Demonstrates everything wrong with junior hockey in Canada, selfish self serving selection, including coach selection. appointing coach based on a thank you for your serve, not selecting 5-6 scores in CHL. Not selecting best goalie because the best were slightly smaller. In the end, politics.
Spoiled brats that needed a humbling experience in the worst way. You could just see their arrogance dissipate as the tourny went on. Especially Cowan. Got the sense he felt like gods gift to hockey, then he absolutely embarrassed himself during the disgraceful shootout against Latvia.
The tournament created as a self congratulatory slap on the back for Canada, has become a self flagellation spectacle for the amusement of other participating nations.
Oh, let me count the ways. Getting rid of Don Cherry for doing nothing, making players wear rainbow shirts instead of playing hockey, I could keep going forever but frankly it's just not worth my time anymore.
No discipline. The referees where not the greatest but the players where hot heads and no control by the coach. Very few of these players will advance to the NHL with the attitudes of these players. They where not the best players for the team. Many of these players should not have been on the team.
Consider the statement (a rather corrupt statement): I do not LIKE the way that you win. In competitive sense: the similarity between 'I do not like the way that you won't COMPARED TO 'I do not like THAT you won't is basically NO SIMILARITY WHATSOEVER! To NOT put in players WHO CAN SCORE GOALS reeks of pandering to the same sort of FAKE ALTRUISM that suggests, 'Hey like have all the kids skating around aimlessly, and let's not even count goals, and la, la, la, let's call this peace, WHEN IN FACT, it's only STUPIDITY.
After the battle, everyone is a general, including these guys (with all due respect). Too much of this is in the past tense with hindsight and it's not useful. But let's not forget that this is one tight tournament that is incredibly competitive for a medal. Let's also give the Czechs some credit. Their hockey system is beginning to perform like it did 1996-2005...five worlds, an Olympic gold and twice world junior champs. This is a country with a great hockey history all the way through and they are just reclaiming the respect they lost after that period.
The umbrella effect is the only way to look at this failure. Everything happened because of the woke roots at the top. To choose ANY allstar team based on 'rollplayers' who 'might get along best' and to choose a nepotistic coach with a losing record. You take the best players and let them be themselves.
This Canadian junior team reminds me of what certain college football fan bases use to say when they were good but not all that relevant. Take the Georgia Bulldogs from when they won their first national championship in 1980 until their consecutive titles in 2021 and '22. Always had good teams and came close-2017-but not until they got the right guy (Kirby Smart) as a head coach and finally getting all the truly elite talent in the state of Georgia to go to UGA, not Florida or Alabama, they've been the real deal in American college football. All came down to getting the right coach and best players which Canada didn't have in this tournament.
The USA women's team would've skated circles around these clowns and scored at will. I can picture Dave Cameron already after the loss. "We have no regrets and wouldn't have done anything differently. There's nothing I can do. I'm not the guy playing on the ice so what are you asking me for? It's two for one Tuesdays forget practice and see you downtown boys wooooooo"
A reflection on our country! Sucks!
Agree with Bruce, great observation, thanks guys, lots of fun.

The team itself, from coaches to players, were not the best picks by whoever makes those decisions. Hockey Canada needs an overhaul ...
Dubas ?

Future Toronto Maple leafs picks?
When they picked the team
They stunk out the joint.. 😢 The liberal government must have had a hand in it 😂😂😂🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
They, the liberal government might have forced the kids to wear tampons

Missing the net is the main reason .
Cant win that way .

Ryan Leonard showed more heart and grit than any Canadian player. Just low intensity all around.
Discipline, coaching,
Selection of players!
Coaching, just like whats wrong with the calgary flames

Out on a limb here, but Schaefer does not get hurt and the results would have been different. Does not change all else that is wrong.
Not good enough this year.
Penalties
Get over it we can’t win all the time and that a fact of life
Pretty simple Canada management chose the wrong players

What went wrong, they need to identify as women, and still get silver to the usa womens team, booooom!
