I played an hour of the game and the way you can create your character and with so much detail is amazing. I chose a rogue character as you can do a magic archer, similar to Dragons Dogma!
I love that people are enjoying it! This game isn't for me. The tone/art direction isn't dark enough (like the previous entries) for me but I am glad others are enjoying it! Keep it up Ren!
Are you certain? It seems just as dark as the previous ones, possibly even darker in some areas. The art style has only looked poor once for me, and can look amazing in many others. Give it a chance!
I've been playing for a while and it definitely isn't nearly as dark. The art style also isn't a good choice for me. The combat is fine, but hasn't gripped me a huge amount yet. Enemies feel quite spongey and the combat is quite chaotic, it can be fun at times and I'm hoping it'll improve as I unlock more stuff. Writing is a bit hit or miss so far, some fun stuff and a lot of absolute duds. What worries me is it is giving me more 'Andromeda' than 'Origins', but we'll see how it goes. The 'puzzles' are absolutely pointless and basic and could have been removed entirely. Locations look stunning though, and the art direction there is excellent.
I disagreed on Starfield (strongly), but I do genuinely enjoy your positivity and approach to covering games. It's a great time to be in this hobby, and I appreciate the joy you project. 🤙
Yeah it's called shilling. Looking past anything political about the game. The dialogue is laughable, it's like I am watching a bad Marvel TV show. Nothing is taken seriously. Facial animations look some how worse than DAI in conveying any kind of emotion. Combat is subpar, in largely facing fights in small arenas and then moving on to the next narrow hallway.. The "puzzles" are a embarrassment.
I just stopped playing (I’ve done 8 hours too) I agree the writing and “feel” is different from the first two but to me that doesn’t matter as I’m not sentimental 😂 even though I grew up on those games. It’s a fun, interesting game and I’m enjoying it!
Like it a lot too. My only criticism so far is that you have to make A LOT of decisions before knowing anything about the game. Especially Faction seems like a big choice but you don't really know what you are getting. Still have to do the start with a Mage and Rogue to see what Ifeel like playing through. But the style has defiently won me over during the opening sequence.
Im playing as an elven mage veil jumper leaning towards spell blade the story is fun so far and characters are interesting. As a Dragon Age big fan I'm happy to back in this world i watched the Dragon Age animated series leading into this for my countdown
Im loving every minute of this game. The environments, the writing, the companions. My only complaint is that my character doesn't look as good as i want it to. I think that is more of an issue on my part and kinda rushing though the character creator. Apart from that no complaints. This game deserves all the praise its getting. The loudest voices will always be the negative ones. Just put on your headphones and enjoy the ride.
hey question about the spell blade. what kind of gameplay do you start with. do you start with more rogue/mage hybrid or is the starting playstyle more classic mage and you unlock the spec later? if so, how much later? really interested in trying that class :)
I played yesterday and am up bright and early so I can steal some time before work. Loved it that much. I'm a tough date. Lol So a new game that pulls me away from my comfort zone games this way means something for me anyway. Love the combat, the storyline, my party... my Rook looks awesome... it all works for me.
I agree, I love the game and it's still early but I'm pretty sure it will be my Game of the Year as well. My Steam download didn't finish until about 10PM so I didn't get to play that much. But I did get to play a long time on Xbox. I'm playing on Normal too and I'm finding the combat a bit difficult. But I didn't know that every companion can heal--that will make a difference. It's odd starting out as a mage because you don't have any companions to hide behind or issue taunts in beginning. The mini-bosses just come straight for me. The look of the game is stunning. The dialog has been great so far. The mix of characters is awesome so far and sure to get better. Neve is my most anticipated gaming romance in a long time, probably ever.
For me, not just as a Dragon Age fan. But a Dark Souls fan, God of War Ragnarok fan, Jade Empire fan, Devil May Cry fan... The list goes on. Oh yeah, and Massive Monster Hunter fan.
Positivity echo chambers are as harmful as negative ones. There is legitimate criticism to be made of Veilguard’s presentation and design in comparison to the older titles, and EA doesn’t deserve a free pass on their marketing or consumer practices either.
