I like how he says I'll use this spell to regenerate the land when he gets it. Like G you KNOW what a Meteor storm would DO to the planet? lmao That's not regenerative
The item we got after defeating Maxwell, the Spirit Robe, is Raine's ultimate armor in terms of defense. It lacks any INT but resists ALL ELEMENTS. Raine in fact has a combination of equipment that makes her FULLY IMMUNE to ALL ELEMENTS if you add in a Reflect Ring and the Persian boots accessories. The gem that Maxwell gives you, the Turquoise, is disgustingly good. Take a Holy Symbol and a Spirit Symbol, put them into one item and the turquoise is the result. Give it to Raine with a Fairie ring, you've already won.
This is similar to what I used for her in the Coliseum. Spirit Robe, Persian Boots and I forget the other accessory that I had, but I had the Concentrate skill on her as well and basically just lol'd my way through each fight. "Hey, thanks for the healies, Crush Tortoise!"
Pokesurvivor Very important question so do people in the world just say "Oh you want to help us thanks.... OH you don't have the derris emblem so we will just wait here
Pokesurvivor the world ends tomorrow! But first! Let's go on a vacation, visit a place on the other side of the world, gamble for a week, watch a play, visit all relatives, play soccer..!
The lines said in the female scene in the Hot Springs are some translated lines of the opening for the Japanese Gamecube version of Tales of Symphonia, "Starry Heavens" by day after tomorrow
Regalsoulslayer I won't judge you need ALL your party members in order to face maxwell and a lot of players (myself included) head to the final battle immediately
24:19 Considering all the times you called her Squishy, I'm shocked this is the first time you went for that joke. Especially since the first thing you said about her when you got her was "Sheena is yummy"
to be honest though having to drop everything for side quests is basically a Tales of Tradition. Without spoiling anything I remember abyss being especially bad with it to the point that you get more sidequests by viewing a cutscene right before you enter the final boss's area
This doesn't occur in Tales of Graces f. The moment you can get to the actual final dungeon (this game pulls this trick on you like 3 times) all remaining sidequests open and doing them makes sense in the plot because the party basically talks about making sure to prepare before entering the final dungeon. I'm not sure if it happens in the Lineages and Legacies (basically an epilogue) part of the game though.
I think it was. I have the GCN version and I do remember getting that scene (or at least /a/ later scene with Virginia) in at least one playthrough. It might only appear if you complete a certain objective or view it at a certain point, though.
Not to oppose Masae, but I feel like the side quests are more for the repeat players. First time players wouldn't know about stuff like that. Only people who explore the heck out of the game, and go through it at different times would would know about it.
I knew it couldn't have been Virginia in the contrived "trial of faith". We saw her diary and Raine vowed to overcome her hatred for her parents for abandoning her and Gents to a world without them, and for facing prejudice just for existing.
The scene at the Hot Springs where the females are talking together, they actually are lyrics! They're translated lyrics of the song "Soshite Boku Dekiru Koto", which is the PS2 opening of Tales of Symphonia in Japan. Pretty sure it is in the PS3 version of this game in Japan as well. Also, the scene where everyone returns to fight Pronyma from their traps, an orchestrated version of the same song is played!
One thing I always found odd is that when the Tower of Salvation was crumbling that only Heimdall got hit. Shouldn't it affected all nearby towns, especially Mizuho since it's probably the closest to the tower? 13:36 I beleive they are singing the first line to the PS2 opening of the game. In the GC version they sing the first line of Japanese GC opening "Starry Heavens". It saddens me that the PS2 version changed the theme song since I love Starry Heavens. 16:18 And to hear the awesome music one more time :D
Mizuho is at the very least protected by the mountains in between it and the tower, which likely took the brunt of the debris going North. Heimdall has no such vertical protection. That and Heimdall is almost as close to the Tower of Salvation as Mizuho is. On top of that, the only other nearby town is Ozette... and Ozette's already in ruins. Come to think of it, the Tower also falling into the Ozette region might have been what tipped Tabatha off to what was going on in Heimdall, since Altessa's house is right next door to Ozette.
