Rob and Trin
*What… you guys are already one film away from Infinity War!*
*Jeez u guys are way ahead*
Hey Rob&Trin idk if you have watched the show but i think it be cool to see yous react to Doctor Who 2005
It says at te very end of the credits that the guardians will return so, not a spoiler
@@professorfish4586 Where did you read that? Age of Ultron is way before infinity war.
@@fullmoonprepping4024 No Black Panther is one movie before infinity war, which is what they are watching…
Groot was not just in the same 'bubble' everyone else was in, the wood surrounding them was his whole body. He basically shielded them with his body and took the force of the entire explosion, so they would be safe.
Groot also died. The twig at the end isn't him. It's basically his seed/clone/kid.
@@nathanlawson313 did james gunn confirm that? I thought he just lost all of his branches so he became a baby
@@NuggetGX james gunn confirmed this when guardians 2 came out. baby groot is 100% not the same groot in mind or spirit and is more like an offspring. Rocket basically adopted his dead best friend's son.
@@spacezombie13 damn, thats sad 😭
@@NuggetGX yeah, it wasnt so well explained in the movie, but if you consider the logic of it and him being a baby in the future movies - he is more like a clone, offspring made from part of original Groot. And yeah, it was confirmed by James Gunn few times. They are connected, obviously, bot not exact same 'people', so og groot really did die here
I never thought a sociopathic raccoon and a tree that says only three words would ever move me to tears. Brilliant writing.
5 words
@@jestbone89 Ok technically four. I or once We, Am, Groot. What was the fifth word?
@@donpietruk1517 I/we am/are Groot
Peter didn't want to open the gift from his mom, because he wasn't ready to let go. Opening that package is the finality of her death being real, and her really being gone. He was trying to hold on. Not knowing what was in that package was kind of keeping her alive in his mind. He's been running around the galaxy, avoiding dealing with that loss, and by the end of the movie he's finally ready to deal with it and accept it, so he opened it.
Just like not taking her hand at the beginning. He wasn't ready to say goodbye, but he was a kid and didn't understand that avoiding reality isn't going to stop it. At the end, he was finally ready to say goodbye, and join his new family.
One thing to know - Groot did die protecting the others... and the thing in the plant is more like an "offspring" of Groot (the same way you'd take a clipping from a plant to grown a new one).
Not a lot of people were aware of the Guardians when this hit the theaters. And as you can tell, it was an instant smash hit. Hugh Hefner & Hail Hydra to you both.
As a kid of the 80’s I knew who Howard the Duck and Rocket Raccoon were. I loved animal heroes! Krypto was my dream dog. A strong friendly guardian with powers!! Fun times😂😂👍🏾✌🏾🖖🏾
I remmeber watching the trailer... like really? A tree and a racoon? Really Marvel? And the style was really different too... boy i enjoyed being soo wrong...
The moment when Quill dropped the Orb was actually unscripted. Chris Pratt just accidentally dropped it and they decided to keep it in.
That was Howard the Duck. He’s a Marvel character and even has his own movie
@@reynaldolorenzo8409 lol….I agree
@@reynaldolorenzo8409 Yeah but, Lea Thompson
Rob and Trin, I never seen or heard you two laugh so much during a movie. The sad emotions in the beginning to all the laughter throughout.
The duck at the end is Howard the duck from 1986 marvel movie
I wouldn't reference that movie, it's terrible, but the original comics from the 70's and 80's were quite good.
Merle Dixon looks cool with a blue face. Vin Diesel's voice was great for Groot. Bradley Cooper gave so much life to Rocket. This was a great Space Opera, and had me laughing so hard. So glad you guys picked this.
I'm happy you guys loved it. When I first saw it, it quickly shot up to my favourite Marvel movie. The humour and soundtrack is on point.
These 5 were destined to meet. Perfect chemistry. Like the humor, feelings and action in this film.
Absolutely loving the team!!
One thing that stood out to me was the fantastic art direction. The Nova pilots interlocking, Gamora and Quill in space, the effects of the Infinity Stone, it’s just beautiful. Also, did you ever think you’d be sad about an aggro raccoon & tree?
These films live sort of on their own timeline outside of the mainline Avengers movies.
Groot was the bubble is why he "died".
Guardians of the Galaxy is the best movie. It has no competition. Everything in this film is in the right tone, without extrapolating anything. The songs enter the heart and stay.
