That narrow path is NO joke, no wonder few find it, we are born in this sinful world and we must resist temptation every single day for as long as we live, then we also must be born again as well, this walk…I knew it wasn’t gonna be easy, almost daily I feel I’m not as close to God as I thought I was, then I go and read Isaiah 1:15 “When you spread out your hands in prayer, I hide my eyes from you; even when you offer many prayers, I am not listening. Your hands are full of blood!“
‭‭NIV‬‬. Idk if it still applies because it’s Old Testament but man…this walk is NOT easy but I’m not giving up, because I know he will never abandon me

I also feel this way mostly. I know how discouraging it is, and its so easy to walk the line between resting in Jesus's work and striving for holiness. Its easy to slip into thinking God judges you by your works ,buts not true, He loves us regardless of what we do, even His commands are out of love. I find it easier to obey Him when i consider His love, but sometimes i doubt it. You're not alone in this, in fact i heard mighty men of God that i look up to, saying they had struggles as me, that is encouraging, and as God was with them He will be with you and me, just don't give in ,like you said.

It's not really the same covenant. Yes i agree we need to learn from the OT, and I agree that the principles of the OT law apply, and the law itself as in serious moral general things(murder/adultery etc) but the new covenant is different. The Old was only with Israel, based on obedience and with physical blessings mostly. The New covenant is based on faith, grace, and the promises are rather spiritual. The apostle Paul also spoke of the contrast between the new nd old covenant. However there are lessons to learn, principles to follow and take heed of, we see the heart of God, etc. It's just not one and the same

The narrow and the straight path is Jesus bro. Few find it because they’re all trying to be enough. They’re all trying to reach this standard that isn’t the standard of God because his standard is perfection. Not resisting some sin sometimes isn’t Gods standard. “Turning from the world” isnt Gods standard. Trust in Jesus for your salvation. Quit trying to earn your way. He payed it all on the cross. Believe in that. He saved you bro, you play no part in it. You can’t ever be perfect. So it’s either you are perfect or you believe in Jesus Christ.

I think every Christian needs to have their own struggle to really understand what it means to be a Christian. I’ve noticed people who come to Christ later in life have a different view point than those of us who grew up in it. I think some of who are raised in the church take a lot for granted, and haven’t experienced what means to wrestle with God. I think this is why some Christians abandon their faith in adulthood, because life gets hard, and many think God is supposed make their troubles go away. When it doesn’t happen the way they want, they lash out.

I couldn't relate anymore to this. I grew up in the church during my elementary and middle school years. However, once I went to the high school/ college that I went to I was exposed to a lot of secularism and admittedly partook in it.
I honestly thank God i had the opportunity to experience what I did because it forced me to be uncomfortable and be around people who didn't believe/were mad at God. I realize it's my duty to do my best to bring them to God.

The people born or raised in the church learned how to serve God before loving Him.
My parents were saved and served God out of love. They didn't really know what it meant to serve, but they did have a passion for Christ.
I did not love God, and that's why it was easy for me to experiment with the secular.

I struggle daily with sexual temptation and sin. It's the one sin that latches on. Even after I try to block off avenues to Pornography I find new avenues to lust. I don't understand sexual temptation. Sex was created by God to be something good but for me it becomes an unhealthy obsession. I miss the 90's in a lot of way because Internet/Smart Phone technology did not exist. Most avenues of lust were through magazines and occassionally on movies and TV but it wasn't really ubiquitous. Now it's literally everywhere you look. Everywhere you turn. There is no escape. No respite. Something seems wrong with the whole picture. I struggle with OCD so it amplifies all those thoughts even worse. I don't know how some people escape but I know it's possible and I try not to give up hope.

Yes I have gone through something similar.
I was raised in church and raised pretty well. Even with my friends I still acted like a good Christian. And still do. But every now and again some signs of sin would leak out. I fell into such a big pit of masterbation and pornography. When I was about 3or4 I had gotten baptized. But it wasn't until I was 16 until I realized I wasn't saved. I started having doubts. So I asked God to show me if I was saved. He did. I had a dream that Jesus came back and I wasn't ready. That was early last year. After a struggle with what I needed to do I finally gave it all to him Dec 3rd of last year. I am still struggling with pornography, but I'm trying to stop. I know exactly what you have gone through. I'll be 18 this July and I hope to break loose from the chains of lust by then.

That was the most important thing in my life and I knew I was wrong and that I was sinning by hurting my body with lack of nutrition.