He'll grant his secret art to the victor? So by that point that game would be over, so I guess we won't see it... but it'd be cool if Genis had a new spell in Dawn of the New World, showing that he won the duel and learned the art. The "your brain is pink" part might be a lost in translation thing, "pink" is slang for "lewd" in Japanese. "And he's a little old man, not quite what I was expecting". Funny, that kind of sums up [shot] Anyway, a pretty cool fight and summon.
For the Maxwell fight i always saved a U Attack for when he was about to use meteor storm. I when into the fight with Sheena, Regal, Lloyd, and Raine and controlled Regal because he's great at interrupting attacks/spells with Eagle Rage. Regal's his ex skill combo stops him from being interrupted in most cases. Got some crazy combos off on him. If u set Photon as a shortcut on your controlling character, that also helps a lot with interrupting Maxwell, Photon is busted.
7:01 First time I've seen Virgina be visted again. I couldn't visit her again in the GameCube version because she just wasn't in her house anymore when I did it
The "brain" that Genis and Regal were commenting about is probably Zelos' little one, which tends to be what he thinks with rather than his actual brain. There, I made a dirty joke to make you forget "Daisy on hard in her heart shaped box" from that Mario Party 6 stream.
I wonder if MasaeAnela isn't aware that Vinheim has a teleportation circle that can instantly send you back an forth through Derris Kharlan. I really hope she hasn't forgotten, as it's necessary to unlock it in order to access the game's ultimate secret dungeon and boss, which I really want to see her do.
Is Mithos' former pact with the summon spirits ever discussed in-game? Obviously he broke the pact with them but do we ever get an explanation of WHAT he promised, or whatever?
Those two summon spirits probably came I to existance between the event os Symphonia and Phantasia. Probably because of the other Summon Spirit in Phantasia who's origin is explained at the end of Symphonia.
"She's squishy enough and not just for the obvious reason." MasaeAnela 2017 "We almost went down on that one." I'm very sorry but the innuendos that aren't meant to be innuendos are the best innuendos.
Isn't Maxwell the name of that god-incarnated-into-human from Tales of Xillia? Granted, I haven't played it in a long time or beaten it, but that name sounds super familiar.
We all know this was coming, don't whine, so just say it. It's the famous thing in all Tales games, the endgame sidequest hell. This is officially what it shall be called because it occurs on every if not most of the Tales games. 4:16 OOOOHHHHHHH METEOR STORM! Add that to the unison combo, you will not regret it. Also, finally the last summon spirit, Maxwell: Spirit of birth. You can't face Maxwell until you form a pact with Origin and obtain the Eternal Sword Masae. That is a total must obtain before facing Mithos mainly for completion reasons. Although it should be placed at a better timing but Endgame Sidequest Hells are necessary because this is usually the point where all sidequest chains that started during the game comes to an end and you get final character developments. Which is more the reason why the colosseum should not be saved for post game nor Abyssion.
Those of us that have played this game before know that...."he"...is coming up soon. You know who. The guy. The one. And he's not even the hardest boss in the PS3 version, either. These next few episodes are gonna be GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDDD for Masae rage lol
I'm colorblind, so when I first saw that his hair is yellow in the PS3 version, it really messed with me lol I thought it was just my eyes going "Nah, fuck you, man." If it turns out the Steam version is, like, pink? There will be blood. Fits of conniptions will be had.
i feel like when she gets to tales of zestiria (i think thats how you spell it) she is gonna be annoyed with the fire seraph (cant remember her name) because she makes puns most of the time
Wouldn't "wet blanket" be a better fit? XD I liked Milla better when she was being funny than when the plot was trying to emphasize her being badass all the time.
Zelos wanted a sexy view? Well, Exire is the sexiest view in the whole game. :D Wow, Masae, really getting into the long combos this time. And I have to say, very appropriate place to break out everyone favorite brother and sister unison attack. And yeah, you may recall how Raine didn't trust Sheena when she first joined. If one of them ends the battle very weak, poisoned or dead, you'll often get pretty catty dialogue between them. I still would love it if you at least showed a bunch of the ones you get while poisoned sometime. XD Maxwell: Trigger Milla Maxwell related comments. XD Unfortunately, this Maxwell is not her. (If you listen closely, it's actually Rodyle. XD ) But this fellow is quite a bit more whimsical than the dour old codger we meet in Tales of Xillia. His summon is not much use given Genis gets the same spell as a normal advanced tech, but it's always nice to pick up anyway just for that epic view. :)
23:14 Sheena learned *Summon: Birth* and that’s why, children, you were born the night after I found out I was pregnant! 😂😂😂 Also couldn’t Sheena just summon all the summon spirits? It would cause a lot of attention, but it would work.