The post-credit scene was Howard The Duck 😂 That's a bad/good movie that might be fun to check out sometime. Idk if it'd be good for the channel but you might get a kick out of it.
So glad you both liked this movie so much! This, & the next 10 movies or so (a few before too) were the "sweet spot" of the MCU imo. It's going to be fun to continue this journey with you guys 😎
James Gunn had to have a cameo from Howard the Duck, because Howard is his favorite Marvel character and it's also one of his favorite Pre-MCU Marvel films.
Funny thing about the duck. I grew up in Eastern-Europe when the soviet union fell. We did not have comics in my childhood but i do remember getting a comic that featured Howard the Duck. So it's funny how Americans are totally oblivious to this character while being roughly familiar with the bigger comics.
Where it's the opposite for me. I knew nothing about the comics but i instantly recognized Howard.
PLEASE watch Howard the duck 🙏
I love the Guardians movies a lot too!
They always felt like a space DnD campaign to me, just the group and the things they do, their unique personalities and everything.
Love to see you guys enjoy these so much!
Oh yeah definite DnD vibes, the new DnD movie is just like this, its actually really good
The talking duck is Howard the Duck, which has a non-MCU movie from back in the ‘80’s. Worth a watch, kinda weird, but that’s what makes it worth watching.
Yep. It's wild to think that Howard the Duck is a Marvel character, but, amazingly, he is. And the dog is an Easter Egg too. He's Cosmo the Spacedog. Comic books are weird, y'all.
The scene where Chris Pratt dropped the orb while handing it to the collector was on accident but they left it in because it fit the character.
*We are Groot 😢*
it makes me cry every time…
Even though the overall plot elements were serious, the humor was tight and well-placed throughout. Rocket is frequently a fan favorite, as you can probably guess.
That scene with star lord fumbling the orb is just Chris pratt being uncoordinated. It wasn't in the script, but it fit the character so well they just kept it in.
One of the best reactors out there. Thank you for continuing your MCU journey. I love rewatching these movies with you. Thank you for the amazing reaction
Thank you so much, we are so happy we started this journey with these movies, zero regrets!!!
Much love from both of us!
This movie is the perfect example of how the make an ensemble cast film. It introduces an entire new roster of heroes and makes us care about each of them. They do all this while introducing the villain, some side characters (Yondu and the Ravagers) and give us our first real explanation of the Infinity Stones. All while keeping the action at a high pace, comedy in just the right doses and a killer soundtrack!
James Gunn is a brilliant director, he has now taken the job of head of all DC film (much like Kevin Feige does for Marvel). Marvel's loss is DC's gain Big Time. I will be honest, in my lifetime I can count on one hand the number of DC films I have enjoyed. I think Gunn is going to bring a golden age to DC cinema and I'm not mad about it.
This is one of my favorite Marvel films too. I still use ‘I am Groot’ for an answer to somebody’s questions just for a laugh. Amazing job by Vin Deasel using only 3 words and creating so many fans.
You will never again be able to hear "I Want You Back" without doing the Baby Groot dance, lol.
If you have watched Doctor who then you may not recognise that Nebula is Karen Gilliam, aka Amy Pond! She's very good at what she does.
Karen Gillan*
As usual that was quite the emotional watch-along with the two of you, so thanks for that.
This movie was a wonderful surprise for me when it came out, I don't know how they did it but they managed to make me care for characters that I had JUST met, let alone cry for Groot and Rocket, who only existed on a server somewhere, wow. And I'm not saying Amazon nearly broke down from people trying to pre-order a baby groot that shockingly wasn't manufactured already when this gem came out, but... 😂😂😂
This instantly became one of my favorite super hero movies. It also instantly became one of my favorite sci-fi movies. This is Marvel at its very best. Was so happy to see how much the two of you enjoyed and appreciated this movie.
I'm surprised you didn't include the "Hugh Hefner" cameo in this one. Great reaction though! This is one of my favorites from the MCU.
Yeah we are so angry at oursrselves, that we forgot to include Hugh Hefner scene 😓, wont forget him next time!!
The reason that Thanos was mentioned in Deadpool 2 is that the actor who played Cable in there was also the voice of Thanos in this movie.
I knew nothing about this movie and it won my heart instantly. Thanks for sharing your reaction with us.
Trin's 'oof' when Gamora closed the orb on the stone at the end was perfect.
And this was when "Howard The Duck" was made Canon in the Marvel Universe
Great reaction once again you two. I knew you'd love this movie....and it was evident by the amount of laughing that we saw. And the soundtrack ... right?
