Guyssss we’re back, with our Iron man 3 reaction, I hope you enjoy!!! As always we have a few questions at the end and throughout tbh sooo I need you to bless us with your Marvel knowledge, The next Marvel reaction will be next Monday at 6:30 pm GMT, Also Stay tuned and check out the Community Post, this eve/tomorrow as I’ve got something special planned for this week, also as always if you want to catch where we at currently check out the Patreon, other than that Much love and Thank you as always for your support I really do love you guys!!
Also answer to your question: he doesn't need the heart to save hes life anymore, before he did but now he doesn't, he has the heart removed but the arc reactor is still on he's suits cuz it's the thing powering the suit
BTW, the REAL Mandarin is actually making his debut in the MCU as the main antagonist in the upcoming 2021 film "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings"
I usually get murdered when I say this lol, but this is my favorite Iron Man movie. Seeing him deal with PTSD, overcome his obsession with his suits, etc is so cool to watch. The entire theme of this movie can be summed up in that last line from Tony: "You can take away my house, all my tricks and toys. But one thing you can't take away. I AM Iron Man." This movie was all about proving that Tony is the hero, and not the suit.
I did like how this movie handled Tony's PTSD. Realistically, seeing an alien invasion for the first time, facing it head on and almost dying from a nuke would definitely mess up someone mentally.
Especially since Tony feels a responsibility to the world generally and Pepper particularly, and he's now seen there's threats out there way beyond the ability of anyone on Earth to handle. If Iron Man can't solve the problem, no-one can, so it's all on him. Even the Avengers rely on him for everything from their tech to the highest-tier hacking to, as in the case of the nuke in New York, finding the winning strategy. Not knowing if you can protect the people you must; that would keep you up nights.
More specifically it powers an electromagnet that is pulling on the shrapnel away from his heart. (That actually is a real medical condition that can happen, foreign objects can be pulled in and trapped in the body due to the object not being removed and healing behind it)
@@CosmicNova1000 I mean, not necessarily. Building a heart in a cave would probably be more of a challenge than an electro-magnet, but at the end of the day, it's a pump, so I wouldn't entirely put it past Yinsen to be able to do it. The timeframe would be a lot tighter, but it wouldn't be outside the realm of possibility for the universe if you wrote it properly. Tony could have some variety of artificial heart; he just doesn't. Narratively, it wouldn't make a ton of difference either way.
As someone who battled PTSD for years, this one is my favorite Iron Man. This is depicted very nicely. I get lumps in my throat and teary eyes very often during this movie.
Your girlfriend is so sharp, wow. Recognized the guy right away, made the connection between the plant and the modified people, instantly knew the Mandarin guy was an actor, predicted that Tony would blow up his suits and reward the kid. Judging her first time reaction to the movie against mine, she's way more clever than me, that's for sure.
Or at least more observant lol Maybe she just has a good eye for certain things… But she does seem pretty sharp, yeah… Sometimes people are intelligent in different ways though.
Also remembered that the chest piece is not Iron Man's heart. Just was meant to avoid the shrapnel to get into it. I mean Rico, my man, she's kicking your ass.
Yes Tony has a heart. The arc reactor in his chest was there as an electromagnet to keep the shrapnel out of his heart. Great reaction video as always!
PTSD aside, I especially also love how in this movie, Tony is trying to come to terms with whether he can live up to the mantle of Iron Man. Through the entire movie, they're showing Tony and Iron Man as two different people, what with the suit being remote controlled and walking around, him dragging it around and telling it to stop looking at him and calling himself "The Mechanic" (as in, "just the guy who made Iron Man"). In the end, he has a staring contest with the helmet, ending in the faceplate falling off and revealing nothing inside, finally proving to Tony that it's just a suit ("a cocoon"), and finally he closes off with "I AM Iron Man."
Remember Pepper's gift of boxing Tony's first Arc Reactor Core: "Proof that Tony Stark has a heart". It was referring to proving he has a heart because the reactor's primary purpose was to keep the sharpnel out of it.
