I haven't tried it YET! :-). I know it is possible and I know how to do it. I also have machinery to make the holes impeccable. It's something I'll do soon. We are also working on the 20th Anniversary iPod with bluetooth, wireless charging, no perimetral charging port or any hole, a new case ... Crazy :-) We are testing it live on Twitch. Didn’t work on my first try unfortunately. Think I melted the pads on the Taptic Engine. How do I know I didn’t damage anything when I desoldered the click speaker? Should those two speaker contacts have continuity? Trying to figure out if I need a new headphone assembly
It is only possible to know if Audio Flex is ok with an oscilloscope. Only then can you see the electrical pulse that the iPod sends to the clicker. Maybe with a high quality voltmeter, but I'm not sure. If you want you can join to my discord (discord.gg/7mZnuMDw) and share a photo so we can see. What taptic engine are you using? It is not necessary to solder in the taptic testpoint. You can solder in the connector sides. There you have the + and the -. The large pads on the sides.
Hey got your SSD and 1800 mAh battery set from AE. Was wondering if there is any space for the taptic mod using the Iphone 7 one if using the thin back case. I was told the smaller Iphone 6 taptic engine is not as reliable.
No. With a razor or ssd drive and a 1800mah battery there is no space for a taptic engine. With the original battery or a 1000mah battery, there is space. Well, yes, there maybe a place for Taptic.. If you have a razor and you use a single sd card in socket 1, you can desolder socket 2 (if you have tools). Without that socket, you might be able to put the taptic engine OVER the razor, but I'm not sure. Would have to measure.