This movie is an absolute joy for us!! the relationship between the characters, and YES THE SOUNDTRACK!!! we all need Awesome mix vol1. in our lives!
James Gunn did all 3 guardians movies and dc projects (The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker). He’s now the Co-Ceo of DC Studios and he’s going to be making the Superman movie coming out in 2025
The director James Gunn said regarding the last scene with baby Groot dancing and then stopping when Drax looked over at him.
“There was a deleted scene where big Groot was dancing and Drax was dismissive and gave him a look like he was a loser when he did it”
Which also ties to when Drax talks about his hatred of dancing James Gunn explained further “Dancing is ludicrous to Drax. I don’t think he understands it. If he was a mayor, the first law would be no dancing. But yeah, so at the end of the movie, little baby Groot didn’t want to get caught dancing, because he would kill him”
Marvel had always said they wanted to make movies about some of their lesser known characters. They spent years getting people to trust them with Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, an Avengers movie... showing that they could make extremely compelling characters and films, so when they announced Guardians and people realized it was going to be about a genetically altered raccoon and a tree everyone was like, "yeah, alright. I'm in." And then this film being as good as it is, it's got some emotional wrecking ball moments in it, people really just trusted Marvel after this.
I love this one because it really embraces the weirdness. It doesn't try to tone it down, if anything it plays it up and leans into it. It's goofy, a bit campy, but in the best ways. The soundtrack is about as good as you could ever imagine one being. James Gunn has an eye for this kind of style. He did the newer Suicide Squad and Peacemaker for DC and brought this same sense of oddball humor to questionably motivated characters. He really is good at taking utter anti-heroes and making us really want them to succeed. This is one of everyone's favorite Marvel films.
Fun fact, the actor who Drax fights at the end, Djimon Hounsou, who plays “Korath The Pursuer” auditioned for the role of Drax and when he saw Dave Bautista who plays Drax and how ripped he was he knew why he wasn’t cast lol, he admitted that Bautista was the perfect choice for the role.
The duck was Harold the Duck, another Marvel comic character. FYI the actor who played cable in Deadpool 2, is the same actor who played Thanos and that's why Deadpool called him Thanos
The duck at the end is Howard. He's a character that appears in the Guardians,Defenders, Dr Strange,Marvel tales of mystery comics. Not as a main character, but a plucky sidekick. Then he got his own series. Howard the Duck (trapped in a world he never made). He was a semi deep cut Easter egg. He became a detective of sorts later. With a character that you haven't met. It's not a spoiler. There isn't even a direct tie. Only the Marvel nerds even draw the connection. Everybody else saw the 90s Howard moive or didn't know him.
when this came to theaters, i of course was going to see it as i had seen all the other MSU films in theaters. didn't know anything about them, and was so fun. the next day i took my brother to see it, then the day after that i took my dad to see it.
The two odd characters are:
Cosmo, the Space Dog: Soviet Space program test dog (maybe alternate universe), who gains telepathic powers.
Howard the Duck: He was FAMOUS in the '70s. Had his own comic book and daily newspaper comic strip for many years in the US. Howard did social commentary, occasionally hanging out with superheroes and criticizing them. Sort of like DC's Ambush Bug, but Howard has no powers. He was brought to Earth via magic. From another universe, Duckworld, an Earth where ducks became the sentient species.
Cosmo: CCCP is actually cyrilllic letters C cyrillic is S, and P in cyrillic is R, and it stands for: Союз Советских Социалистических Республик, SSSR (Sojuz Sovetskih Socialisticheskih Respublik) in Latin script) is a Russian abbreviation for the Soviet Union or Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR). So, CCCP would be in English USSR :)
The soundtrack of the Guardians of the Galaxy is just awesome
Love your Marvel reactions! 🥰
I would sau 90 to 95% of ppl walked into this movie knowing exactly what you did..maybe 5% possibly 10% saw them the guardians in a cartoon or two...then there is hardcore comic book readers..hars off to them..actually knew these characters...i think its safe to say we all l9ve it like you did!
This waz marvel at its peak..and hitting there stride..made sime amazing films for 5 yrs or so..just knocked it out of the park...whether you already knew and loved the characters or didnt your money was a safe bet going o these films. It was always a good time. Then there were also absolute gems like this, winter soldier etc..just spectacular!
The dog was Laika, one of the first named cosmonauts (before her, the Russians had send fruit flies and a chimp into space). In real life she died during her space flight, so I love how she's entered into modern mythology as a character who only supposedly died, but it was all a cover up.