Yes Tony definitely still has a heart, you’ll still see the chest piece in certain movies, but that’s just to power his armor now. He doesn’t need the arc reactor in order to survive. But I really enjoyed the reaction guys, and don’t be afraid to ask questions, this universe can definitely become confusing at times. Some questions you may not want answered if they are spoilers. But as long as the answers isn’t a spoiler, I’m sure other people as well as myself are glad to answer 😁
One of the nice things about the MCU is that, if and when questions arise, there's often a good and interesting answer that adds to the enjoyment of the universe. I know there's a lot of very talented people involved (Whedon and the Russos, particularly. Taika Waititi. Favreau. Etc.), but I just can't say enough about Kevin Feige. I haven't the foggiest idea how's he achieved (and is achieving) such a high, and, maybe more difficult, consistent level of quality. It's mind-boggling.
10:48 it’s unimaginably hard. When you think about it, he’s dealing with thoughts because he’s human. He’s not a soldier who’s use to crazy battle, not a God who’s fought entities for hundreds of years, he’s just human and if people get ptsd from bombs and gun fire, imagine intergalactic warfare between Gods extraterrestrials and forces of the universe and beyond… in an instant. Avengers was the first time he got SMACKED with EVERYTHING and even hulk caught ptsd after thanos because HES human too lol Hawkeye retired until there was no other option black widow was consistently broken and crying while eating sandwiches but in all honesty she was probably the strongest pure human (captain definitely wasn’t purely human lol with the enhancements)
@43:13 After explosion in first movie Tony had some shrapnel left in his body moving towards his heart, so yes he still has it, arc wasnt a replacement, its just a strong magnet to keep shrapnel from moving and now he removed all of it so he isnt dependent on his reactor.
He does have a real heart. The Arc Reactor was powering an electromagnet inside him which kept the sharpnels from entering his real heart. Since the doctors removed all of those sharpnels, he no more needs the electromagnet and the Arc reactor which powers it.
First off, great reaction as always, secondly, yes he does have a heart, he just needed the arc reactor to power a magnet forever to keep the shrapnel out of his heart 😊
Tony has a arc reactor in his chest, to stop the shrapnel from touching his heart. He uses another arc reactor in each suit as a battery. Tony removed the shrapnel from his chest so now he doesnt need the arc reactor, only to power his suits. Tony does get around the suit arc reactor requirement but i can't spoil it for you.
looked into it and he had Bruce & Dr. Cho make bone muscle tissue & skin for him so he can close his thoracic cavity. so there's rebuilt muscles bones tendon tissues & skin where the chest piece used to be. Also from hereon out the arc reactor is flattened and sits atop his chest instead of inside.
5:10 if you look at the drawing you will see Tony doesn't sign with his name but write a message instead that says "Erin save me. It's literally a cry for help.
Can I just say I’ve been in and out of hospital and watching your Harry Potter and Marvel reaction have actually made me happy because your both amazing people, never stop making content !
Tony doesn't like being handed things because the last time he was, it was pictures of Gulmira destroyed by his weapons back in iron man 1 (at least that's a fairly common theory i've seen online about it)
The kid makes one more appearance in the MCU. It is a spoiler to tell you where but he is grown up and you will not recognize him. A perfect place for him to be.
I love this movie more every time I see it. Besides just being lots of fun to watch, it perfectly establishes Stark's character arc for the rest of the MCU. Also, it takes all the best things from my favorite stories in the comics. And the conflict isn't just figuring out how to beat up a badguy, he uses his powers and resources to help people, he has to grow as a person in multiple ways... it's just packed with good shit.
Holy shit!! I've seen Iron Man 3 five times now, and I NEVER connected the opening Tony Stark monologue to the end credits scene! That totally makes sense. My mind is blown too. Job well done, thank you.
He obviously still has his heart he is actually human so he kinda needs it. The Arc reactor like others have said was to keep the shrapnel from moving into his heart which would kill him. But he still has the Arc reactor in his chest but it’s used to power his suits.
Doesn't matter if Tony blows up all his suits. He was up to Mark 8 in Avengers, which was set in May 2012. In the seven months between then and Christmas 2012 when this is set, he designs and builds 34 new suits. That means he can design and build a brand-new suit in less than a week.