There are definitely extremes on both ends with haters of this game out there, but have you considered that many complaints are perfectly valid, and that people are genuinely disappointed in this title? I'm happy you are enjoying it, and I truly wanted to as well, but the writing is atrocious. I can't agree whatsoever that this is peak Bioware; all the people that made Bioware's hits have left the studio, and the writing in this game is incredibly Disneyfied. It's so disappointing!
I'm not super far in, and have enjoyed some parts of the writing, but it definitely doesn't feel on par with the originals. Andromeda over Origins, which ain't good. I'm enjoying it more than not so far, but am concerned it won't last.
I’m digging it so far. Intrigued by the story. Combat feels good. Graphics are great and really well optimized on PC. I made this in a similar comment on Reddit and want to give my two cents here, I hope this is a sign of things to come for BioWare with the next Mass Effect and maybe EA in general. From DICE under the leadership of Zampanella with the next Battlefield to Respawn with the next Jedi game and hopefully more Titanfall. Let your developers cook. We get great games and you still make bank.
Sat down and played this for 12 hours straight today. While there’s a few things I wish could be changed, I’m incredibly happy with it! It’s an amazing fourth chapter for dragon age fans and has tons of callbacks. Might not be as amazing if it’s your first dragon age, but it’s great for dragon age fans.
I’ve played about 8 hours today and I’m so relieved it’s actually good. SkillUps review had me a little worried but I honestly don’t agree at all with his complaints. It’s got its hooks in me already and I’m enjoying it immensely. Just goes to show you should ignore reviewers and make up your own mind. The only negative so far is the voice acting has been a bit hit and miss and some of the dialogue is a little cheesy in places.
I purchased this game as I want to find out for myself whether it’s good or not. I actually really enjoyed Mass Effect Andromeda, Diablo 4 and Starfield. So I have a feeling I’ll enjoy this too. I’m 55 years old, so maybe my age has something to do with it. I’ve been gaming since I was a young kid and can really appreciate the genius that goes into today’s games. 🙂
LOL! We're the same age. I've been playing video games since "Santa" brought us an Atari 2600 back in 1978. I'm about 7 hours into Dragon Age Veilguard and love it so far!
I feel this is a thing where Games that are hated on by many seem to be liked a lot by older gen. Maybe our perspective is just different as we started with such simple games and can see them for the complex beasts they have become now. And appreciate and enjoy them more because of it.
A tiny bit younger here but still part of the older gamers demographics, and I'm enjoying Veilguard so far. I went through a 'purist' arc in my mid 20s to mid 30s and would have most likely dissed the game back then for being too 'casual' and mainstream and not a traditionnal cRPG. Like I did with Origins when it came out, calling it a betrayal to Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Night's legacy, before giving it a real chance a year after its release and like it a lot... Yeah I used to call 'filthy casuals ruining our games' today's Origins fans who thinks of themselves as the betrayed old guard. Oh the irony. I'm gonna be a bit selfish for a here for a second because the industry in its current state is being very rough to its most precious contributors, i.e programmers, artists and writers, with mass layoffs, terrible working conditions and reports of abuse coming weekly. But from a gamer's perspective the offer has never been so diverse and filled with gems. As an old rpg fan I can play brand new old style cprgs like the Pillars of Eternity series, Tyranny, the Pathfinder games, Rogue Trader... most JRPGs get an English translation now (and that's why people trying to bury DQ III 2DHD upcoming remake for a few pixels covering a low res sprite's ass like they're trying with Veilguard are so out of touch, we would have taken this a thousand times over not getting a western release at all back then!). And of course there are big budget mainstream and more action oriented titles like Veilguard. Oh and retro gaming is a thing too. Yes, Veiguard is obviously made for a wide audience, yes it comes with all the rounded edges and limits that a marketing department will impose on the creative team of a project of that size and budget but even so you cannot in all honesty pretend that the people who worked on it didn't put a lot of their souls and passion in it. It is still very palpable, even under its obvious mainstream presentation. It is still a work of passion, despite EA only seeing it as a source of profits. I can understand that some may not enjoy playing this game, we all have our preferences, but calling it bad, a "mess" or a disaster couldn't be more disconnected from reality.