Can’t believe in the cinema i cried over a tree. This is the most i've heard the both of you laugh
You guys are amazing, the BEST of reactors to this movie. You're laughing and crying at the same things I myself did. You seem to understand a lot, generally speaking. All Guardians-movies are my favorite movies of all time. Such well-crafted story, characters and everything to be honest. James Gunn SMASHED these movies. Nobody (except comic book fans) knew about Guardians of the Galaxy, but it became quickly a smash-hit that most people loved!
This is the first video I've seen of you lot, but you guys got my like, comment and subscribe :D
🥰
Gunn brings genuine pathos and earned emotion into his movies, while still providing laughs and spectacle. You get tears and fist-pump moments on a first watch, and then you realise there is a hell of a lot more going on with characters and themes on a repeat watch or even just thinking about it further. Gunn was the wild-card that shaped the Marvel cosmic plan and imagery and SOOOO many movies have tried to mirror this tone - the big difference is he really loves his characters and cast, and it shows on screen.
He said… “We are family..”
Def my favorite Marvel movie, saw it about 10x in the theater alone, glad you enjoyed!
Thanos is mentioned in Deadpool because the actor, Josh Brolin who plays “Cable” in Deadpool 2 is the same actor who plays “Thanos”.
The duck at the end of the film was "Howard the Duck"
There was a movie about this character by George Lucas in 1986! And he also belongs to the Marvel Universe
The dog in the spacesuit is Cosmos. You'll see him again, and Howard The Duck will have a very quick cameo in a future film.
I already have a large collection to watch from your channel but I'm really enjoying it bit by bit, this was Excellent as always and an emotional (nuclear-ish) reactor. Thank you.
P. D. Idk why but I like very much Trin's voice.
When Star Lord drops the stone, that wasnt scripted, he really just dropped it and they kept it in lol.
I'm just here because after guardians vol 3. I'm rewatching others reaction to the first two film and I'm very happy that so many people enjoying it as much as I do :D and if you like this story and the characters I'm just gonna say you are not ready for vol 3 😅 that movie left me broken..in a good way 😄 keep up the good content guys😊
That duck was Howard the Duck. Another character in the Marvel Universe from Marvel Comics. There is an old movie 1986 about him. I believe that dog was Laika, the first dog in space in 1957.
I’ve been waiting patiently for WEEKS cuz i knew you guys were gonna love this movie and it didn’t disappoint, can’t wait for what’s next, I told you guys after capt america winter soldier things were gonna get crazier and weirder 🤣🤣🤣🤣 im here for every step of the journey.
Being a Chris Pratt fan from Parks and Recreation is the only reason I went to see this movie. Did not know anything about this movie. But the music and the humor made this one of my favorite Marvel films.
Groot died because he was the tree bubble, he couldn't protect himself in the bubble too
In 4 days i would get the chance to see the third guardians of the galaxy film and i'm really excited
My all time favorite Marvel movie. Rocket is iconic. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3, I just have to say, is probably the best marvel film to date, and I know that when you get up to it you’ll love it. 😄
This movie is really amazing, I watched this movie twice back in 2014, once with my mother and a second time with my friends, great movie. They reslly bought out the comic versions of the characters, great acting.
Greatings from France. Absolutely loved your reaction !!
Salut!! thank you very much 💕
That was Howard The Duck, from the 1986 film of the same name! It requires more than your average amount of suspension of disbelief to watch, but once you commit, it's bloody hilarious!
The martini drinking duck at the end is Howard the Duck. Another Marvel property first appearing in 1973. Just a lil easter egg for comic book fans.
Btw, the part where Starlord is going to hand over the orb and drops it? Well apparently that wasn’t in the script and was legitimately an accident but they decided to keep it in the movie.
They did so because not only did Chris Pratt recover from it so quickly and with some top tier comedic timing…but the way in which it happened was totally believable for his character😅
The talking duck was Howard the Duck. Coincidentally, Howard the Duck was the first movie released by Marvel back in 1986.
The duck at the end is Howard. Howard the Duck. I think he was one of the very first comic movies from Marvel in the 80s. He's supposedly ridiculously OP and isn't really used to his max.
the guy who plays Thanos is the same guy that played Cable in Deadpool 2. Deadpool calls him Thanos at some point. that's why you remember him being mentioned.
Deadpool called Cable (the time traveler) Thanos in Deadpool 2 because they are played by the same actor Josh Brolin.