Roland Kramer iwould, but i used to have it as a free trial, but i cannot afford the monthly pay, if that makes any sense. otherwise i would have kept it.
Ah yes- the WORST summon spirit- sure the damage is really good but it sucks for two different reasons; it's inaccurate as hell, and Genis get's the same spell-
TBH I can't stand how terribly this game handles its side quests. Apparently the developers were too stupid to know that hiding important plot details, conclusions to plot lines that started a while ago, entire character arcs, and important character development should not be put into obscure side quests hidden on the other side of the world right after the plot tells you to move forward. This is so backwards and player-unfriendly that it boggles the mind. It's one of the biggest things that keeps me from liking the game.
Milla can eventually gain the ability to jump three times into the air, skyrocketing her above the range where pretty much any enemy can hit her. And when she's casting she falls to the ground extremely slowly. So you can just jump out of enemy range and cast whatever AOE spells you want without worrying about any of your enemies.
Genis: Meteor Storm!
Maxwell: Oh that's adorable.
*Near party-wiping Meteor Storm*
He might as well have said "Hold my beer."
I like how he says I'll use this spell to regenerate the land when he gets it. Like G you KNOW what a Meteor storm would DO to the planet? lmao That's not regenerative
keero kamiya Well, to be fair, millions of trainers use Draco Meteor many times a day, but all the regions seem pretty fine *shrugs*
Genis: "Infinite power, grant me thy strength. Meteor Storm!!"
Maxwell: "That's cute lil punk, Try this on for size."
@@BlueKnight85 He is too young to drink.
Can I say that I think Genis' voice is adorable. Just way he says indignation is the best. Props to his voice actor.
10:41 I thought that the Wonder Chef would pop out of that stone.
... I was wrong. :'D

Plot twist: the dude in the hot spring is a secret boss.
TheHeroOfTomorrow I would not be surprised
We get the item that allows us to go to Mithos' doorstep... but do you want to know what's better than saving the world? SIDEQUESTS!
Pokesurvivor yep
Pokesurvivor Very important question so do people in the world just say "Oh you want to help us thanks.... OH you don't have the derris emblem so we will just wait here
Pokesurvivor the world ends tomorrow! But first! Let's go on a vacation, visit a place on the other side of the world, gamble for a week, watch a play, visit all relatives, play soccer..!
Well I mean if the world really were gonna end you'd want to do everything before then yeah? lol
Is it weird that I heard HCBailly's voice in my head as I read the OP...?
The lines said in the female scene in the Hot Springs are some translated lines of the opening for the Japanese Gamecube version of Tales of Symphonia, "Starry Heavens" by day after tomorrow
K ' actually, I think you mean the PS2 opening.
A sidequest video without Altamira? What sorcery is this!?
but not without "yeah, you thought we were done with this place, right?" ;)
Welcome back to Tales of Sidequests.
24:24 I wonder what you could possibly be talking about. There's nothing prevalent on Sheena's status screen that could possibly be referring too. XD
Man, coming back to this Maxwell after seeing Xillia's version of him is a real shocker.
Maxwell reminds me a lot of Master Roshi. Both are old powerful men that ride a spinny flying thing.
*'Cause this is FIILLEEEEEER! Filler night! A 40 hour story is just too long for a creative mind!*
The female scene is a reference to the translation of the opening theme "day after tomorrow".
Kendall Gray Day-after tomorrow is the bands name not the Songs It's the 2nd opening They're singing not the 1st I forget the name though
I don't know either. To lead you in the right direction, search "Tales of Symphonia openings". The second opening song will probably be there.
The name I mean
I beat this game 3 times and had no idea Maxwell existed.