If anything, personally I always knew that thinness for me, and control through restriction was my idolatry. it IS idolatry, or serving another God, it was my whole world, and I gave our saviour no place in that world. But Jesus warned us we cannot serve two masters, which is part of what keeps the temptation at bay to this day, cus i still crave after that peace and control. But its not real peace, or true joy, Christs gospel is :), yay.

I can’t thank you enough brother for this very encouraging breath of fresh air! We’re not so different, you and I, being basically raised Christian by loving parents who did the best they could to show and tell we were unconditionally loved; yet still walking away feeling we had something to prove and/or love to earn.
As I’m working through even today, as a married father in his mid 30s, I felt (and still feel) a lot of pressure as an oldest child who is/was “wise and capable beyond his years” to act like I “know better than that” (as I was often admonished). Which, as I’ve grown to believe, sowed the seeds of perfectionism in me - where I (like you as I understand) logically ascent to the truth of the gospel yet struggle to take it all the way to heart, believing that I still have to “be perfect before the Lord my God.” And yes I kept my own struggles under wraps, saying “it’s not as bad as the others out there.”

I definitely struggle in being fully honest with God about my own sins and temptations. Particularly in the double life aspect. On one hand, I'm very enthusiastic about my faith and particularly adamant on what I want in a romantic relationship. On the other hand, I've gradually caught feelings for a non-Christian. I feel like this is properly the first time where I've been tested in my beliefs, after the luxury of growing up in a sheltered Christian household. For a while I denied it was happening, but it's pointless considering God knows exactly what is going on in your heart- and just harms you in the end! So I'm more honest with myself and Him now. It's still very spiritually difficult and draining- but I know that God wants the best person for me, and it's not with someone I can't be fully authentic with.

I do not feel like it is wise to be a Christian when one is looking to be coupled. Faith is a struggle, and you must reach the conclusions of faith at the right time with someone else, while having disernment, with similar experiences while taking the power differential and motivators and deceptions into account. Just take into account what is necessary and what can be negotiated away, and delegation of duties. It is far more important that you can raise your children under the right values and mindset.

I may not have a right here to speak because I did not grow up in church or a christian home, but this is what I see. Our greatest failure is loving ourselves more than loving God! And we fail to love God because we don't know Him as we should. He has given more than enough to know and draw near to Him (His creation, word, historical proof of living, ect). In light of this it is understandable then that it didn't work. I used to have this double too! Back in late 2016 I was attending a men's bible study group in my church. That group was on a Friday night and... well... y'all know what happens if you still have non-believing friends calling you up on Friday night. God chastised me for that of course but this whole time, I always had that self-imposed pressure to put up a face in church even when I knew that God accepts me as I am but He will transform my life for His glory.
Everyone around my church were very genuine people too! Whoever they were in church, they were the same people when we would just have dinner after church or just walk along the boulevard. And yet I put this pressure on myself to be the "good Christian." But then God gave me a circle of very close friends in church and they really showed me on a personal level what it meant to just be honest with the Lord because they were really honest with me too! Two of said friends moved to different cities and are still serving the Lord where they are and the other two live where I am but I haven't seem them at church the past year sadly. Praying for them always.

Always we need to remember we are sinners.
I don't know if you would be interested but Cameron Fradd, on her channel Among the Lillies, had a Healing After Abortion Story, and in that story, the young woman goes to her godparents after the event, and the god parents said to her: We too, have done terrible things.
And they helped her pick up the pieces.
I think how important it is for each other as christians to know that we too, have done terrible things, but none of us are beyond redemption and that is why we are christians.

Sometimes, God allows us to go through a desert where we think he doesn’t hear us or doesn’t answer us. He allows our surroundings to crumble so he can stir our souls towards him, and we can understand that there is nothing in the world that will last forever, nothing that will satisfy your soul but him. He allows our walk through this desert so we experience what it is to thirst for him, giving us a drop of his presence one at a time so that we know that only he can sustain us through those times. Stay strong my friend, just keep believing that he will make a way through that desert. Don’t faint, God is with you.

This path is so hard to go through, arrogant people trying to disprove us, saying it’s fairy tales, sometimes I just want to stop in the path and just wait till I die. But I can’t do that, I have to continue down this path to reach God.

Yeah, it wasn't a choice as a kid, and I fell into the idea that it was a chore and something I had to do, and it took me falling away from faith and being lost to truly believe and choose to follow Christ. It also took me a very long time even when I started to go to church again to really acknowledge there were two lives I was living. This video is a nice reminder for me that I am not perfect and I shouldn't be ashamed to be open with my imperfection. Thanks brother.

