maria of Agreda in order of the holy mother Mary herself. Everything from just before her immaculate conception till her assumption is there.
@@michelleadams5609 Please read this book and induct your own investigation. You will find out that she was married to saint Joseph before she left the temple which she entered at the age of 3. Our God , our Lord Jesus is without sin . He would never be in contact with a sinner otherwise he could not be without sin. She is sinless. The Son and the mother are sinless and holy. No sinner can " produce" a sinless human. You will know the tree by its fruit.
@@michelleadams5609 According to María de Ágreda, the book was to a considerable extent dictated to her by the Blessed Virgin Mary and regarded the life of the Virgin Mary and the divine plan for creation and the salvation of souls. The work alternates between descriptions of the Trinity, the Virgin Mary's life, and the spiritual guidance she provides to the author, by whom her words were reproduced for the spiritual benefit and growth of the reader. The book describes at length the various virtues, and how the reader should live in order to see them reflected in their own life, with the Virgin Mary as their model for sanctity. The work has the Imprimatur of several Popes and Bishops and appeals primarily to those who believe in private revelation and the sanctity of Mary. Non-Catholics generally do not accept the teaching of the Catholic Church and are consequently skeptical of works of this nature. In 1673, María de Ágreda was declared venerable soon after her death, but the process of her beatification has yet to be completed. Several Pope's are in favour of this work. After this reading your faith will never be the same. Hail Mary most pure pray for us 🙏
@@michelleadams5609María de Ágreda's best known single work is the Mystical City of God (Spanish: Mistica Ciudad de Dios, Vida de la Virgen María), consisting of eight books (six volumes). This related her revelations about the terrestrial and heavenly life, reportedly received directly from the Blessed Virgin Mary. The books include information about the relationship of the 'Blessed Virgin' with the Triune God, as well as the doings and Mysteries performed by Jesus. The narrative contains extensive details and covers the New Testament time line. It also relates advice given by the Holy Mother on how to acquire true sanctity.[11]

Please visit TruthTimeRadio here on RUclips, so edifying. Grace and Peace ❤️❤️
I read the Search for Significance about 20 years ago and often use it in counseling 😊
I felt that way about Dayspring stuff😍 I'll look into kerrusso!
The only Christian book that still blows my mind to this day, even after having read it a couple of times, is the Bible.❤😊 I am being totally serious here: it is mind bending, especially this Elijah-man. Wow, don't want to get anywhere close to him just in case!...😂😅
I read the Search for Significance many years ago and it was life changing for me too!!!!
Great book recs. Will be checking these out. I think I have the Search for Significance. Found it at a book sale.
I just placed my amazon order for 5 of these books! Thank you for the recommendations!
Woah! 🤯 WOHOOO! 👏🏼
O wow I’m reading the cost of discipleship
The first 56 pages were rough for me to get through due to the verbiage but after that it’s really good
Try ..The transforming power of prayer, by James Houston. I loved all your suggestions and have been wanting the valley of vision.
“Mourning the loss of freedom”. You just gave me words for how I am feeling in this season of life as a first time stay at home mom. I will DEFINITELY be grabbing that book and devouring it! Thank you so much for sharing! This gives me hope for joy!
🥹 I get it. All too well. EVERYTHING is a season in motherhood. I am cheering you on, momma!

Dietrich Bonhoeffer- The Cost of Discipleship- changed my life! I have said to everyone I meet, it is a must read for Christians everywhere!! Get it now, read it slow and have colored pens and highlighters ready!!
Agree ❤
I used to work at Covenant College in their Admissions Department! And, even though I grew up in Atlanta and moved to Chattanooga later in my life, I ironically attended a middle school youth camp at Covenant College when I was 12-years-old, which is where I became a Christian! I didn't know you went there, Faith! I completely agree with you; I cannot advocate Covenant College enough...such an incredible Gospel centered, Scripture-based, discipleship-driven education for its students 🥰
No way! How cool!
I looked and found I actually own Search for Significance, although I have not read it. I will bump it up my TBR and try to read it soon.