Love your channel man, you have seriouslyyyyyy underrated content. Easy to listen to radio voice, very clear in what you're saying, and best of all, good vibes. Keep up the great content!
Ive put about 8hrs in so far, and Im loving it. Took a few hours to sort of get into the combat and understand it, and combat felt like a slow burn to start, but after unlocking a few abilities everything is just superb.
Just stopped at 2 AM after starting at 12 PM, and also gave my wife some time to get her character created and play through the prologue. I'm really enjoying the game so far. I'm really surprised at how much time you can spend exploring, and I've even started to do some companion quests and storylines, and I've noticed some faction side quests popping up too. Definitely getting some sleep and then back at it again tomorrow!
Very impressed with the Fidelity graphics mode being super stable on the XBox Series X. Additionally, the gameplay is enjoyable, very Mass Effect-like. On top of that, I love DragonAge. The cherry on top, it's BioWare, & their games are preem.
What I dislike and I’m seeing it more often now is that game reviews are becoming almost political with reviewers are either ridiculously overly positive or extremely unfairly negative. Reviewers can’t give a fair and balanced review showing both the pros and cons with fear of being thrown into one ‘camp’. No game is perfect and no game is a complete failure either.
@@animegamergeek1427 Not heard of their channels but I’ll definitely check them out. Think personal opinions get mixed with reviews. It’s perfectly reasonable to say you dislike a game due to personal taste but still recognise it’s a great game for its target audience and give it the positive review it deserves.
@@RedDeadQuartermaster yeah, it's a mixed bag out there. Those two I mentioned have a balanced view. I don't remember if i finished watching all of Mortismal's review, but Kala Elizabeth loves the game & also recognizes some things she dislikes. Too bad that often when someone has anything positive about Veilguard, they're regarded as shills & whatnot, even when they recognize the negative, too.
As expected, I’m really enjoying this game. I’m an Antivan Crow mage that’s working to be a spellblade, and the mage combat is SO MUCH BETTER than what it was in inquisition. This might be my GoTY depending on how the rest of the game goes
I'm also having a blast. Combat is great. Voice acting thus far is solid. Graphics are clean and very polished. Controls are smooth and responsive. Story TBD upon further play. 4 those that don't like it, quit crying, y'all sound like a conglomerate of divas who're complaining simply b/c Bioware didn't cater 2 your standards. Take the game 4 what it is, immerse yourself in your character & simply enjoy.
The game's concurrent player max in 24hours is 70k player in steam which is not great for example Space marine 2 was 220k concurrent player when it launch and it was sold 200mil copies so based on this number veilguard sold about 700k copies and consider Space marine 2 is AA game and veilguard is AAA game I consider this a massive flop
@@rgcazothe incels are putting down actual criticisms. I think the main thing is it’s not really a dragon age game. Or seems to be. Not cause of “woke” stuff, cause of bad Disney marvel writing. So it seems! Idk for sure cause I’ve been on the fence
3 hurrays for Renfail!! So refreshing to see someone PRAISING the game instead of hating it! Also enjoying the hell out of the game, and to me its also a BRILLIANT comeback for Bioware.
Thanks for your genuin and unbiased opinion. So sick of the loud minority trying to destroy the game. Bioware and EA made creative choice, but ultimatly its a very good game. It may not be for everyone, and no, its NOT Origin. Still, Veilguard is a magnificent modern game that i truly enjoy.
Im glad that the game is doing well, but they are definitely trying to change the narrative to it being terrible. Most of the reviews on Steam have less than an hour of playtime so they can give it a bad score and refund it right after. I just dont understand why people care so much about other people liking something they don't and to go to that level of extreme.
Some people are just sad individuals who want to watch the world burn. You can not review a game like this in an hour or two. And anyone with a brain knows this. True gamers know this. I also really dislike Steams review process. I don't think they should allow reviews like that. 2 hours is laughable. Game on gamers. Be good to each other out there. I spent 2 hours in character customization. I'm just saying. Enjoy what you play. Play what you enjoy.
