Sorry if I missed you mentioning this but the PLH-5K head will also work and it's really the ideal mix of lumens/candela/tone for a pistol light you'll be using within 15yrds. That said, I've had 2 of these and sold them both because the switches get loose and start failing after 500rds on a pistol. I am waiting (like everyone else) for the Cloud EPL pistol light but in the meantime the Holosun PID has become a favorite. Rechargeable 18350 battery, 60min runtime, 1000 lumens and 23,000 candela. Great for HD gun.

    • @miketaylorID1

Been meaning to grab a copy of the Holosun PID to see what they have come up with. Holosun seems to have figured out the formula - reliability v features v cost - for optics. Would expect the same from them re. a weapon light. with that in mind - If you’re a Sig 365 guy check out the Fenix GL06 purpose built to mate up with the 365 and indestructible kinda a sleeper but well worth a look! cheers

I get it, I do. For pistol lights though the TLR1HL can do up close with a wide spill and can see out to 100-110. If I need my pistol to handle situations that far it can but I prefer the wider spill and brightness of the TLR1HL personally.

I already know this statement will be controversial. I would like to request a review of the some of the highest rated knockoffs that come from places like Amazon. Yes I know There's A lot of bots in review sections on certain products on places like Amazon but I've honestly found great products in this market. Most everything auxiliary on a firearm is made of or consist mostly of overseas parts anyway and it's damn near unavoidable with anything these days. Of course I'd prefer American made but there's literally almost nothing anyone in America can touch that doesn't have foreign parts or non American manufacturing. Most American manufacturers sold us out decades ago!

Another lightsabre for the end of your gun....meh make them FIT THE GUN as in tot past the muzzle, at least for carry guns.

    • @scottanddebranelson8419

a wml that extends past the muzzle will let you actually touch a target and fire without taking the weapon out of battery which will then let you fire follow up shots without the need for corrective action. which means they are great for pistols because the likely hood of cqb is much higher. in the home or on your property you may be more likely to carry a long gun but when out and about you will have a pistol and threats can be close on you real quick like cause bad guys ambush you when THEY want not when you want. so you may not get that blaster out to drop that threat until he's touching you. just something to think about. have a good day.

Can’t get high candela with a short light. The shape of the reflector for a tight throw vs spill requires depth. A light that fits flush has no room for that with current battery technologies.
You are also limited by how much power can he delivered in compact batteries, which determines how much power can be put into a diode. The TLR7A and Sig Foxtrots are the best options in the size class you seek.
They will by nature be more flood than throw. The TLR9 vs a TLR1 or an X300 is another good example. TLR9 is a stretched 7, 2 batteries, twice the lumen and candela, same shallow reflector - its a lot of flood power but not great for throw.
The TLR1HL reflector is not great for throw either, but it takes the same 1000 lumen diode the TLR9 has and concentrates the beam to give 20,000 candela vs the 10,000 of the TLR9.
Given another 5 or 10 years of battery advancements and more efficient LEP heads maybe they can build what you seek.

As for me, I am a Stream Light man all the way. There great lights for the money. There's NO Flash Light no matter where it's made worth $300.00 + dollars IMO. Sure Fire are WAY over priced. I have a number of Stream Lights on handguns and rifles. I got one of the Stream Light knock offs [Night Stick]and it no where close to the Stream Light. Now days to be a Super Cool you MUST have a massive Flash Light on any gun. There's no reason to carry a gun with a Light for day to day uses. I have Lights for night use only. I am not a Super Cool that needs a light on my carry gun. I made it this long without being one of the Super Cool, Band Wagon jump on board person that does the Monkey see Monkey must do because it's cool.

Most here on YT just do it because they seen it here and it's COOL because there's very few gun review without a light now days. I haven't seen any of them using their guns at night with the light it's there for show and a COOL guy factor. Need a light, carry a light all day everyday. Just because it's not for me doesn't mean some may need it.

A light on a carry gun (daytime carrying) is counterproductive. Bigger holster, bulkier firearm etc. Now if you're out at night alot, obviously a light makes sense

    • @Murphy82nd
      @Murphy82nd Год назад +2

@@arlissyoung8899maybe you haven’t seen them use it in video because access to low light or no light ranges is a lot harder than daylight ranges and not everyone has a camera that will capture low light or no light shooting, at least capture it well.
As a comparison, I see a lot of people filming videos about firearms for defensive uses, and yet they don’t post videos of them shooting people. Just because someone doesn’t have video evidence of a need or desire for something doesn’t mean that need or desire is made up.

if you come home in the daytime and your door is open and you have a high candela light you would be able to illuminate the immediate interior just beyond the door with out having to actually walk into the room. or if you are deeper in your home and wanna check a very dark room like a walk in closet same thing, high candela will break the photonic barrier and reach into a dark area from a lit area.

My local club does a no light idpa stage the, surefire x300a I use seems like the minimum I’d want and targets usually range from 5-15 yards inside. I watch guys use lights rated at 500 lumens and those lights are dim. Seems bright until you need it then it seems dim. I know you said candela but I just wanted to put my two cents in since I have some experience with lights in very low light shooting.

@@maximummarklee not arguing just asking. opposite of what is true? and lumens is for illuminating the dark candella is used to penetrate a lighted area into a dark area. as in trying to see inside a dark room from outside in the daytime. or from a well lit room into like a walk in closet. at least that's how it was explained to me and millions of others by john over on active self protection. so you want the higer the better for both. he says a flashlight is too powerful only if it has recoil or starts fires lol. but yeah there are tons of bwc footage to prove the point.