    • @icyink8297

So a lot of us stumble into sin not only bc of exposure but bc there is a mass confusion with parents of this last 2 generations that we are living perfectly fine when there is a whole world that is online that the youth is exposed too that the parent doesn’t know how to control and another pattern is that some parents brush off things too oftentimes when we try to tell them that we feel that we may be doing something wrong so we stay un answered and live with ignorant sin and fall into the rabbit hole this way, the world is completely changing faster than we can comprehend and parents can’t %100 gate keep everything but what they can do is become a go-to person to talk to which lots of parents are failing to do in the last days.

@@icyink8297This right here. This is the struggle. This most recent generation has been exposed to a whole other level of lustful content and just demonic things. It makes the Christian walk 10x harder cuz you basically have to cut out all these things but even then it feels like stuff is just nagging on you constantly and the struggle gets even tougher when you make active steps towards God. I’ve dealt with shame so long because of my sin and horrible things my mind has been exposed to but God is renewing us every single day and taking us through it. Spiritual warfare is so real and if you have people in your household who are spiritually blinded and don’t believe in Jesus then you will be attacked through them as well. I feel you on what your speaking God Bless you my friend🙏❤️🙏❤️

This definitely happens. The only way it doesn’t happen is when the individual is in a faith that truly isn’t Christian, one that puts no pressure upon the individual to try. The CHEAP GRACE belief.
The facade, the masquerade of pretending to be Christian is functional. It is a mold in which we press ourselves in the hope and goal of becoming MORE like Christ. If we don’t give up , we will fail, but Christs ransom bridges the gap. It becomes an acolyte, master relationship.

It doesn't matter how many facts, logic and reason I use, it will always come back because my loneliness, isolation and sadness kicks in and wants to do it. Holiness is the example. Be holy for I am holy. Leviticus 19:2. 1 Peter 1:15,16. We are called to follow his foot steps. 1 Peter 2:21-23. Romans 8:12-17. What you are saying it's true but holiness is needed in publicly and secretly by doing that we need to look to Jesus always to enables us to do God's will. It's possible to be a good Christian through Jesus who gives you strength because without Jesus we all can do nothing and by doing that it takes sometime to grow mature in spiritual as well with physical, Joseph from the old testament was example by fleeing sexual temptation from Potiphar's wife. God was with Joseph and blessed him with everything he did.

One of the major tenets of historical Protestantism is that there is no such thing as a "good Christian." Our redeemed spirit and our flesh will continue to battle for as long as we live, and final victory will not occur in this lifetime. The first of Martin Luther's 95 Theses stated that the life of a Christian is a life of daily repentance. The liturgy in churches such as Anglican and Lutheran typically begins with a prayer of confession in which we admit that all of us, including the pastor leading the prayer, have sinned in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone, followed by words of absolution. There is no need to pretend that we are "good Christians" who have attained some sort of spiritual victory.

You are baptized in water to clean you. Baptized in oil to prepare you. Then you go into the fire to burn away your faults and understand the Holy Spirit.
Then you go into the fire.
Then you go into the fire.
Then you go into the fire.
Then you go into the fire.
Then you go into the fire.
But there's less to burn away each time and it gets easier until
    You're the fire.

I struggle with my flesh so much that i just got tired of the struggle and just let go and just accepted it but i know this isnt right,i should by no means accept sin as something normal, something fine,we are called to be holy and we are given the power to fight sin and we are dead to sin and sin reigns in our life only if we let it but my problem i suppose is that i dont know how to let God fight these my battles,i fight them on my own with my own strenght and this is why i got tired of these battles and why i am unable to win them. Flesh and the Spirit cannot peacefully coenside,Bible says they are at emnity with one another and that we cant serve two masters. I understand i will struggle with flesh until the day i die or rather in these days until rapture happens and we get new eternal glorified body, what i need to learn is let go from me having control and let God take control. Again,i dont know how to do that.
I cant wait for the day we will have our new body and wont ever again sin even in thoughts,i am exhausted from sinning,i feel like a filthy rag. God bless.

once you've surrendered to and found christ, you've already reached the key to heaven.
But then our journey of bettering our relationship with god and filling our heart more and more with christ and removing any evil and sin from our heart starts.
And sometimes you will stumble and fall, but what matters most of all is that you stand up. And you stand up by confessing your sins and trusting god in improving you.
We are the silver and god is the silversmith. He will not take his eye off us until we are purified by the fire which can consist of pain and suffering but also other things that we learn from. And he won't leave us too long and neither too short in that fire. He'll take us out at just the perfect time when we are fully purified.
God is faithfull to finish what he started, therefore there is no reason not to trust him.
God is worthy to be praised by all in existence and therefore we should! may god bless you like he did with me, and may we put our trust in him for if we do, our destination is clear!