Regalsoulslayer
I won't judge
you need ALL your party members in order to face maxwell
and a lot of players (myself included) head to the final battle immediately
Okay I know the timing for these side quests blows but between the hot springs scene and that Maxwell fight I'd say it's worth it
24:19 Considering all the times you called her Squishy, I'm shocked this is the first time you went for that joke. Especially since the first thing you said about her when you got her was "Sheena is yummy"
I'm kinda scared if Sheena is yummy means what I think it does. 😓
to be honest though having to drop everything for side quests is basically a Tales of Tradition. Without spoiling anything I remember abyss being especially bad with it to the point that you get more sidequests by viewing a cutscene right before you enter the final boss's area

Wait... if Sheena can summon gods.... and Genis has godlike powers.... does that mean Sheena can summon Genis?
The song the girls were singing was the English version of the theme song
Huh. That scene with Virginia was not in the Gamecube version. Nice to see that there's more scenes with her in later versions.
I think it was. I have the GCN version and I do remember getting that scene (or at least /a/ later scene with Virginia) in at least one playthrough. It might only appear if you complete a certain objective or view it at a certain point, though.

19:20 Good thing this was the one time Sheena survived
15:14 you can't tell me the land on the bottom doesnt look like a Google maps picture
I really want to hug Genis and Raine. They are really good citizens.
The scene at the Hot Springs where the females are talking together, they actually are lyrics!

I now have a mighty need to see what happens with Kratos at the hot springs.
3:40 Magic Duel! GET YOUR DECK READY! It's time, to .... play some Magic the Gathering!
One thing I always found odd is that when the Tower of Salvation was crumbling that only Heimdall got hit. Shouldn't it affected all nearby towns, especially Mizuho since it's probably the closest to the tower?

Anyway, a pretty cool fight and summon.
Maxwell is the avatar confirm
I didn't realise just how much of Tales of Xillia was inspired by this game
Sheena: Maxwell, please lend us your power!
Maxwell: Give me your power and I'll give you mine!
Lloyd: Hang on a sec...
I totally missed Maxwell. Good thing I'm doing a second playthrough.
Faced the darkness in everyone's hearts?
Welcome back to another episode of Tales of Kingdom Hearts!
XD
For the Maxwell fight i always saved a U Attack for when he was about to use meteor storm. I when into the fight with Sheena, Regal, Lloyd, and Raine and controlled Regal because he's great at interrupting attacks/spells with Eagle Rage. Regal's his ex skill combo stops him from being interrupted in most cases. Got some crazy combos off on him.

"Both you and your daughter." Raine says as Genis is *right behind her.* Way to forget your own brother.
I'm watching The Green Scorpion and Comicfoil colab Xillia, and the title of this episode made me think of Milla
7:01 First time I've seen Virgina be visted again. I couldn't visit her again in the GameCube version because she just wasn't in her house anymore when I did it
If you want to see maxwell show me that you are the avatar
The whole Sage side quest makes me cry on the inside. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
The "brain" that Genis and Regal were commenting about is probably Zelos' little one, which tends to be what he thinks with rather than his actual brain. There, I made a dirty joke to make you forget "Daisy on hard in her heart shaped box" from that Mario Party 6 stream.
And then you had to go and remind us of it by flat-out stating it. Nice job breaking it, hero.
Hey, excuuuuuuse me Princess. lol
Hopefully someone mentioned the songs the girls sing in the hot springs is the chorus to the japanese opening song for Symphonia
Is Mithos' former pact with the summon spirits ever discussed in-game? Obviously he broke the pact with them but do we ever get an explanation of WHAT he promised, or whatever?
... I would say that I wish that you could fight Maxwell immediately after Origin, but... Mithos, right, kinda forgot about his little stunt.
that was super close
With Maxwell acquired, I think that's every summon from Phantasia...well, except for Chameleon and Gremlin Lair, but those two are weird anyway.
Those two summon spirits probably came I to existance between the event os Symphonia and Phantasia. Probably because of the other Summon Spirit in Phantasia who's origin is explained at the end of Symphonia.
It's weird looking back at this Maxwell after playing Xillia...
"She's squishy enough and not just for the obvious reason." MasaeAnela 2017
"We almost went down on that one."
