  • How to restore an old stapler.
We are going to restore this antique large format stapler.*** It is a Longinus Mod. 450L from around the 50's, and now it is not working, probably because it is missing a screw in the front part in addition to dirt and rust.
It has the wooden base with a ruler on both sides, in centimeters and inches respectively.
The detailed process is as follows:
    It is completely disassembled.
The rust is removed from the unpainted parts with a metal brush.
Those that are painted are cleaned with metal cleaning liquid or with soap and water, affecting the parts of worse access with a cotton swab or similar.
It is decided not to paint the chipping so that it does not lose its originality, but we apply a specific varnish for metals to stop the rust.
A wax is then applied to give it a more natural shine.
The wooden part is cleaned with a specific product or if it is not enough with solvent and a cloth, applying it carefully.
Once dry, a wax is applied. This time it is not sanded so that the marks of the ruler are not lost.
The metal part is reassembled to test it.
Put a screw where it belongs on the front.
    Test it and it works!
The wooden part is placed, putting a little glue in the holes.
And that's it! Now we can use it!
    Thank you very much.
