What do I use if I don’t have this?
Why only once a week?
We used to to it in the military. Great excercise bro!
How did you guys program it
@@ajithsidhu7183 bottle full of sand, a broken broomstick and rope
@@neevshriker9458 not that i meant programme like 5sets x10 reps
Small pipe works well and different. I'm a plumber and I do that basically 8 hours a day. Shake a plumbers hand
Would it be good if we did twice a week or so? Once with a thinner pipe and the other day with a thick pipe?
I used to them everyday. My grip strength improved dramatically
@Whisp
This is what I do.
You'll need:
-1 thick wooden dowel (about 2 1/2 inch diameter and 2 feet long)
-1 sturdy rope such as nylon (1 meter should do)
-1 snap hook/carabiner
Process:
Cut your chosen dowel to about 2 feet and drill a hole through the top centre big enough for the rope.
Feed the rope through the hole and tie an overhand knot so it can't pull through.
Cut the desired rope length and tie your snap hook to the end (I suggest tying an overhand knot in the rope, then looping it through the hook and back around the rope; like the start of tying a shoe).
You should be able to purchase all that at your local hardware store for afew bucks and they may be able to cut and drill it for you. I hope this helps.
Finally a perfect loop
It is Interesting, Isnt It...
Their Editing that Is.
Had a Similar Thought, Well Done.
Small correction it’s not a grip exercise, it’s a wrist exercise 😀 grip exercises are extremely important but won’t blow your arms up but may have more practical uses in fitness and general.
What’s a grip exercise
@@Daniel-ld7xs Holding a barbell until it falls out of your hands? Hanging on the pull up bar until you can't hold anymore? Squeezing grippers? There is no wrist motion in those exercises, that's why they are "grip exercises", they work your grip strength, but for the forearms they suck ass...
It’s also grip too though since your holding it
@@Dr5Emthis exercise uses light weight giving minimal stimulation to challenge your grip
@@aviwinegarten3859 your right it might not be a strengthening exercise; however it would fall under a muscular endurance exercise. Though yes, depending on the amount of weight added it could be minimal stimulus for grip strength.
the fact they relied on him so much really tells you how great he really was.
Lmao 😂
Emoji usage level 9001
Great advice. Even better editing skills 😏!
You can also use on end of a barbell that’s on a rack. I loop a band around the barbell and a kettlebell or dumbbell.
Yes but do both because they have their own benefits. Barbell only focus is forearms. This way youre working grip and other supporting muscles
@@Lildoucheboy I think they do the same thing. The one suggested is easier to set up imo
Used these in boxing. Absolute killer
Great videos , keep going!
I like the DIY idea of this, I usually use the standard barbell at the gym
I remember when the trainer at my gym recommend this because I had weak wrists, the type that hurts if you get off the ground with your hands help, and after doing this regularly first just the rope without the weight and later adding small weights, it really helped
For anyone without this equipment there is a similar alternative
Bar hangs
Simply hang on a bar for as long as you can
I used to do this when I played hockey as a kid. Just cut the end off of an old stick and tie a weight to it with a lace for skates. Made my wrist shot way better.
Using a 45lb barbell works pretty well. 3 sets of 30-45 seconds in both directions will absolutely blast the forearms.
I do it with an Olympic bench bar. I roll it just like he is, and I also do wrist curls by extending arms all the way down with the bar in front of me in am overhand grip, while rolling my palms upwards. It's a great workout
I just got some hand grippers yesterday for immense grip strength
Do it 4 days a week for results. Forearms need serious work.
Awesome! Thanks 👍

Fun fact, you get the best forearm pump when you clean the barrel of an 120mm mortar. Shits 2m long and you need to push down in a rotary motion so you hit all the spots.
But yee that little bar+string is probably easier then a 3+ year contract
I keep hearing to do grip exercises only once a week.....why???
Did this for hockey it was pretty good
How do we programe it ?
🤦♂️
End of your pull day/Back day
We used to do that in Karate training 💪🏻
You look like a marathon runner bro
He is a weightlifter bro 🤣🤣🤣 and a good one at that
I think your perception is skewed cuz he looks small next to Dane
Should you have your arms straight out in front of you though?
Instructions unclear, now my arms have been destroyed
I do this every night with a “ big pole” I just do mine lying down in bed
Same but my pipe barely fits in my bed
@@Messup7654 you mean barely fits in your hand ?
@@ripwheeler2056 nah I meant bed😏
@@Messup7654 lol
You can do the same thing with just a simple towel.
i do this everyday 5kg is a fukn killer
🙌🏼
Lmao 🤣 the best every lad in high-school had a make shift one in their basement 💀 kids don't know the old struggle of working out as a teen
Think you should considerate on your leg day instead of your 4 arms
Why is your forearm smll then?