@davidludwig7501 I agree they shouldn't allow someone to leave a review with less than an hour playtime but especially if they refunded the game. They are just mad that people can like a game that they hate and will do anything to push their own narrative. Imagine caring so much that you go through the process of buying a game to say you hate it and then going through the process of trying to get your money back. You would think their time could be used for a lot better things 😆. Glad there are people that still believe in the right to have your own opinion. There will be people that love this game and some that won't but that doesn't mean either one is right or wrong.
Someone bought the game only to leave a negative review? What kind of twisted person does this and for what reason? What possible reason could there be for that?
I don’t expect everyone to like this game and will have their own personal issues . I respect that , as long the people that might not like the game for various and valid reasons , don’t put people down that disagree with you and really enjoy the game. If not for you, move on but I draw the line when people attack and try to force their negative views and feel these are the only valid views of a game.
Asmongold's little sundown town possie tried to to bully everyone in the discussions and destroy the game. But nope, the game is exceeding expectations
@@ehenningsen What are you even talking about, that’s so intellectually dishonest. All of his criticism has been about it looking like Shrek and the combat looking slow, and he’s going to cover it regardless so pretty much par for the discourse.
I tuned in on his stream for a couple of minutes, just out of curiosity, and guess what, he really looked like he was having fun. Of course he's gonna trash the game, because that's what his community wants to hear, but if he were honest with himself and his viewers he'd say that he actually had a good time playing Veilguard.
I played a few hours and anyone that says the combat is bad, they're being disingenuous if they like games like God of War and Dark Souls. Matty seems to have fallen into the grifter trap, I'm really disappointed in him. I understand if you want something different, then say that and not "game bad cuz not what I wanted". I'm playing on Nightmare and it feels kinda like Dark Souls. Once I figure out the bosses patterns, I'm good to go so far.
I'm not playing it because I have alot on my plate and am trying to focus on my backlog. But I'm sure I'll catch it on sale at some point and have fun with it as a fan of the franchise. It reminds me of Mass Effect Andromeda. It wasn't rhe best entry in the series, but as a fan of the series it was still very fun to play.
Bought the Ea sub in pc to play this game and im impressed tbh!!! Love the rogue gameplay :D btw antes d ver el stream de hoy, no sabia que hablabas espanol ^_^
Some critiques are legitimate but most of them are such obvious transparent review bombing with not even an hour spent in the game. People complaining about too much woke content when they only spend 30min in the game and couldn't possibly even see any of it honestly. Haters can't stand any excitement and positive reactions to this game so much they even have to come into videos like this to whine and downvote them. Really sad group of people. I urge everyone who's on the fence to try out the game for themselves and make up their own minds, and if you end up not liking it that's fair but judge honestly for yourself. Don't wait for others to tell you what to think, think for yourself! And to DA fans, enjoy the game it's a great one!
@random33E Well I'll say this, the reviews on steam DO show what a person likes, and it's going great. Oh, same thing on Xbox and ps5... You were saying?
For the first hour and half I played, I'm enjoying it. Only early issue I had was that it took almost 15 mins to compile shaders lol. Other than that, the game is gorgeous. I got this this comment from a clip I uploaded on the tiktok: "I wanted to buy this game so bad but I cannot give into the woke virtual signaling not even subtle about it trash love the series" 🤦♂️
Too Many Haters on RUclips when it comes to BioWare. It gets picked apart more than any other game studio. And when the same review play other games they give a favourable review are…. Meh… fine. I don’t know. People have an impossible expectation to BioWare that any game would never be enough.
I’ve read/viewed all the positive and very negative reviews of this game. I’m going to buy it and be neutral about it. I am frankly very curious. I’ve never played Dragon age as I was in a video game timeout before.
I’m glad you’re enjoying it and I don’t doubt that you enjoy it allot but from a more general perspective as someone who has never played a dragon age game the whole culture war around it has made it very frustrating when considering whether or not I should buy the game because it feels like the anti-woke people are going to hate it either way so it’s hard to differentiate between people who have genuine criticisms about gameplay aspects they don’t enjoy or criticism of the writing and people who have an agenda. On the other hand I see allot of people that as a response to this are giving nothing but praise to the game and talking about how they want it to succeed due to the backlash by the anti-woke group, so when someone talks extremely positively about it I’m not sure if that’s influenced by wanting to counter the agenda of the anti-woke group. Fans of a game want it to succeed either way but the bias is made even worse when you have an outside group attack it unjustly. Personally my favourite game is BG3 and that game would be probably be considered very ‘woke’ so I don’t care about that, I just care if it’s a good game or not and it’s hard to determine that when there’s a culture war sorrounding the game.
