- Around-the-World phase IV, part 5: the longest flight of the whole trip, 2027 nautical miles from Hilo, Hawaii to Monterey, California, using 2 supplemental tanks in the cabin. Preparation included finding a day with tailwinds. First attempt failed, had to return to Hawaii after 90 minutes, as the HF radio malfunctioned. Too much fuel to land, had to burn fuel to decrease weight. Fixed the radio issue, and succeeded the next day.
My dad and I flew from Illinois to Germany in a Cessna 210 back in the early 2000's before he passed away from cancer (his bucket list) I had to get my private and instrument rating just to do it with him because of the Morphine he was taking for pain. That was a hairy flight also. Great job Sir!!!
Thank you Aviatore71!! Your story is amazing! Your dad is so lucky to have had a son like you, and vice-versa... The emotions of arriving in a different place, country or even continent in a small airplane are incomparable! Thank you for sharing your experience, and God bless you and your dad.
Illinois represent
Very beautiful of you to do with your father. I’m sure he felt and appreciated your love for him on that trip.
My father passed from cancer too. That was a really awesome and beautiful thing to do for and with your father. Thank you for sharing with us.
Solid play sir
Makes me think of how brave the pre satellite weather and nav pilots were.
What a journey, congratulations!
Brave or stupid. Brave sounds better though
Unaware and unafraid.
Cant be afraid of situations no survived to tell about
I worked with a gentleman back in 2001. He used to fly for Pan Am back in the 50's and 60's. He was a navigator and told stories of how they would navigate over the pacific using the stars just like the sailors of old. Once you got within 50 to 100 miles of large airports they could pick up a radio beacon they could use to true up their path. They were pretty good at it apparently as almost no planes were lost. He stated he spent most of the flights sleeping and would get woken up at a few intervals to do checks, overall he it was a great time he said.
There’s a book called In the Heart of the Sea: The Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex. It chronicles a voyage of a whaler in the early 1800s. It’s amazing how they could navigate such large distances without modern navigation and the amount of time it took. Their average trip length lasted 2 years at that time.
That is a "no joke" lifetime experience. Awesome job, sir.
@SHIV PATEL Yep, yep. . .met him probably 10 times over the past six/seven years. I flew out of Opa Locka and North Perry.
@@Spec62 is this guy an american?
I'm amazed that you got the fuel efficiency you did, hauling balls as big as yours.
My greatest respects for you, you are an example to follow because no matter your age, the most important thing is to have your dreams and fulfill them. Incredible prearrangement for inflight needs. Congratulations Captain Aviator.
Thank you for your thoughtful words, Ray!
Over 13 mpg traveling 160 mph - that's impressive.
What an amazing feat this is! Flying alone over the Pacific in a GA plane! Damn, hats off to you sir!

You are so cool! awesome flight! I can't imagine how it was difficult but so exiting!
He exhibited a kind understanding heart from start to finish. A positive display of teamwork between the ground controllers and the pilot. He viewed obstacles as challenges.
What an accomplishment!! Congratulations!

No room in that cockpit for your HUGE balls. Excellent job!!!
Awesome! I do cross oceans often, but with two HFs, two SATCOMs and CPDLC. You are really brave hehehe

This was so awesome to watch! Thanks for sharing.
Congratulations for your life adventure! "Living the dream"! As the pilot jet said, Good Job Mr. Wolf!!!
Obrigado Sr Jorge
I just love the way you show flight technicals. You should bring out a series somewhat like piloting 101.
Congrats on the journey
Congratulations on your adventure! My shop had the pleasure to perform the wiring and avionics upgrade for a round the world trip done in a Cessna Centurian. He ended up doing the last leg Hilo to Houston, TX with very favorable winds. Amazing and nerve wracking being a part of it.
Espetacular. Obrigado por dividir essa experiência.
Bons vôos.
Well done. Just came across your channel. Will follow the rest of the flight. Regards from South Africa.
Amazing!! Tks for share your vídeos!!