Thank you for sharing I’m looking forward to reading a few books you’ve mentioned also I love the tumbler you have & can’t find it on the page link. Please help. Thanks
No AW Tozer? No Jerry Bridges? Pray you look into them as they are a must for any Christian’s library.
Make a list and share!
I’m pretty sure Robert McGee is solid!
I see the one book, "The Ragamuffin Gospel", has a forward by Michael W. Smith. I saw him in concert once.
I read the search for significance years ago and it was great
I have the Search for Significance, but I still need to read it.
I read the search for significance years ago, great book!
Lol 😂
Yessss! Wohooo! It’s such a cute cup!
My tbr/books to buy is currently at 600 & counting. 😳😳
Another book on prayer is “this is how we pray” by Adam dressler. And it has greatly helped and guided me through prayer
One Christian book that I've read recently is Former Pharisee and it's been eye opening.
Hands down, go read Studies on the Sermon on the Mount by Martyn Lloyd Jones. That's the book that transformed my Christian walk.
Haven't read it but my father in law ALWAYS quotes Martin Lloyd Jones so this made me smile :)
Thank you!!!! Another great video!!! ❤
God as He longs for You to See Him -- love that book! I've actually bought this book 4-5 times because I keep giving it away! 💛😊
It's so good!
Anything by Don K Preston or Brandon Peterson
Sealed by the King is AMAZING!!!
I read the book you recommended from, I think your old professor - You’re Only Human (Kapic). Loved it! Another couple books I’ve recently read are The Gospel Comes with a House Key (Butterfield) and Making Sense of God (Keller). Those were great too!
Yay! Yes yes yes!
Try reading “The Doulos Letters” by Jim Mackey
There’s 3 volumes
Im reading vol 2, it’s a short word study /devo type read but its super good so far
Great video! I'd add Evidence That Demands A Verdict by Josh and Sean Mcdowell. Not at all an easy read but seriously thorough especially if struggling with doubts
I have MANY Bible verses shirts. ❤️ It's a great way to spread the Word in a simpler/quieter way.
Love that!
I went through the youth edition of Search for Significance in 7th grade. It was part of the health curriculum at a private school I attended. That was 30+ years ago. Unfortunately I don't remember much about it.
Scrolling, scrolling, scrolling, skrrrrtttt! Clicked on this video so fast! 😆
😂😂😂😂🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼
Knowing God by JI Packer. Anything my JC Ryle. I'm currently loving Practical Religion. Love valley of vision.
Yes Search for Significance is a classic. Basically replacing the lies we believe with Scripture and biblical thought.
Ragamuffin is an amazing book! Loved it! Life changing!
Happy dance finding some of these on kindle unlimited!!
All the top 10 books on my list are all written buy CS Lewis. then Oswald chambers, then brother Lawrence's practicing the presence of god (I saw something that the theology of this was off, but I didn't see it and read it several times and die trick bonhoffer
Great picks! Do you have a book you recommend on fasting?
I’d recommend “A Hunger for God: Desiring God Through Fasting and Prayer” by John Piper.
Big hugs!
I read it years ago. Great book.
Allen Parr....so good!! Love that book and Allen!
I think I want to buy that marriage book
Bonhoeffer ... The call of Jesus is unto discipleship...which is His call unto salvation...A powerful revealing the author's famous quotes:
1. "When God calls a man, He bids Him come and die!"
2. "Cheap grace"
I highly recommend Parenting by Paul David Tripp for parents at any stage 👍
Great books 😊
If you want to know everything about the life of the holy mother Mary, please read the book The Mystical City of God. Written by the venerable Maria of Agreda in order of the holy mother Mary herself. Everything from just before her immaculate conception till her assumption is there.
Mary was a sinner saved by grace and used of God. That's a terrible heresy that diminishes the importance and deity of Christ.
I wish you would do bible studies for free like Heart dive with Kanoe Gibson, ( she is awesome by the way). I bet you are good too.😊