His heart still works, the arc reactor was only implemented as a means to keep the shrapnel out of his heart. Once the shrapnel was taken out, there was no need for the arc reactor. Each Iron Man suit has its own reactor, so they can function without Tony's
God damn, she's quick. First person I've seen put it together that Killian and Rebecca Hall's character were teamed up so early in the movie, I completely missed that when I first saw it lol. Now I'm really excited to see you guys go through these movies!
I couldn’t get past that the Extremis story in the comics was so different to the film. In the comics, Tony takes the Extremis formula, so he and his suit become one.
I was screaming at the screen "there IS another one" but I remembered I was in fact thinking about a Marvel One-Shot film "All Hail the King" and not an after-credit scene :D
I just realized now that this is the first Iron Man Movie to not be directed by Happy Hogan actor Jon Favreau, but rather by Shane Black. It is the first Iron Man movie in which Nick Fury, Christine Everhart, and Agent Phil Coulson do "NOT" make a physical appearance. It is also the last MCU film to be distributed by Paramount.
I had put ironman 3 last in 'my favourite ironman' list, as i have grown i realised there is much to it especially the mental stuff, being a kid i never understood these stuffs but now, i get it. Still my favourite is Ironman 1 though, because it started all for me. Me with my buddy's home watching this for the first time can't forget that experience. Ironman 3 is my 2nd favourite ironman.
Oh cool and I was just finishing up the avatar reactions when this came up 😂 I’m happy Monica is enjoying these keep up the great work man for all the effort and hard work you put in it’s worth it 👍🏼
i love your reactionos guys, its genuine and isn't trying hard to nitpick, i would love to be in this marvel journey with you, though i've watched the whole mcu many times :D
I just realized this after almost a decade: the kid's dad left six years ago and his little sister is six. I'm guessing someone didn't want to pay for child support.
He can't get a suit that is combat ready because Mark 42 was the only suit which he can summon. It was a autonomous repulsive suit which can be summoned from anywhere which allows tony to suit up quickly.
Another great reaction as always. It’s awesome seeing you guys watch the movies so close to my heart. And I’m super excited because you’re slowly approaching one of my favorites from phase 2. I’m not sure if it’s the next one or the second one after this but you’ll love it when you get to it. ❄️
You know this kid Harley Keener will appear in at least one key moment in a future Avenger movie. I hope it is not a spoiler but it's important to keep in mind because he will most probably grow up to be the Iron Lad, leader of young avengers
Tony wasn’t trying to trigger Bruce/hulk in avengers, he was being playful with him and treating him normal and talking causally a it’s the hulk, he was treating Bruce like a human, Tony was the ONLY person on board the ship who treated with common decency, everyone else was being so very cautious around Bruce, too worried he will be triggered or something, they treated him as if he’s fragile, as if he’s a bomb that could go off any minute, tony was the only who had an actual conversation with Bruce and was joking around with him
I loved this movie, I’d say my favorite out of the 3 ! I liked how they handled the after-effects of the New York incident. It’s not far-fetched AT ALL for him to have PTSD following that moment. I mean, he DID almost die in space because of aliens attacking earth ?! It’d be weird for him not to feel anything from that Anyway Tony is definitely my favorite Marvel character ☺️✨
He still has a heart yes, he used the arc reactor to power an electromagnet that would prevent shrapnel from a bomb from going into his heart and slowly killing him. For the most part, it also powered the Iron Man suits, but he changed their design for this movie because he needed them to move on their own under Jarvis' control so they needed a new power source The Arc Reactor was proof that Tony had a heart, thats the joke of Pepper's gift to him in the first Iron Man movie. If Tony didn't have a heart, he wouldn't need an arc reactor powered electromagnet to prevent shrapnel from going into it
This is the first movie she had trouble predicting the plot for...... even then she predicted the botanist and killian team up xD you guys are very good at predicting :) love your reactions :3
Tony doesn't like being handed things, but it's not because of germs it's because of when he was handed a subpoena in Iron Man 2 so he doesn't trust anyone (except Pepper) to hand him things.
Did you get at the post credit scene of Tony talking to Banner that it was telling us that Tony had been telling the story of the entire movie to Banner like if they were having a therapy session?