Only played for like an hour and a half but the combat is great. Been playing god of war ragnarok on pc also and it’s very reminiscent in the best ways. Also looks incredible maxed out in 4k.
I’ll break the mold here. Got a copy free. Stopped about 10hrs in. The writing is….awful. Glad others like it, but Origins and Inquisition are much better. Really for me it’s the change in gameplay from the others. I prefer Origins complexities vs this. If I want action RPG, I’ll play Souls or Elden Ring.
@@windebiesteultima3317 theres so much discourse available on that already, youre trolling right? maybe you arent just paying attention or reading them cause it might hurt your feelings about this game. my personal take; The writing is disney pg-13 level of quality, companions always finishes each others sentences, companions have no awareness to their sorroundings, hardlings personality is like a 12y shy child, the asian elf explain or talks like shes reading you goodnight kidde story, your rook's dialog options just treats your companions/side cast like children, overall the story is tiring to get through combined with linear story forcing you to get past pg-10 level of puzzles.
So if Asmongold plays it and gives it a 6-7, says the game is much better than he expected, as he expected to give it a 4-5, but was surprised it's much better. Said he plans to keep playing it and see how it goes.
Thank you for giving an honest review of the game, people nowadays just love to hate and want other people to hate as well, it’s so exhausting and immature
Is gear locked to the faction you choose?? Like the style or look of the gear?? Played a couple hours this morning before work and really enjoyed it!! Been waiting for this video all day popped into the stream on and off the wig is a great touch get that rage bait going!! Haha
I have not bought this game yet. Today is Halloween, which is the only holiday I take seriously. I took a half day off work, got lunch, bought some bourbon and rum at Total Wine, and camped out at a local wine bar for the rest of the day. It is a friendly place with a good crowd of regulars. Many of us bought bottles to share with the crowd there. I bought a bottle of Yalumba Antique Muscat, which is a wine that I have loved since the 1990s, and I was happy to share it with others. The experience I had today, interacting with real people over some fine booze, cannot be topped by any video game, not even a great masterpiece. No matter how much we love video games, it is good to realize that there are other important things in life. I will never give up Halloween for a video game. As for the new Dragon Age game, I'm still interested, but I probably won't have time to consider it until next week. The major potential barrier I have is the combat, so I would like to pose some questions to the community here. I have been a gamer since the late 1970s. I have tried time and time again to get into games that feature action combat, and I have come to the conclusion that there is no way that I will ever come to terms with this game mechanic. I would much prefer a combat system like Dragon Age: Origins. However, I can tolerate action combat in a game if the combat can be effectively trivialized and/or bypassed, and I like the other elements of the game. Fallout: New Vegas, which is a game that features action combat, is on my top 10 list of favorite games of all time despite the fact that I don't like the combat. For the most part, combat in that game is quick and easy, and I actually like how, in the early game, difficult monsters are used to gate off areas in order to encourage the player to take a particular path. It's a good way of encouraging the player to jump on the railroad without forcing the issue. I have heard that the new Dragon Age game has a lot of customization options, including a very easy difficulty mode for the combat and a god mode. If this allows me to effectively bypass or short-circuit the action combat and turn the game into Dragon Age: The Walking Simulator, then there is a good chance that I will be perfectly satisfied. The question I'm asking to other action-combat-haters out there is: Can the combat be trivialized to the point of requiring little or no engagement so that I can occupy myself with the story, characters, and setting? Also, is there a cheat console so that I can cheat-kill enemies if I just don't feel like dealing with them? I sometimes use this in Skyrim to get rid of annoying dragons. The answers to these questions will likely determine whether I break my more-than-decade-long boycott of Electronic Arts and buy this game.