This is one of my very favorite movies, period. It is SO rewatchable!
James Gunn has worked on and directed some fun movies, Slither with Nathan Fillion (who also played the prisoner who's nose was picked by Groot) as the lead was an earlier horror comedy, with "Merl" again and it has a similar feel to the dialogue. "Super" was a fun and unexpected spin on the superhero genre too with Rainn Wilson, Eliot Page and Kevin Bacon, very dark, very messed up but hilarious at the same time. Cheers for the reaction, it was fun rewatching this with you guys
and gunn is now the Co-Ceo of DC studios
This movie was such a great surprise to me when it came out, having not been familiar with the comics version. So full of humor and pathos.
That was Howard the Duck, a marvel character. Back 1n1986 they made a film about him with Lea thompson , the woman that played the mother in back to the future. It was a weird film.
This movie is an emotional roller coaster
this movie really freshened up the series!the movies before it were starting to get too serious, even a little boring..can't wait to watch the third episode!❤
0:42 yeah, Groot is a member of a species called Flora Colossus, more commonly Groot (like Homo Sapiens are called Human), and all of them speak the same way. The last time I came across a GotG comic, it was said that he is actually the exiled king of the species, but I don't know if that is still canon to the comics, or part of the MCU at all. (Though it's _possible_ something may have recently _hinted_ at it being so.)
WOW!! This got you guys so deep that I'm so hyped to se you react to Vol II and III and the Xmas Special. I know you are so into Mel Dixon on this one... After Vol II you'll never see him the same again.
The end credit scene showed Howard the Duck. He was a Marvel comics character from the late 70s with his own comic books as well as appearing with Spider-Man, Wolverine and the X-men. He actually had a Marvel movie made about him in the 80s. It was one of Marvels early attempts to make movies about characters. Although the movie was a flop, it is considered a kind of cult classic now.
Quill dropping the orb while meeting the collector was an accident, but so perfect that they kept in the movie LOL love it when they do stuff like that. Great reaction! #wearenegan ;)
1:00 That's a real blooper. Chris Pratt actually fumbled the prop but it made for a funnier take so they kept it.
21:01 Because Groot wasn't in the bubble. He was the bubble. He was going to take all the damage.
27:30 So just to clarify. Groot did indeed sacrifice himself. The Groot we follow in subsequent films is his son.
28:20 That immediate credit (you didnt read for some reason) after the scene says Howard the Duck. He's an alien from a planet of anthropomorphic ducks called Duckworld and characterized as a sort of hard-boiled noir detective. One might question why we got this character before other much more recognizable Marvel characters but we've already crossed the threshold in which this movie introduced a talking racoon and walking tree into the franchise and we love them for it.
James Gunn is an amazing director in MCU roster, and he is doing DC movies right now too.
Oh Rob, ur laugh gives me life 😂😊
🥰
Fun fact when star lord dropped the orb it was chris pratts fail but it was so perfect they keeped it
The dog is Cosmo, he was a Russian cosmonaut dogo that now is telekinetic and talks.
I really enjoy your guys' reactions. In this one, I really appreciate that you've understood that the baby Groot was a brand-new Groot and not the same Groot. That may or may not be important to understand for context later on.
FYI
The actress playing the blue Nebula… is Amy Pond.
:-)
Rob: I'm not worried about Groot at all.
Me: 👀😬
So the duck guy in the post credit scene is a character named Howard The Duck. This character had a solo movie in the 80s. So if you want something "interesting" to do a reaction video of, that would be a good one. lol
Definitely one of my favourite Marvel movies
Thay didn't notice that van dezel was groot voice and his script is just one line
never seen people actually cry tears like this lol from this type of thing
Howard the Duck, produced by George Lucas, was technically the first live action Marvel adaptation.
Being a DC guy, you might be pleased to know that James Gunn has been put in charge of developing a new run of DC movies from the ground up. The first is a new Superman movie written and directed by Gunn. Also, if you haven't seen Gunn's The Suicide Squad (not to be confused with the previous film Suicide Squad), it's tremendously entertaining as is the follow-up TV series, Peacemaker.
Howard the Duck is a Marvel character as are The Guardians of the Galaxy.
In the comics, Yondu was part of the original line up for the Guardians... and it was cool how they kind of re-created him to be in the movie.
Howard the Duck! Old school Marvel from the 1970s. And the Lucasfilm film Howard the Duck from 1986 was based on the character too!