Wait a minute he said he lives in Malibu that's cali, and stark tower is new york the other movies he was heading back and forth driving like taking the stark expo table in the car home he drove cross country like that?
Tony Stark was suffering severe PTSD. I know, because I deal with the same condition. RDJ managed to do a really good job of showing what PTSD flashbacks/experiences are like, and the difficulties that come along with trying to deal with it.
Should watch the tv show Agents of Shield after this movie, you dont have to watch the entire thing, just the first episode of the show as it reveals something from the movies
Did you get at the end credit scene that it turned out since the start that Tony had been telling Banner about everything that happened in Iron Man 3 like if they were in a therapy session?
lmao why do people think tony doesn't have a heart the ark-reactor is just to keep the shrapnel from going to his heart like a magnet also it powers the suits

Tony has a heart and watch all the mcu movies till the credits end

Nothing wrong with that
This is my best one for me too because of that.
I appreciate it and like it more each time I see it.
Yep. The directing really focuses on his ability to think his way out of situations, rather than blast his way out.
I respect your reasoning, even if i don't necessarily agree with your opinion😊
I did like how this movie handled Tony's PTSD. Realistically, seeing an alien invasion for the first time, facing it head on and almost dying from a nuke would definitely mess up someone mentally.
Don't forget the oxygen loss.

I think they forgot that Tony figured it out in IM2 after he realized he was dying.

Tony doesn't like being handed things, but it's not because of germs it's because of when he was handed a subpoena in Iron Man 2 so he doesn't trust anyone (except Pepper) to hand him things.
Did anyone notice the ten rings when the Mandarin first appeared?
Tony definitely still has a heart! There's proof!
Yeah Monica's right he still has a heart
Did you get at the post credit scene of Tony talking to Banner that it was telling us that Tony had been telling the story of the entire movie to Banner like if they were having a therapy session?
Love your reactions ❤
Monica's right. He still has a heart.
Some parts of this movie were fantastic, underrated film
Wait a minute he said he lives in Malibu that's cali, and stark tower is new york the other movies he was heading back and forth driving like taking the stark expo table in the car home he drove cross country like that?
Tony Stark was suffering severe PTSD. I know, because I deal with the same condition. RDJ managed to do a really good job of showing what PTSD flashbacks/experiences are like, and the difficulties that come along with trying to deal with it.
You guys are going to love Avengers Infinity War and Avengers Endgame. Great reactions!
The Arc Reactor powered the magnet that kept shrapnel from reaching his heart by removing the Shrapnel he no longer needs it
Tony doesn't need the chest piece it was to stop the shrapnel from going into his heart. with the shrapnel gone, he doesn't need it.
Should watch the tv show Agents of Shield after this movie, you dont have to watch the entire thing, just the first episode of the show as it reveals something from the movies
Love your reaction guys
The reactor is the power source for the electromagnet to keep the sharpnels from entering into his heart
It’s Tinman who doesn’t have a heart. Ironman just puts out a persona that’s he’s heartless.
Did you get at the end credit scene that it turned out since the start that Tony had been telling Banner about everything that happened in Iron Man 3 like if they were in a therapy session?
your girl was right, it is like a reverse magnet to keep shrapnel from going into his heart.
btw how would he live WITHOUT a heart?
Batman gives kids telescopes
Iron Man gives kids flash grenades
lmao why do people think tony doesn't have a heart the ark-reactor is just to keep the shrapnel from going to his heart like a magnet also it powers the suits
Rico looked so betrayed at 29:20 haha
Iron man is such a great character
Nice to see some folks who liked this movie as much as I did.
The general internet is so negative...buncha haters.
Y'all are really good
Yep ironmans my favourite too
What happened with the rest of the Maze Runner movies and the Divergent series?
Her hair is so pretty
I don't have a problem with Pepper killing the Mandarin, but they way they made her do it made me bust out laughing
'He's becoming my favourite' Oh prepare yourself.
25:01 oof don't give me those feels already
I loved this movie this was my favourite iron man movie it shows that tony is human and can have problems and I love him and Harley