@@Bronwyn031 I tend to leave long comments. I've only played Origins. I have not played Dragon Age 2 or Inquisition because I refuse to buy games with the sort of DRM that EA has put on those. (I'm a PC gamer - I haven't owned a console since the Atari 2600.) Since EA didn't put the DRM on Veilguard, I'm considering it. If EA ever removes the DRM from 2 and Inquisition, then I'll consider them, though their combat systems look questionable to me. If I take up Veilguard without playing those, I suppose I'll have to read some summaries of their stories first. The combat system in Origins and other earlier BioWare games, such as Baldur's Gate, works for me, though combat is never my favorite part of a game. Action doesn't work for me unless I can trivialize it to the point of minimal engagement, i.e. Skyrim.
@@JeannieLove The game would sink or swim on the story, setting, and exploration. I like narrative games, such as walking simulators, so that might be enough for me. The idea of Dragon Age: The Walking Simulator sounds rather appealing. These things are highly subjective, so I would probably have to try it out for myself and hope that the story clicks with me. I really would prefer an Origins-style system, but that ship has long since sailed. If I want combat of the sort that I enjoy, I can always play Baldur's Gate 3 or any of the old school, 1990s style CRPGs from Spiderweb Software.
Ive played maybe 10-15 hours in the game and the game is just ok its not bad and its not a dragon age game the dark gritty elements and tone isn't there. Compared to those bioware games of the past out wat ive played so far it pales in comparison. The writing is very simple and not very good the only dialogue tht i can say is interesting so far is with solas, it feels like the game as a whole is always trying to break down and reiterate things that it doesn't need to like it's treating you like a child. There are issues i have with the combat but they are minor. The biggest problems with this game is writing, choices, character design, snd lack of immersion. But it is a decent game if im not thinking of it as a dragon age game.
The original DA had some questionable player decisions and the sequel was just awful. Inquisition was my GOTY and Veilguard is more of Inquisition. So, for me... that's all I could've asked for.
"peak" of bioware.... no way are you actually comparing this to baldurs gate, mass effect, even da:o..... this reeks of marketing, sorry. not trying to be negative
Man same, I love this guy and his videos and just how he explains things. But I tried this game and its just not the story or kinda bioware games I loved.
Ffs why does everyone think everything is a conspiracy. There are a lot of people barking like small dogs about specific issues that conservatives get hung up on. That takes up all the space. Rest of the people enjoy the game, but then that’s a conspiracy. I don’t understand today’s discourse…
Ppl saying there is nothing dark in the game, im like, are we playing the same game? there is blood, the Crows companion literally brutally impales someone right when you meet him, feels like i'm taking crazy pills. The ppl crying about dishonesty in reviews are the same ppl that will review bomb games without even playing them, only others need to be held to a higher standard not themselves.
i think the majority of them didn't even played the other DA, after the origins we did tone down the dark themes, lets not forget the under dark missions did touch on some well not nice topics.
Unfortunately it just doesn't feel like a dragon age by that I mean story lore combat it fine. Whats with the no 2h sword? Can't really pick bad choice that have bad outcomes. Games all rights probably a soild 8/8.5. Having a rating 90 95% most of the time is crazy.
I have to get a new TV today as the old one is breaking rip. Otherwise I would get this day 1, from what I've seen, this looks like the best or 2nd best Dragon Age. Origins and DAI are my favorite but Origins combat is bad for todays standard imo, it was great when it came out, i'm sure. But yeah what I've seen from DA Veilguard (avoiding spoilers) has been awesome :)
How about everyone stops living in the past and judging it against the previous games. Play the game that has been presented to you and as the developer intended, and either enjoy it or don't. It's for the developer to decide how they want the game to be, not the people that enjoyed the first 3. If the developer decided to change the flavour, then so be it, you don't have to buy it. If you feel that passionately about how the game "should" be, then maybe you should have gotten a job at Bioware and helped steer its direction. Critique it for what it is, but don't live in the past and judge it against what the previous games were. Times have changed, things have moved on. We can't stand in the way of progress whether we like it or not.
I agree that we shouldn't live in the past. But I think fair comparisons are fine and good, as long as it is fair. Bioware makes certain comparisons themselves, I can tell the combat is this good because they learned from DA2 and DAI.
