They are saving the hitting for playoffs. It's clearly calculated and I'd agree with the strategy. They'll start to hit closet to playoffs against other good teams. Wear and tear is a real thing. Kane can attest to this.
Bouchard is okay but when he f*cks up, he reeeeeally f*cks up. And he doesn’t show Any desperation when he does. He seems so sluggish and “meh, who cares”
Outside shots are a waste on a modern powerplay as they proved with a record setting PP. The problem is they trying new strategies this year because Florida shut them down. If they go back to their old style they'll be back at the top.
@ramalama9030 that is such a simple way of looking at it. Outside shots on a powerplay have less value than a pass or even holding possession. An outside shot has a very low chance of going in and a high chance the other team will get a clear out of it. The goal of their record setting powerplay was keep possession and create or wait for defensive breakdowns. Only shoot when the chance to score is high. Basically what's better 5 10% chance shots with 30% zone time or 1 80% chance shot with 80% zone time? You get a higher% chance of scoring with that 1 shot with the added benefit of wearing down the other teams best defensive players with more zone time.
@ ……my issue is the Oilers demonstrate an inability to shoot when the lane is open……….passed up shots for a bunch of perimeter passes followed by a cross seam pass that gets intercepted! Sometimes you just shoot and ask questions later. Complicating a game is unnecessary when you stick to the basics ……like Ekholm said we sometimes try and pass the puck into the net instead of just shooting. I will say you may be smarter than Gretzky but even he said the Oilers need to simply things……what does that mean?
@ramalama9030 in the modern NHL you basically do have to pass the puck in the net. Goalies will save almost every straight up shot. Their problem isn't passing too much it's passing just to pass. Next time they're on the powerplay watch the other team. If the other team doesn't have to move much from an Oilers pass it was a pointless pass. But if the defense has to put effort in to cover the play it's a meaningful pass. The problem this year is that they aren't making the defense move. They need more give and goes. Right now they're making stationary passes.
Where does Savoie fit in this season genius?
He can fill in top 6 if there's an injury.
Bouchard would make a great forward and his defensive mistakes would not be so glaring.
You can tell Oilers haven't had a true OD in the modern NHL. None of you understand their role lol
Leave Jeff skinner alone!
Leave Skinner and Britney alone.
Jeff skinner is fine , Bouchard should be benched he is brutal, I would talk why isn’t Savoie up and how this team has absolutely no grit!
Total agree with you @MrHam... See if you can get a dozen stick and some stick tape for Bouchard. Easily worst player on Oilers!
Are you Bouchard’s grade school nemesis or something? Do you even watch the games?

Terrible take Mr Ham.

Trade Skinner for Hall.
Do you think Chicago would take that trade?
Bouchard would rather pass the puck than shoot……..the Oilers PP is perimeter passing followed by no shots taken.

@ ……..you can’t score if you don’t shoot…….remember when Gretzky said 100% of shots not taken result in zero goals?