I'm very sorry but the innuendos that aren't meant to be innuendos are the best innuendos.
I think I know what's gonna happen next. Time to finish Abyssion's sidequest next time, it will be fun. >:3
Isn't Maxwell the name of that god-incarnated-into-human from Tales of Xillia? Granted, I haven't played it in a long time or beaten it, but that name sounds super familiar.
Kinda. Maxwell as one of the strongest summon spirits is kind of a Tales tradition, he was in Phantasia as well.
how are you able to do this if it is like you are on a time limit
20:19 Necrozma for Pokemon Stars confirmed?
Pokemon Stars won't be a thing, since we're getting Ultra Sun/Moon in Nov.
wait is that how genis got meteor storm in the gamecube version? i thought he got it in exire
Yes, Genis gets Meteor Storm this way in the Gamecube version too.
DracoFlame67 huh, cool I was mistaken
the episodes title reminds me of dont starve. GOD DAMMIT NOW IM IMAGINING MITHOS IN A FANCY OUTFIT ON ONE OF THOSE RICH PEOPLE CHAIRS!!
Me: Sheena is squishy.
Masae: Sheena is yummy :)
18:17 interesting pose, Lloyd

I'm guessing it'll be the so called 'Super Saiyan' version in this version since I think the modifications were made in the PS2 edition.
i feel like when she gets to tales of zestiria (i think thats how you spell it) she is gonna be annoyed with the fire seraph (cant remember her name) because she makes puns most of the time
6:33 WAIT NO. WERE ALMOST DONE? NUUUU
Genis: PK STAR STORM!!!!!!
you already did this
and then maxwell was lost in time until xillia
This is the Old Man Maxwell not Milla Maxwell from Tales of Xillia.
I loved Milla. Jude was about as interesting as soggy tofu, but Milla was legitimately fun, interesting, and DAMN funny.
Wouldn't "wet blanket" be a better fit? XD I liked Milla better when she was being funny than when the plot was trying to emphasize her being badass all the time.
Zelos wanted a sexy view? Well, Exire is the sexiest view in the whole game. :D
Wow, Masae, really getting into the long combos this time. And I have to say, very appropriate place to break out everyone favorite brother and sister unison attack. Theo Aremevano huh? Rodyle?
When I heard his introductory line in battle I noticed he shares his voice with Rodyle. XD
23:14
Sheena learned *Summon: Birth* and that’s why, children, you were born the night after I found out I was pregnant! 😂😂😂
Also couldn’t Sheena just summon all the summon spirits? It would cause a lot of attention, but it would work.
WHY IS MY SCREEN FREAKING OUT 2:13
Will you plat Tales of symphonia dawn of a new World
Milla looks different somehow, I just can't figure out what...
...The sky...
Maxwell? thats not the Maxwell i know and love :3
1:55 Oh, that's INNteresting?!?!?!
Is the guy from the first side-thing in Dawn of a New World?
Unless he cameos in the Katz missions (which I largely ignored when I played it), no. In fact, you never even go to Heimdall in the main story.
Maxwell who?
Milla maxwell?
No, it's pronounced "Sidequests of Symphonia"
Wait...THAT AIN'T MILLA!
That gliding kid model tho lol
That sort of thing can happen when you make a pact with the dude that controls matter I guess. XD
i hate it when ads pop up on my fave vids
Ads help your favourite RUclipsrs! They may be annoying, but they do serve a purpose.
get RUclips Red, it is better for the content creators and you won't get ads, getting an adblocker is just being a jerk
NeoDarkraiTV yeah i understand
Roland Kramer iwould, but i used to have it as a free trial, but i cannot afford the monthly pay, if that makes any sense. otherwise i would have kept it.
Ah yes- the WORST summon spirit- sure the damage is really good but it sucks for two different reasons; it's inaccurate as hell, and Genis get's the same spell-
apocalypsis x2 Meteor Storm XD
Only the guys are funny. CHUGGAACONROY reference!!!

Maxwell? But this isn't a blond girl who wields a sword and is incredibly broken postgame.
Broken post game? How so?
Milla can eventually gain the ability to jump three times into the air, skyrocketing her above the range where pretty much any enemy can hit her.