Before playing it, I was disappointed by the "pixar" style of the characters and the lighter tone in general. But now that I played it, I don't even bother with this anymore, because this game is truly amazing. I've seen people that never played it and some butthurt reviewers trying to use the writing as some kind of downside or deal breaker for the game, when in reality it is one of its best features along with the gameplay. Really great what BioWare is delivering with this one.
I approve of representation in gaming. I think it's been done really well in some games. I think of characters like Parvati in the outer worlds or Max in Life is Strange or, Sirona in Hogwarts Legacy. Veilguard however, clearly took a different tact with Tash. As far as I can tell Tash just seems to solely exist as a vehicle for the Bioware team to hamfistedly convey their views on gender. This is ironically actually a dehumanizing and imo counterproductive way to advance their views on gender and sexuality. Not only that, it's grating for players to be preached at like little kids. I have no problem with calling people by a different pronoun but frankly I don't need or want a chracter arc which seems to present more like corporate sensitivity training in my medieval dark fantasy. Instead of making Tash a fully realized and well rounded individual they made them a one dimensional caricature who's sole purpose is to preach about being a they and not a she. This I suspect, much more than Tash's gender fluidity, is what most people are reacting to with such distaste. There's a difference between being progressive and being woke and Bioware seems to have crossed that line with how they wrote Tash.
@@Renfailit’s the dialogue and story. I have heard and read the positives but just about a large majority point to the dialogue and story as weaknesses
This is my first Dragon Age game. I played for a bit and it looks like a really good game so far! The intro is great and the world looks beautiful! I’m playing as an Dwarf - Warrior/Slayer so far the combat feels good! I’m curious for the rest of this game.
Is being ‘easy to please’ a good thing when reviewing a product ? If I was buying a car and the salesman said it’s a good car, but I’ll drive anything. It wouldn’t leave me feeling very confident.
I played an hour of the game and the way you can create your character and with so much detail is amazing. I chose a rogue character as you can do a magic archer, similar to Dragons Dogma!
yeah I'm LOVING the rogue
How did you do the search thing in blue for Dragon's Dogma or is that automatic? Pretty nice
I remember people said that about DA:2 when it came out. The art style.
Thats what I thought too but it is actually feels darker then Inquisition. The first trailer that was super colorfoul feels kind of misleading now.
Somehow, I’m almost at level 15 and I’ve been exploring and taking my time. This game is easy to get lost in and just have a lot fun.
Indeed it is
I was able to play for 4 hours and so far I’m having a great time! 😊
Awesome 👌
I disagreed on Starfield (strongly), but I do genuinely enjoy your positivity and approach to covering games. It's a great time to be in this hobby, and I appreciate the joy you project. 🤙
Cheers
That's the spirit. It's the next evolution of the franchise, and there's no reason to stay stuck in the past
Im more scared that I won't like the linear levels instead of the DAI open worlds.
@@savantfool7123 I understand! Maybe watch some gameplay? And wait until it goes on sale - Black Friday in a month!
Me too. I enjoyed that about DAI. @@savantfool7123
That bar scene = swoon
Im playing as an elven mage veil jumper leaning towards spell blade the story is fun so far and characters are interesting. As a Dragon Age big fan I'm happy to back in this world i watched the Dragon Age animated series leading into this for my countdown
Nice!

Have fun on Saturday!
hey question about the spell blade. what kind of gameplay do you start with. do you start with more rogue/mage hybrid or is the starting playstyle more classic mage and you unlock the spec later? if so, how much later? really interested in trying that class :)
I could only play for an hour or so this morning, before work...I'm loving it so far.
its a good game
Same here!
I played yesterday and am up bright and early so I can steal some time before work. Loved it that much. I'm a tough date. Lol So a new game that pulls me away from my comfort zone games this way means something for me anyway. Love the combat, the storyline, my party... my Rook looks awesome... it all works for me.
That's the spirit
PS: there is one negative though. The T & A sli9dres are asinine ridiculous. I'm annoyed at Bioware for that.
Awesomesauce
I'm loving it. Really going to take my time with this one and I'm already thinking of what class/type of character to play next.
Oh I'll go mage for round 2
Glad I play and judge the game myself and I am liking it as a big dragon age fan

It's still an absolutely awesome game though.

It is a very good sign, indeed!
Glad you're enjoying it!