That was amazing! I've landed at Monterey a few times. Nice to see!
It's awesome what you did, serious technical and navigational skills are needed. Congratulations on a job well done, sir!
Thanks (obrigado?) Adriano!
Now that is the definition of a smart, yet ballsy pilot! Gratuliere zum fantastischen Flug, Herr Kapitän!
Was für ein Abenteuer! Großartig! Vielen Dank für das Video!
Danke fuer den feedback
Well done....a great achievement!
you´re amazing sr. You really inspire me.
86% is a low level of oxygenation in the blood, levels normal is a 95 or more
Love it!!! Thank you for sharing.
My respects sir what a great pilot you are .
What a great flight. I bet seeing the land after all that ocean was both very satisfying and reassuring at the same time. Nice touch withy the music as you arrived in California. Well deserved wine and dinner Sir! Subscribed.
Thanks MV, yessss, it was!
Great experience! Fantastic adventure. But you are crazy. ;-)
This is some fantastic flying
Amazing video! Can't wait to see more!
Nice video. Loved it. Thank you 👍🏻
Found your channel recently and it’s awesome doing such long flight in an aircraft like that. Even replicated one in my flight sim :) keep it up 👍
thanks ChrisFlyer!
Amazing that radios and headsets from 1942 still work!
I am your Colonel and I am proud of you, airman. Now get your logbook filled in.
Great job and video, vielen Dank for sharing!
I often flew over the see but never so long ! It’s always a challenge in VFR with a small plane single engine. And not with a glass cockpit which help a lot and without gps too.
Un super hombre!!!! Felicidades...desde Islas Canarias.
Gracias amigo/a. Pasamos en Tenerife Sur hace 4 anos, deberia hacer un video sobre ese vuelo ...
About to start my multi training in that plane, very impressive range with the extra tanks
Excellent inspiring adventure across large body of water with the happy landing at Monterrey, good job buddy
From the UK 🇬🇧
The unique idea is very respected. Tribute when you land safely!
Wonderful!!! I really enjoy it.
Respect you. Thanks for video.
Well done Sir !
Outstanding, and Congratulations!!!
Thank you so much 😀
Well done some achievement that very very well done thanks for sharing.
Congratulations!!!
Absolutely amazing. I fly jets to Hawaii at FL400 in 5 hours with very little extra fuel. I cannot imagine taking the trip in your plane for 12 hours.
M C foolhardy without ETOPS
I think you have that backwards. We don’t fly ETOPS and therefore can make alternates in either direction. Our ETPs ensure we can proceed to an appropriate alternate for engine failure, depressurization, or medical issues.
If we used an ETOPS route we would be in no-mans land.
M C waaay more involved with ETOPS than diverting. eg aircraft Mx for each trip, dispatchers, pilots and mechanics specially trained, certificated for ETOPS. Aircraft system anomalies noted and logged for each and every ETOPS flight of the entire fleet with ETOPS downgraded if necessary Etc etc
And we don’t do ETOPS crossings therefore none of that applies. Our circles overlap. 😀😀😀
These have a burn rate of approv 10.4gal/hr with both engines
I subscribed just to show my respect for your courage
This video needs more views! Very impressive flight and video, much respect. Congrats
Takes balls to do this. Good job sir!
Such a great adventure
I get so emotional when hearing "contact norcal approach", hope 1 day I can do such a wonderful flight as well!
Impressive flight done "old style" as they used to, before jets & modern "convieniences like satelite weather & radio. GOOD JOB.
Thanks Geo, well, I was cheating a bit compared to real "old style", had HF radio all the way, and a SatPhone, but without data link (no weather, as you said).
Nice flight ‼︎
2021 Viewers like me are happy to see you doing this, but jealous too because of corona! Truly once in a lifetime experience! Thanks for sharing your own personal experience, and having us along the virtual ride too :) Cheers
You're right, no more round-the-worls flights since Corona, but hope we'll be back to normal one day...
Wieder sehr schön gemacht! :-)
What a flight, good job
Love the 857D as the HF radio along with that antenna!
Once antenna straightened out, and long enough, worked amazingly well!
Truely epic, congrats.
This is just amazing
Great ferry flying.
Unbeleivable....oxygen portapotty, hf radio and antenna.....nice work!