I have to do it at baseball but we have to hold are arms straight up but the pipe isn’t at thiccccc and we are in 12u so the weight isn’t as heavy
Heavy Kettlebell swings will not only accomplish the same ends but improve your overall strength and conditioning
Rolling my pipe has made one arm bigger that the other though.
Just switch hands and they will be evenly jacked
once a week? I do it everyday :o
That’s very…thhhhhhhhhiiic
Just once a week? Sounds strange to me lol
Go to workkkkkk!!!😂
Once a week is not enough
Having a thick veiny pipe in my hands always feels great. Aye yoooo! Bing bong!
A “FORM” roller?? 😂 🤦♂️
Very old fashioned and not used nowadays because it tears up your ligaments.
Come again? I've been using this for years, now with 25 kg weight, and never experienced any problems from it...
@@swansong5960 some people smoke and live till there 100....go figure.
@@thomasowens5824
Im really looking for a why? Not some backhanded comment. Does it cause impingement? Where? Would a neutral grip help? Ect.
@@swansong5960 ok. Its because unlike a bicep curl which is a natural movement, this rolling motion isnt, and can cause tears to the flexor connective tissue particularly when weight is heavy. If the bar was supported at each end, say with a flat stand each end or a bench and your gripping and turning thats a better movement, how about wrist curls over the side of a bench ? Also a good exercise. Have a good day bud, I am off to the gym.
@@thomasowens5824
Interesting. So what I think youre saying is it's the instability of the movement thats dangerous and that erratic movement can cause stress on your flexors tendons; presumably more so when pronated? That sounds very reasonable and I like your suggestion of having it fixed in place.
I certainly don't agree that the movement isnt 'natural' compared to a bicep curl. I could think of several examples of performing the motion in the natural world, some being grappling with an opponent and using tools/building. Where as you are far more likely to have a neutral grip (hammer curl) just about everything.
Anyway good explanation. Just got back from the gym myself. Go and kill it mate, prepare for war!
Ohhhhhh that would have been better then blowing my arms off
Why only once a week?
if your forearms are too sore all of the time, it'll negatively impact the rest of your lifting (like, don't do this the day before heavy deadlifts, unless you use straps, but then why are you using the forearm roller in the first place, ditch the straps!)
I fcked both of my arms up doing this excessively. So if you plan on doing this, I’d too, limit doing this exercise to once a week.
@@BigRed2003
Really? I've done just about every forearm exercise under the sun and I gotta say that nothing ever felt as good as this. Been doing it for afew years now and it beats the shit out of standard wrist curls and neutral grip curls.
Couldn't you just use a bar?
For what?
I used to do a lot of oil changes and had the same effect lol
Well yeah but you’re doing it wrong. You gotta hold it out in front of you
You know if you start doing this shit you spend to much time in the gym
Thousands of viewers want that same exact pipe you are using in this video. So, on that note, instead of telling us to make one ,where can we get the one you have? Not everyone is fortunate to have tools ,or is a carpenter🛠.....😏
I’ll cut a 1’ long piece of 3”emt pipe for everyone that can’t find one and I’ll ship it to you for $50 a pop problem solved.
Any exercise you do once a week is pointless.
I deadlift once a week though.
@@swansong5960, squats and dead’s are basically train wrecks on your body. Once a week for both is fine.
How would you go to failure on this ?
Yes it heals quick
@@horaciogonzalez4070 wat I asked how
@@victorherron8960 lol by doing until you cant? Not that complicated.
@@jacobsvetich8735 I mean more like how does progressive failure work with this. Like how do u track reps ? One rep for up and down ?
@@jacobsvetich8735 Yes. One rep is up and down.
Or just use your grip.
What does that even mean?
@@BigRed2003 The more you use your grip the stronger it gets. Lessening the opportunity of carpel tunnel, Ligament and tendon strain/joint damage .
To perform that exercise you have to use your grip strength though. I have a lot of grip strength as a byproduct of my job. I’m a hardscaper. So if you’re saying to use your grip outside of the gym, some do that are like myself. Others who work office jobs, as a cashier, etc. don’t. So, they can utilize this exercise in the gym if they want to build their grip strength.
@@xaviermagnate You can also do stronglifts like a deadlift or hang clean and press. But this works great if you want to do an isolation exercise for your forearms.
Repent and trust in Christ 🙌🙏
Nice daisy dukes bro. 😂 🤦♂️
Those shorts are completely normal, maybe don't skip leg day?
Thumb head 😂