It's a good sign when a game can hook you!
Same age...Game is abomination..it suck ass...

It really is
Just stopped at 2 AM after starting at 12 PM, and also gave my wife some time to get her character created and play through the prologue. I'm really enjoying the game so far. I'm really surprised at how much time you can spend exploring, and I've even started to do some companion quests and storylines, and I've noticed some faction side quests popping up too. Definitely getting some sleep and then back at it again tomorrow!
That's the spirit. It's a long game with a lot to offer.
Very impressed with the Fidelity graphics mode being super stable on the XBox Series X. Additionally, the gameplay is enjoyable, very Mass Effect-like. On top of that, I love DragonAge. The cherry on top, it's BioWare, & their games are preem.
Absolutely 💯
What I dislike and I’m seeing it more often now is that game reviews are becoming almost political with reviewers are either ridiculously overly positive or extremely unfairly negative.
Reviewers can’t give a fair and balanced review showing both the pros and cons with fear of being thrown into one ‘camp’.
No game is perfect and no game is a complete failure either.
I have yet to see anything I disliked. Does that mean it's a perfect game? Nope. But for ME, I don't have a single thing I dislike about it.
Kala Elizabeth & Mortismal (probably misspelled it 😂) give good reviews that shows what they like & dislike

@@RedDeadQuartermaster yeah, it's a mixed bag out there. Those two I mentioned have a balanced view.

It doesn't need to be Origin. That was 20 years ago. This is irs own thing and it's great
Im glad that the game is doing well, but they are definitely trying to change the narrative to it being terrible. Most of the reviews on Steam have less than an hour of playtime so they can give it a bad score and refund it right after. I just dont understand why people care so much about other people liking something they don't and to go to that level of extreme.
Some people just want to be unhappy
It's just people coping and seething about their god losing more and more support.
😂

This. Played 6 hours, but I’m trying all three classes before I go too far
You have to decide for yourself
Coming from someone who has never played a Dragon Age game, I've had a blast so far. I could care less about the agendas.

Sheesh! I don't think you typed enough! But I'm currently loving Veilguard! If you liked Inquisition you'll like Veilguard.
Yeah, you can play on the easiest difficulty and choose God Mode. But I don't know how you could enjoy the game like that. You do you though.
I feel the same way!!!
Cheers
i flagged some of those negative reviews as being fraudulent, what’s funny is i’m pretty sure the first one i flagged was from the guy you pointed out
Could be!
How does the combat compare to Origins? I haven't played since then.
This is modern. I MUCH prefer this system. I like moving forward, not looking back.
I'm playing it and love it so far
Nice! Keep having fun!
@@DerelictSong word, but also not everything has to be morbidly dark all the time.
It's definitely got some darkness
Love this game so far too bro… it’s such a beautiful game as well.
Cheers, it’s a real looker.
Having a blast
@@RenfailGood to hear!
I am going to wait until your full review to commit to a game looks good so far 😅
Nice review, brother.
Cheers.
I'm loving the game
Indeed
Absolutely
It's a damned good time
I feel like the game is like ME2 and ME3 but fantasy
It's Bioware and I love it
I approve of representation in gaming.
Anyone using woke as a negative disqualifies their whole opinion immedietly. FYI
it's hard because I hear the dialogue is cringy. Played and beat every Dragon Age game and I am a big fan. Decisions...decisions...decisions
If you are a big fan then what are you waiting for. Other people's opinions shouldn't matter, get on it and go have fun
Hope you enjoy it!
It’s my first one too!! I’m with you there.
@ Have fun! What class did you choose?
Sad for you, this isnt a dragon age game
Of course the game has negatives, but overall it is fun
I haven't found any, and yes it's fun
You talked the same way about New World but gave it’s a 7/10 so it’s a bit confusing to gauge how you feel.
These are his Early thoughts/First Impressions. Check back when he finishes the game, he'll have a review.
Is being ‘easy to please’ a good thing when reviewing a product ?
If I was buying a car and the salesman said it’s a good car, but I’ll drive anything. It wouldn’t leave me feeling very confident.
W take I’m enjoying it
Most people are!
I agree 100% Ren, lm loving the game so far....
hear hear!
