    I took delivery of a DA62 early this year. It’s a great airplane and just flew it with 3 200# guys plus bags 800 nm nonstop with almost an hour reserve. Both of these twins are amazing aircraft and lots of fun to hand fly!

    Wow, what an incredible flight in the 2023 Diamond DA42! The performance and capabilities of this aircraft are truly impressive. It's amazing how it maintains such a high cruise speed while being fuel-efficient. The avionics and features seem top-notch, making it a great option for pilots looking to transition into light jets. Thanks for sharing this in-depth

    That's a beautiful plane. I wish the rest of GA got with the times and used more advanced designs and technology like Diamond. For me, the fact that Diamond planes are all fiberglass, use Jet-A and have FADEC is a huge leg up on competition. They're simpler to fly, last forever and no rust issues.

    Rich, love your videos. I am disappointed how much planes cost. This is about $1.25 million, a G22 is similar, and a new Baron is almost $2 million? Good lord. I remember my former company buying a 1979 Baron 58 back around 1997 (so it was an 18 year old plane) for something like $180,000. I used to wait to be a pilot, my finances just haven't worked that I could afford it (training costs), and I'd have to probably be in a flying club on a 50 year old 172.

    Hello Rich, just a comment. You know who you remind me a lot of? Do you remember Bill Cox from the wide world flying videos about 25-30 years ago. I believe he was the editor of Plane and Pilot magazine. Well he was on those video series explaining the performance of many aircrafts and you two have the same style of explaining topics. Very impressive.

      @FlyingwithRich  Год назад +2

      Thanks. I take that as real compliment. I know Bill Cox well and read all his articles in Plane & Pilot when I was younger. I got to do his press demo in the new 172 back in the late 90’s with him - I had to pinch myself to believe I was flying with Bill Cox! Same with Richard Collins of Flying Magazine around that same year. Bill is based in SoCal so after I moved out here, I got to fly with him all the time - he was an amazing pilot for sure. Hopefully will be getting the chance to do a video in his Mooney soon. Thanks for the message!

    Cirrus set the flight training experience high by certifying their standardization pilots. This gives cirrus pilots confidence that they are operating the aircraft safely and proficiently. It's closer to the military framework that's a sequence based approach: do this first, then this, etc. There is very little ad libing. Does Diamond offer a similar standardized program of how to operate their aircraft? Otherwise, nice plane, curious to see how it ages.

Regular diesal runs great to. But I noticed that Bio Diesal the fuel burn is incredible like 15 to 20% better runs cooler to on exhaust coming out on my hand. TRY it my friend.

    From my understanding, the 1267lbs of useful load is only available if you don’t have the AC And TKS installed. Otherwise you are looking at a useful load of around 960lbs. With 50 gallons of Jet-A you are looking at 620lbs for passengers and bags.

    How does this aircraft compare to the 2006 DA42 you were flying before? Do you personally think it's worth getting a new one over a used one for the improvements DA42-VI improvements?

    • @FlyingwithRich
      @FlyingwithRich  Год назад +1

      I’m a proponent for new aircraft for sure and have sold a lot of new aircraft to people over the years who were very happy with new when they could have bought an earlier version for less. So much depends on how it will be used, tax situation, etc. I think under normal market conditions, if you plan to transition to a higher performance aircraft, better financial decision to buy used. I’m not sure that’s the case anymore with new aircraft being so hard to get, and such low production numbers. The older DA42 we have is a great airplane and at that price point for someone to buy and build multi time to upgrade to light jet is a very compelling value proposition to me.

  • @meitsme6
    @meitsme6 Год назад +1

    Definitely a hard decision between this and a new g6 22T considering you’re gonna get about 30 KTAS more on a couple more GPH. I would choose that over the diamond if I traveled solo a lot because of the time savings but if I had a family and lots of passengers often I’d probably go with the diamond for the extra useful load but slower speeds.

    I like the diamond d42 because it's one of the safest planes out there you can get it with a parachute if you like that type of stuff but what appeals to me the most is that unlike most twin aircraft the diamond the 42 can fly from point A to point B with just one engine most aircraft if you lose an engine you have to land at the nearest airport however the diamond if you lose an engine you land at your destination Airport.

    hi rich barrons 2 million why so dear cant you buy a citation mustang for that whats the better option

  • @ArizonaAirspace
    @ArizonaAirspace Год назад

    For 1.2 Million, you can buy a nice used Citation Jet or a Premier IA jet in good condition if you are going to upgrade into a jet. To me the cost of this light piston twin does not make any financial sense. You don’t need to fly a piston twin to fly a light jet. You just need to fly off SOE with an experienced jet pilot like myself. You are going to need SOE with an experienced jet pilot anyway in order to get insurance on your jet anyway. I started flying jets with less than 50 hours in a piston twin. In fact if you can afford it, you should get your multi engine rating in a light jet and skip training in a piston twin altogether if you are going to buy a light jet. You’ll never fly a piston twin anyway after getting your light jet.

    • @DonAv8s
      @DonAv8s Год назад

      You could buy a used jet but that doesn’t mean everyone has the ability to pay for jet , maintenance, annuals, fuel burn, programs, type ratings and recurrency. Then consider jet landing and holding fees. Jet aviation is not everyone’s goal.

  • @evanmcgrew400
